It's not about the ISK. It's about sending a message. High-sec is dangerous. It is as safe as players make it. It is as dangerous as players make it to be. Concord and other NPCs are just part of the terrain.
Yesterday I created a permanent gank alt to join the New Order. With 7 hours to train up to a destroyer, I shipped to Kamio in a velator. And I saw bots. All bots. They were unresponsive when you talked to them, they don't respond when you bump them. They just mine, warp, unload, repeat. They are not really people, just kill mails waiting to happen.
Then there are the carebears. They graze on ice all day, confident that their isk will protect them. They mock the CODE and openly show their defiance of it. They make bat-phone calls to their "pvp-friends", and epic high-sec defense fleets start to form. They come with scorpions, they come with machariels, they ship in griffins and basilisks en-masse, and style themselves as the brave rebel front against the new-order.
When I shipped into my catalyst, and began my baptism of fire, I finally understood why the rebels never stood a chance. The New Order flies in tight formation, its doctrines perfect, its maneuvers synchronized. We have scouts, probes, warp-ins, bookmarks, and every trick in the book. All executed to perfection to deliver 6 seconds of wrath.
I killed 3 people so far. One of whom never logged on again. Maybe EVE wasn't the game for him.
I track down all my ganks and do my best to rehabilitate them.
The new order is the most remarkable and social high-sec ganking operation one can find in EVE. Volunteers from every major coalition have gathered and put aside their differences to exterminate the carebear. The carebear playstyle is a damnable crime worthy of violent in-game death. But unlike the carebear, we do not petition GMs to nerf certain playstyles. We make use of the game mechanics given to us. We enforce our rules and our beliefs with anti-matter.
Game-balance wise, the situation is hilarious. A high-sec suicide ganker has a combat life of 6 seconds in 0.7 space. If suicide ganking is nerfed any further, we would have to resort to alpha-striking the miners. Suicide ganking can no-longer be done in solo catalysts. Instead it is now a highly sophisticated team game that requires good organization to set up. Which in my opinion, does wonders to strengthen the suicide ganking community.
High-Sec is dangerous. If not through war-decs, then through the suicide ganker. The casual player must find his niche in this - the game will not change for him. No-one is entitled to an intact ship in EVE. If new players come in with false expectations, they must be educated to know otherwise, or be blown up.
The New-Order is a trans-alliance effort to provide both the educating and the blowing up. For players who prefer a more gentle approach of getting acquainted with the game... I still recommend EVE-Uni!

Ganking isn't fair. Mining ships and industrial caps don't shoot back. That's the number one protest I always hear from carebears, and carebear defenders.

While i enjoy pvp i never saw any fun in ganking those that can't defend themselves.. not gate camping indies in lowsec and especially not suicide ganking indies in high sec.
If you guys are so well organized and fly so well together, try doing some lowsec pvp roams.. Its more of a challenge than warping to belt ->approach barge -> press f1+f2 for guns and warp scram. |

You're quite mistaken. Most knights of the new order have neg ten sec status. Everything tries to kill them if they stay in place for more than a few seconds.
That, and they prey gets spooked sometimes. And they also like to tank their ships with blinged out modules.
The new order are professionals, they do not use throw away alts to rep their sec status. Everyone can shoot them. And everyone is welcome to try. And if what we do wakes carebears from the monotony of their existence, I say its a job well done. This is actually what I call an undisguised piece of blatant propaganda.
As for ganking itself:
We're not really here to measure bot activity, or even decide who is a bot and who isn't. We eradicate carebears. Hopefully some can be cured. We also humor a few who pay our ransoms mining permits.
It's that simple. Unless you want to get into the James-cult drama.. The post that got me banned from Eve-Uni: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=210049&find=unread |

Carebear extermination has been going on for years. - From times dating to even before the Hulkageddon. What James is doing is nothing new. But his charisma and the drama he attracts is a good rallying point to meet new people and go out ganking with them. If killing carebears could get stale, then James has found fresh and more entertaining ways to kill them. I can appreciate what the New Order does, it is fun to be a part of a group of people with a unified goal, especially when that goal involves blowing up other people's imaginary spaceships. The main reason I haven't joined, considering my love of ganking miners, is that the whole fun of it is showing up where you are completely unexpected, murdering some poor bastard out of the blue, and then watching how he reacts. I don't particularly want to shoot Bots (****, the are my people). I'd rather shoot people who are actively playing, but have no idea they are being hunted. It is especially great when they come out and try to fight you after your criminal flag expires, I have gotten some beautiful kills this way. Most Bots wouldn't do that.
I am ok with the RP aspect. This is an RPG, after all. We are all, by definition, role playing whenever we are logged in. Some people just choose to be a bot nerdier about it than others, but that is ok with me. Join the Revolutionary Front and liberate New Eden from it's stuff.

Pomp and circumstance at best. I went to Kamino last night in my Procurer. I clearly stated that I had no permit and that I needed to be bumped or ganked, did I get saved or ganked? NO. I was very disappointed. They promise an education and swift wrath but deliver only words. Some of them at least have some good banter, but others take it way too serious with no action.
Now someone may say, did you want to be ganked? YES! the sheer entertainment value would have been worth the loss, but no they would not do it. Heck they would not even bump me. The best I got was you should try low or null sec, which tells me they did not even check me on the killboards.
I will also say that Miner Teck guy is quite a whiner, and has way too much anger.
Now if James will promise to gank me and post a video of it afterwards I will return. |

Here is another situation where misunderstanding the New Halaima Code of Conduct has created a complaint from an entitled carebear.
The Code clearly states that we will bump (or gank) whoever we choose. Its our system, we control it, we decide who gets to mine and who doesn't. We are under no compulsion to bump or gank a miner because he has decided we should. What the miner wants does not enter into our decisions unless he buys a permit and follows The Code. Then we have said we will not bump or gank him.
Until he meets the requirements of The Code, the New Order will decide for ourselves how far up our list he rises. The ONLY decision the miner gets to make is to buy a permit and follow The Code. If he decides not to, its up to us if he lives, dies, or shoots across the ice field backwards at 2000 m/s.

