Having every ship in the game look the same sort of way, with complete symmetry is boring as hell. Many caldari ships, like the Moa, Scorpion, and kestrel, are a much needed change from the monotony, and I personally love how different and unique they are.
(Feel free to replace unique with cool looking.) |

Reaver Glitterstim wrote:One thing at a time. There's a whole list of ships we can complain about, but we gotta start somewhere.
Here is the complete list of REALLY ugly ships in EVE: *Armageddon *Dominix *Hyperion *Typhoon *Aeon *Wyvern *Revenant *Blackbird *Moa *Exequror *Thorax *Bellicose *Cormorant *Catalyst *Algos *Naglfar *Obelisk *Bantam *Griffin *Condor *Imicus *Atron *Probe *Burst *Velator *Reaper *Leviathan *Ragnarok not including tech 2 or faction variants with basically the same model, many limited edition or special issue ships, anything unavailable in-game, or bad strategic cruiser setups. Someone needs to visit a good optician.
Only two ships in that list deserve to be there, but what I really don't understand is why the ugliest, stupidest-looking ship in all of EVE isn't even mentioned.
When the Tristan's new role as a drone carrier was announced I really liked the sound of the new spec and expected that the change would be accompanied by the introduction of the redesigned hull they showed us at Fanfest last year, so I acquired several in anticipation. That didn't happen, so they're still in my hangar 'cos I just can't bring myself to undock in a contraption that looks more like a flying Michelin Man than a spaceship. |

Why the Moa is so damned ugly.
Ishukone has a strange eye.
For it makes no sense,
for a Moa to fly.
With your weird chicken neck.
And your nacelles bent.
Instead I'll fly,
a Caracal with pride.

Ok, we have leftover parts from 9 different ship classes, and none of those parts are missile hardpoints. Throw it all in a trash compactor and paint the results in the caldari colors and strap hybrids on it. My god.... its hideous. Fantastic work. Full production immeadiately. Yes sir!
Also, Imicus, the only frigate that has a kickstand. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

Yeah what's up with the Imicus? Seriously. Somebody was either drunk or it was unpaid overtime on a Friday. |

Back in 2003, the Moa was my go-to bird. I hadn't thought of one in ages. |

I don't feel that a ship not looking like a ship is cause for calling it ugly. I think the tristan has a rather interesting appearance to it. I can't decide whether it looks like a space jellyfish, a children's fantasy power suit, or that ship in the movie Sunshine.
The reason I put most of those ships in the ugly bin is because they have a lot of non-descript parts hanging off, there is no clear design direction, and they look like there was probably more time spent balancing the engines to make it fly straight than in any other part of the design process. I find your comment about engines very odd. To me the engines on most of the ships in EVE don't look as if they could drive the ship in a straight line. |

I didn't say they DO look balanced, just that balancing them WOULD be a nightmare. Given how unbalanced the engines are on several of them, perhaps the Exequror more than any other, I have to suspect that some of the engines never get fired up to full power, while others get consistently overworked, and all the while this whole setup can explain why Gallente ships are only slightly more agile than Caldari ships.
