I'm kinda new to FW, but one thing has become quite clear already. Caldari Militia needs to get it together. When I see a frog in local, there is almost always someone (or 3, or 20) ready to back them up. Meanwhile, CalMil scatter like ants in a rain storm if anything shows up on short scan at a plex gate. What gives?
Intel channels are mostly dead. CalMil.org is a barren wasteland. Fleets seem few and far between.
Just seems like we are taking a lot of unnecessary casualties by flying solo, when the enemy clearly is not. I'm not talking about individual corp or alliance efforts, but the overall picture. Caldari Militia -áGÿ£GÿàGÿP Psychotic Monk for CSM8 |

I think you're overestimating the level of organisation other militias have as compared to yours. There are days in every militia when it's hard to get a cohesive effort, and certain times of day when intel channels are underpopulated and silent. Every militia has its issues, and the Caldari militia's issue is generally that certain members have very serious attitude problems which makes other people unwilling to work together. Meanwhile, in the Gallente militia, our people teld to be incredibly tied to one or two particular systems and rarely go outside of them, which means systems which aren't home to a defence bloc (such as the one Mixed Metaphor is nominally a part of) tend to get neglected. The middle of northern Placid, due to its scarcity of systems, is a particularly good example of this. Mane 614

Yes fleeting up is more efficent. All gal fleets I saw got actually always killed brutaly by amarr militia fleets. So yeah fleeting up is a solution. Blob vs Blob. But doing this you can also go immediately to Nullsec. Primary F1.... secondary F1....tertiary....blah. Yeah 98% kb efficience but 0,1% are solo kills. LOL. Uber pilots^^
BUT: Concerning fun---------> solo and small gang is really a lot cooler. Not as effective (in staging systems) like getting a 40+ armor cruiser gang but in my opinion a lot more fun.
So you have a decision to make: Fun or effieciency. And btw: small gang guerilla tactics work very well if your opponent is terrible bad at it (Minmatar for example). Concerning system occupancy 8 groups of 5 pilots in 8 different systems will do a lot better than a big group of 40 in one system. |

Maybe so. I've only been doing this for a couple weeks, and had delusions of grandeur of a highly organized military effort. Apparently that's not the case.

I agree, and I would really like to see more small gang opportunities as opposed to blobs. As referenced above, I figured in joining FW, I could open up the fleet finder and have a list to choose from 24/7.

That mostly depends on your corp/alliance, though general militia (at least for the Gallente) almost always seems to have a fleet up. Though, the size of it greatly varies and often ventures into blob without a cause mode. Hey! You're no zombie! |

It depends what you mean by "better." If you only care about 5 or 6 systems then your better off just getting in the blob and sitting in those systems.
If you actually wanted to progress in the tier system ccp set out then spreading out would be more efficient. But it seems very few care about that since the cashouts ended.

If you're so bitter, then maybe you should step down. Someone earlier remarked that some of the militia has a serious attitude problem, and your post appears to give that statement credibility.
You're right about one thing, though. There shouldn't be a forum post about this. There are resources available that aren't being utilized, because if they were, this thread wouldn't need to exist in the first place.

Nah I'm calm just in a bit more of a grumpy mood than usual, been ill the past few days and been going bloody stir crazy at home. As I understand a good few peeps have been working a shedload recently, but then again some damn awesome games came out so could just be an excuse to ignore everyone and play Simcity for hours each day.
There is something a little satisfying about creating a crime ridden city then unleashing it on other unsuspecting people without much in the way of a police force ^_^
Then again I've notice there has been a large number of people on both sides that seem to be a bit more MIA than usual, just that time of year I guess ... won't really get busy again for another month when CCP promise us some true awesome kick-ass stuff that they'll never actually deliver lol
I mean you seen the state of DUST 514 still? especially with it's "immersive" FW link.. still can't see a point in them just to make plexing a system slightly easier / harder. Hell the best part of Orbital Bombardment right now is it seems to an awesome way to get the local pirates of a system to come fight... certainly isn't the lil mail you get sent saying "yay you killed some PS3 players, aren't you happy now?"
Kinda wish you could listen in on the game, hear the tears from them about it - even then dunno feels like being a glorified care package. |

Kane,
It really depends on who you fly with usually. Some corps care about the next shiny kill. Some care about that but also about objectives shared with their militia, and they will try and put together the kind of war effort you seem to want. However, as has been pointed out, since we are talking militia, organization is difficult and people will more often do their own things. |