I can appreciate what you do, and why you're doing it. In the grand scheme of things, it makes sense, and is emergent game play. However, your constant need to draw attention to yourselves and wrapping all of it in a ridiculous "savior of hi-sec" package is over the top. James315 himself has gone out of control with his enormous walls of text.

If he had repented and gave a gf and embraced the violence that is part of eve, we'd have bought him one. Funny... gf usually mean good fight. Fighting requires a minimum of two people duking it out. You remind me of those kids that would go down the hallway and knock some kids books out of their hands and tell the principal "If he had said good fight I would have picked up his books" Since the miner didn't fight back I have to wonder what GF stands for.
More thoughts on the matter:
Actually I'd compare what we're doing to the suicide bombing of peace protesters. Every suicide ganker has to make sacrifices for the cause. Bullies tend to avoid damage or risk to themselves.
Being undocked puts the miners at risk in a pvp situation anyway. Now, if they were alert, and checked local, d-scanned every other second, and docked up whenever they saw catalysts coming out to play, then maybe they could have been saved.
The trick to suicide ganking is not the elite skills or even the dps, it's the initiative. And when all your battles are 6 seconds long, initiative is everything. - Which why AFK miners and players too used to PVE situations don't stand half a chance.
A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. The post that got me banned from Eve-Uni: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=210049&find=unread |

Be sure to update wiki on that idea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullying
Additionally are you protesting peace or equating yourself to religious freedom fighters? I am not exactly sure what a peace protestor is by your definition.
If you are going to equate yourself to something, make sure you really know what that means. |

We're running at a loss here, it's not quite like piracy. It really is about volunteers doing their part to send a message. We are however, subsidized by the generosity of our shareholders.
We take pre-emptive measures against bots by killing anyone who shows bot aspirant behaviour.
It is also more fun when you feed people bullshit roleplay reasons for killing them. The post that got me banned from Eve-Uni: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=210049&find=unread |

We crusade against the Spirit of the Bot, that which threatens to invade the body of all non-compliant miners. Those who comply with the New Halaima Code of Conduct have nothing to fear. Those who do not subject themselves to the risk of being cleansed. Enforcing compliance is not piracy, it is mercy. 315 4 CSM 8 |

What makes you think that some of the New Order supporters aren't taking advantage of the increase in demand and price? Destruction and production are the fundamental driving force of the economy, you can't have one without the other.
If you want to take a cynical view, the New Order is sponsored by industrialists looking to cash in on the mayhem. It's an aggressive marketing campaign, using both industrial espionage and economic warfare to remove some competition, have some laughs and make an obscene profit in the process. Real world companies would do exactly the same if there were no laws against it, take for an example an arms manufacturer, if they could start a war to sell their wares, they would, and tbh probably do, via subterfuge and lobbying, when they can get away with it.

Tried to read as many of the posts as I could... just wanted to chim in some of my thoughts.
TL;DR: NOL is great, join us.
To those of you who believe tanking your Indy is a waste of time or silly: As a solo ganker if you have a tank, I'm looking for another target... unless the numbers are only 1-2 seconds above Concord response time, then I'll give it a shot. In fleets tanked Indys are usually chosen as targets last; unless of course we have the dps/damage requirements. However, it would be more beneficial to take out 2 untanked targets sitting next to each other rather than 1 and we often split our numbers to do just that.
To those of you would still for whatever reason believe that the New Order is small, or weak, or wont last long:http://code.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=16802696 ...The point isn't the kill, but rather the fleet was formed on a whim. Yes, that is an anti-tanked Orca.. shameful really.
To those of you who believe the Permit system is a scam, or extortion, or you just don't like it: At first I wasn't sure what to think about the 10 million ISK mining permit. At first I too thought it was a scam. However, we actually don't attack people who have permits and they are actually set to blue. If you are not AFK and get ganked by a member of the New Order, there is a chance your ship will be replaced. I recently replaced a 46m ISK Retriever because of a mistake I made in the mail explaining NOL policy (Not going to include KM for permit holders privacy, if you really want to know I'll have to ask him first). As far as extortion is concerned... it's 10 million ISK. You make that in what half an hour-1 hour solo mining and a lot less if group/support mining. Since attacking permit holders is not allowed and whenever someone cries "extortion" to me you're just reaching for anything in an attempt to make us look bad. Now, I could understand if it were 50 million ISK per permit, then you would have an argument.
When I created this character I had played Eve on and off for about a year and a half. The characters I started this great game off with I don't play anymore; I don't remember their names. This is my main. I eventually was on the verge of quitting, heard that Hulkageddon was active again and decided to participate. Then I realized I could actually make a profit from suicide ganking. And so the career began. When I first heard about NOL I remember thinking to myself, "great they're going to cut into my profits." I played this game mostly solo and hated it. Eventually talked to someone affiliated with the New Order and got into their channel. Had the chance to run fleets with them. Had a great time and the rest is history.
