yeah i was wondering if instead of the boring ugly and stupid looking ship fires we currently have maybe the old beta (i think beta ;p theyre in all the old snazzy movies) could be brought back.... im GUESSING (im not uber come scripting and stuff heavy like a lot of peeps here) that it was because it required to much system resources and they took it off to cut down on that? well seeing as pretty much everyone has better then mininmum specs maybe they could be brought back..... or even an option to turn them on (in case there are some 'barely meeting minimum spec' ppl out there?

I take it your ship get's lit-up a lot? 
Personally I don't mind either way. As long as there is no increased gfx load. But really, this so minor, in comparison with the other good things that are coming in Eve.

even so, all though the old ones were nice, i still like to fly around with most my hull gone, it somehow seems more fitting for my Minmatar ships, and looks quite cool too.

ships still chetch on fire m8's :) ive seen my ships on fire alot, mostlty on test server, and on her when npcs seem to get a hold of me :P
Caldari will once again rise above the Gallente and take back Caldari Prime!

You know what, now that i think about it, back in beta i remember the first time i logged in, i flew to a belt where my friend was fighting some npcs, and i just remember getting there and seeing some ships fighting in the background and then just seeing this magnificant explosion as he killed one of the pirates... I couldnt get over how good the explosions looked, and the fires too, i cant believe i didnt notice that they changed them, they used to look amazing. CCP was this changed due to lag or what? will we ever get those reaaaaaallly cool looking explosions and effects back? maybe a graphics option? because damn those looked so good... or at least make battleships explode for a bit longer, the new explosions we did get look cool, but like a battleships doesnt really explode that big : /

how things have changed, the new explosion effects are not bad. every now and then i look at the real old vids and see whats changed

I would like to see it, but the only way I think it would justify your ship being on fire is if you get some Structure damage until it gets repaired. So the fire is harming your ship

Oh dear. We're discussing things being on fire in the complete vacuum of space, and people want to talk about how to do it more realistically

hay the SUN is in space and ITS on fire :P matter of fact, its a gient ball of fire. and what abut comets arnt they on fire like atleast somewhat?
