CCP should just build multiboxing support right into the client (allowing you to control multiple accounts from the same client) and reclassify the game as an MMO-RTS/MMO-RPG hybrid.
Multiboxers get to keep playing Eve as an MMO-RTS. Single players get to keep palying Eve as an MMO-RPG. Noone has to worry about 3rd party apps.

Serious proposal. Why can't Eve be an MMO-RTS? |

For clarification, are you referring to people who play with programs such as ISBoxer or people who play multiple accounts and give each and every account individual commands?
IMHO, there is a difference from someone who runs 2, 3, 4 ... x accounts independently and someone who runs 2, 3, 4 ... x accounts off the same keystrokes. Can you clarify your stance?
And I do agree, another thread? |

If you could control multiple accounts from the client then there would be no differance between the players you mention. They would all use the Eve client to control their many or few accounts.
There are many games out there that let you control more than one "unit" at a time. Eve could function just like them, becoming a true MMO-RTS. |

One more clarification please, if you will.
Is there difference, in your opinion, from someone running multiple clients one (or more) PCs/Macs and issuing all commands independently and one person running multiple clients and using software to issue commands?
I honestly don't see why the either could be compared to an RTS. In an RST you are command X 'units' in one client, in either case .... I fell for the troll..... |

Your question is not relevant to the proposal.
My proposal is to turn Eve into an MMO-RTS. I.E. Control X units in one client, the Eve client.
In other words allow someone to control more than one account at a time within the Eve client itself. |

When did multiboxing become an issue? Apparently booking your flight & accomodation to Iceland BEFORE you buy the tickets for the convention which is pretty much the only reason you wanted to go there in the first place is popular. |

There is no "Multiboxing Issue".
There's just a bunch of whiny forum gnats that can't be arsed to run more than one client at a time. Don't like that you can't do it? Get a better rig/internet connection.

lol @ poeple that think CCP will get rid of people multi-boxing. I still havent seen a legitimate reason as to why CCP should disallow this and in the process, hurt their bottom line. We already have a solution to the multiboxing problem.
It's called smartbombing battleships. Addresses those fields of Mackinaws and Hulks quite well. Now i have to ask, whats this issue you refering to? Theres no issue. Anyone can use even opensource solution to controll as many client as needed. So why you want CCP to invent wheel again?
Not too much difference in im running those client from single keyboard or if i have two laptops on desk with my desktop machine all running eve and controlling them separately.

because you're not the leader of a large alliance. once you start having to do that (and you distance yourself from the corp/alliance to the point where you're telling people to tell people to mine/fight/whatever) ... then it's a MMO-RTS...
then again, you could be ... and this is just a forum alt.