Ya, maybe you're right. There are fleets available, objectives, etc. on the corp/alliance level...I'm not referring to that at all. I guess I expected there to be more of a formal chain of command, with leaders relaying well drawn battle plans that get passed down through the ranks. I thought the intel channels would be abuzz with information about WTs, gate camps, etc. Maybe I just had unrealistic expectations about how it all works. Its true your expections are not reality but they were not unreasonable.
The core goal of fw - gaining occupancy - is something most of the pvpers really don't care about. (at least outside their base system)
There were some groups in the amarr militia who put together channels to help people fight the occupancy war. But manually typing in the info on everyone you see plexing is a bit too much of a chore for a game, and so the channel was pretty much empty. I would say the organization represents the warzone. Gal/Cal is very spread out and it's rare that you see more than 10 in a system that's not a 'home' system during USTZ. Over the weekend in Minnie/Amarr space, every stsyem had a MINIMUM of 10 that I was in and I bet those sides have good intel/fleets up (I leave it to you to define "good") more than we do. Or at the very least, more fleet action because it's more condensed. -Rock is overpowered, Scissors is fine. -Paper |

Fleet finder will occasionally have fleets - but 1/2 of them will be set ups to gank you.
Thing is - FW is mostly people who can't stand the way things are done in Null sec. They don't need someone to tell them how to fit, fly and when they can do it.
You have joined a group of individuals. When you have a group who can all think for themselves - organization becomes a burden.
Example: I have one concern. My home system. That's all. The system next door or 2 jumps away is someone elses problem. If they do not take ownership and look after it by dplexing and chasing off farmers then they deserve to lose it.
It is up to smaller individual Corps to make somewhere their home in low sec and defend it. The war zone is too big and with a larger organized group, prioritizing would need to occur leaving someones home system getting screwed over.
So if an alliance has 3 corps and they all live in the same place and defend the same system - they will fail by choice.
They should have each corp based in different systems and have them defend them. So the smaller groups can get more done and are more efficient. A larger organized group would have too narrow of a focus to be of any use.
The biggest problem is actually FW people living in High Sec. They do not take ownership of home systems and defend them. Fix this **** See Sea Pea. |

Actually wolfsbrigade decided they liked enemy militia more than their own and then wondered why people didnt care much for them after that because everybody apparently should have liked the enemy too. Of course those who didnt were all just people "who took things too seriously" and dramalamas.
With this I am of course referring to people getting butthutt when Draketrain fleet refused to let gallente undock and let other militia people form the "purple fleet" to go after RnK. Lacco's quote says it all: "If you are willing to join into a fleet with your enemy, what are you doing in FW in the first place?".
And to OP. Eve is not a game where you are magically provided entertainment when you demand it. Has it perhaps occurred to you that people who run fleets and bigger alliances have actually worked their butt off to get their people into position they will always have a proper fleet to call for?
And as for public fleets, most people in State Pro NPC corp are either LP-farmers or gallente spy alts (usually same thing) so making public fleets (in any militia) is just stupid. It makes no difference that spying in FW is usually about as useful as looking for heterosexual single women in a gay bar. |

If people want to feed their enemy easy kills by not being on fleets or comms in their 2-3 man corporations, they can do that. Alternatively they can join any of the existing alliances/corporations to learn and to have competent people to fly with. It's not particulary hard to join them either. |

1.) It works for erm... well surely not for system occupancy. What does militia tiers have to do with anything in the end? The big fleet fights are good for having fun. It's a game, not your life or your job. Systems will come and go, the tiers will fluctuate. In fact, only caring about tiers would put you in the same category as the farmers. It's not about the isk or the systems your militia owns or the plexes you spin.

Of course he doesnt. But im going to explain what i believe to be the overwhelming consensus view to you.
Fact is the plexes, tiers and isk are all catalysts for fun times, be it gudfites, blobbing, small gang, boosted solo, tru solo or whatever. FW is an arena, to encourage PvP.
Though it does appear there are people who like to roleplay occupancy, who seem to consider what a system says in the top left corner of the screen to be the primary focus of FW while being too jaded to appreciate the things that are generated by the fw arena as a whole.
I think most of us can agree that those few people have a confusing outlook on FW. Perhaps they enjoy taking occupancy really seriously, that is both their crime and their punishment imo. |

Basically he said that I haven't been around long enough to experience the high and low tide of FW occupancy. The reason I'm not seeing much coordinated effort/fleets is because CalMil controls most of the systems currently. Everyone is spread out, trying to defend their home systems.
I guess not that long ago, the frogs controlled everything and CalMil had to stage out of hi-sec. Since everyone was lumped together, there were a lot more fleets and more of a concerted effort to regain a foothold. Makes sense. Caldari Militia -áGÿ£GÿàGÿP Psychotic Monk for CSM8 |

one corp is not a militia organization.
Caldari do have certain organizations but not everyone can join those when they want.
But as what comes to organization itself is that someone has to manage those somehow so you can from you own organization model and ask others to join.
If you try to make general militia organization it will face several problems as spies and people who do not want to give any 'leadership status' to anyone.
Best way in militia is to form strong corporation who do not need support from outsiders. |

