I know many of you would like to visit the new outpost, for the last 8 hours we have been allowing this dispite the nightmare its been in terns of security.
Starting at 11am EvE time today (downtime) only individuals with +5 or higher to ASCN will be able to visit in safety.
Until then, if you wish to visit, do so in a shuttle or basic frigate.
NBSI will go back into 100% effect after DT.
Thank you -CYVOK-

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 21/08/2005 01:36:14 That must be a logistics nightmare, Cyvok. I wonder how many alts, spies, and enemies have taken the chance to sneak into Feythabolis during this "visitation period"... .
Good luck getting rid of them -- Proud member of the [23].

An alliance that doesn't KOS everyone they see for kicks? I'm impressed. Good for you ASC, you are perhaps the first alliance I will come to respect. I'll let some people in FNA know that you are allowing free passage to see new game content.

Syrec, we do not KOS neutrals in our space for kicks. Neutrals are KOS in ASCN space (under normal circumstances anyway) because of the very real threat of alts. It's not enough to simply KOS negative standings, because they could easily create alts or hire unkown people to sneak an entire force into our territory. Maybe the future will see alliances that allow neutrals to move freely, but I doubt it will happen before more automated security measures and monitoring abilities are available. Even ASCNs excellent security response would be insufficient to make our space secure if we weren't allowed to remove neutrals until they shot at us.

No major alliance KOSs everyone "for kicks." They KOS for survival. If you want passage enough, you can ask them for a pass. If you have actual reason for being there, you can get a pass. If there's no valid reason for you to be there, we don't want you, because you're either:
a) a leecher who wants access to ore or NPCs without working to defend the alliance's space (if you were willing, you'd join the alliance). b) a spy. c) a trader trying to rip off our members with ridiculous prices for items.
The only valid reason I can see anyone for going through anyone's space is travel--in which case most good alliances allow at least the pipes to be open, for example in the case of FIX--we keep the pipe safe for all to travel to--only our own claimed space is NBSI. -- Proud member of the [23].

That's nice validation, but anyone who wants to get through will, either with a covert ops or other means, so all killing neutrals mostly does is just kill the innocent people and do little to detour people who actually want to cause your alliance harm. But hey, killing innocents sounds bad, so it's nice to have a good excuse.
Regardless, congrats on the outpost and it's nice of you to let people in to see it, even if it's temporary.

I beg to differ. I dont know if it is the whole alliance, But Arcane Technologies do indeed attemp to KOS neutrals for no apparent reason. AFAIK, they have no POS nor any other claim in Tegheon, yet twice I have been fired upon by their members for politely waiting to see if they were going to enter the complex or not. One of them I was actually in the process of typing a polite, "Would you like some company or would you prefer to do the plex alone?" When he locked and began firing without a word. It wasnt till after I had warpped away that he convoed me. Maybe RESPECTABLE alliances have a valid reason for KOSing neutrals in THEIR space. But none of this applies to ATUK as they are not respectable and Tegheon is not their space.

a) Do they accept everyone who wishes to join? I'm willing.
b) I though a spy would, by definition, be someone who joins for the purpose of spying; what would they do otherwise, hang around in Local waiting for you all to misline secrets?
c) Rip off with ridiculous prices? Are you FORCED to buy from the guy?
Your justifications suck. And stop trying; who are you going to convince?

a) Most major alliances accept any honest player who can contribute. If you're not going to contribute you shouldn't be there anyways.
b) All a spy has to do is be in local. He can scan people, watch the gates, and follow fleet movements. Finally--spies cripple communications, as you can't chat in local when there's a spy.
Point A is the primary reason why alliances do not let you there. If you don't help the alliance defend itself, you do not deserve the rewards of doing so. -- Proud member of the [23].

So the alliances that have been around for 3 years, control 90% of EVE, and are critical to the entire game economy because they're the only real source of megacyte, zydrine, and high end loot, will suddenly disappear because you say so?

Originally by: Rthor Your alliance has been around 3 years? Tell me more...

Stain has been around since the start of EVE.
Firmus Ixion has been around over 2 years (I think?) since the fall of CFS.
Fountain has been around since the start of EVE, though not in its present form.
PA has existed since the start of EVE, though it has died and resurrected itself about 5 times...
In addition, my point was that *alliances* had been around for 3 years, and probably will continue to be around until EVE dies.
No non-alliance will ever be able to field a force to counter that of an alliance, therefore alliances will always exist.