Caldari external cohesion degraded after they took all the systems and many of their core groups bailed (22nd, CAIN, etc..). At times they seem to start to pull together and then somebody war decs somebody else and it all falls apart. |

Was in Draketrain (albeit not terrible long) and still in WBR.
I'd say that yes, in terms of impact on militia Draketrain did more. We set up shop in Villore and erm, "tamed" the navy. Draketrain also did the more plexing stuff etc at a time it wasn't so crucial.
WBR however grew out of FW but has more effect on entire regions where we live. We were born in FW, moulded by it, made friends with our most dangerous enemies and then progressed down a different path.
The problem with militias is they are too many small units that dont work together. A big unit comes in every once in a while and the smaller ones kinda follow/benefit from them but when the big unit leaves it rocks the militia too much. This happens on all front in FW also. |

That said, I feel that as with anything communication and coordination could always be increased for maximum efficiency. The truth is this is a game. The mechanic is horrid and encourages separation (alliances/corps are not forced under a single banner short of "Militia"). We have people behind the computers. Most of them raging EFT warriors. I'm actually quite content with the current state of the Caldari Militia as I feel it works. It is not perfect. It can use a lot of improvement. Yet, it works and does so sufficiently to give me a reason to keep playing in FW. Imo that's the measure you need to use to rate militias. Well, the ninja patch didnt have as much of an impact as you make out, apart from you probably didnt make quite as much isk as you wanted.
As far as occupancy is concerned, if things had gone your way and the patch went ahead as planned (ignoring the high probability that we were going to interfere with your plans), you would have long ago lost your control of the bulk of systems. Just as we have done. Its time to let go.
Though if this rage is about the isk you never had, i can appreciate how that couldve been annoying, though caldari had a number of tier 5 cashouts so its not like everyone didnt have a chance to take advantage (apart from amarr), i know i did.
Though, we can both agree that giving gallente our medals on the annual 'Damar Day' was a little suspect xD |

None of that has any meaning on the fundamental crime that CCP committed. They actively interfered in ongoing conflict by accelerating the patch deployment and screwing on the Caldari militia with it. You didnt see them hasten nullsec sov mechanics when we entered the time of ihubs and TCUs' but Fozzie decided that people in low-sec dont have long term strategies and he can play god.

Of course everyone you talk to is Cal mil, and from what I hear many of them even can't stand you.
As for "caldari npc nerfs" - so you think that that disparity that favored cal mil should have stayed in game? Plex spawns spread out over the entire day shouldn't have happened? Etc.
It's one thing when you complain about the ninja patch. Because arguably you have something to complain about. Even though on the flip side, which you never can perceive, it threw gal mil into a furious worry session. We were incredibly depressed figuring your lot would be flipping almost all the systems just sooner than anyone was ready to defend. As it turns out they all must have listened to your complaining and despaired instead of stepping up to the challenge which had they done would have left us in the shitter. Meanwhile gal mil got moving, dispersed, and dplexed our asses off.
It's another thing when you complain about the then existing structural imbalances that favored you and bemoan that they were set to a more equitable footing.
Lastly, I doubt Fozzie was the major influence on the faction war changes. He was brand new, and while maybe having some input was not going to be running things. You'll have to keep searching I suppose for the cabal of devs that created the Caldari to be the majority race in eve, to nerf them unfairly at every turn, and then laugh at your suffering (in-game, well maybe). |

on a slightly more on topic note, how much of a difference has EVOKE made to the caldari in terms of getting better fights and/or expanding their system control?

Evoke hasn't given the militia better fights.
They played a huge factor in system control as they were able to farm most of the systems. They were generally top 2 organizations in Victory Points on a week to week basis for a couple months straight. Fweddit being the other.
Eventually, most of the systems became vulnerable and Evoke was only left with systems that Gallente lived in or cared to deplex. That's where they ran into a brickwall. They could plex and blob the systems up by a good 20% daily but it would just get plexed down by the US TZ Gallente pilots. For the first week or two, they could blob out plexes and force any EU opposition out of the way, but with US TZ pilots continually deplexing, even their own pilots realized it wasn't fun trying to put 10 pilots into a plex and not get a fight. Some attrition was had in their alliance as certain corps got tired of spinning buttons and decided to leave the grind of FW.
They put out some nice 30 man fleets which includes Vexor fleets and Maller gangs. Whether or not they would get a fight is another question since there are few if any EU Gal Mil alliance/corp that could match that size .
