Apparently CCP is no longer tolerating use of the multi-boxing software known as ISBoxer, or any other for that matter. I learned yesterday that accounts which were using it are being banned and was pretty concerned since I had just purchased the software about 2 weeks ago and rather enjoyed it. More disturbing was that I had to learn this from a friend...I had no idea that they had stopped allowing it at all since there were no notifications of this policy change that I know of. Anyways, I don't have a ton of accounts like some do, but even I will be shutting down at least one of them, possibly two. It just seems odd for a company that encourages multiboxing with Power of Two promotions to then outlaw the use of programs that make running these extra accounts so much less cumbersome.
CCP if you are going to have a policy change like this you should at least let people know with some kind of obvious warning, so that we don't get banned for using a program that was acceptable in the past! |

I am not sure, but if i understand it correctly only if you use it for botting you get banned. If you have the isxeve.dll loaded you get banned, that is an extension for ISBoxer or something like that.
Better write a petition and ask. German blog about smallscale lowsec pvp: http://friendsofharassment.wordpress.com |

I reckon you'd be more likely to hear something from Noisy Gamer than from CCP with respect to use of particular software earning you a ban.
After all, it's not like the guy running the ISBoxer + Something Else bot is going to say, "aww, I got banned for botting using Something Else" because they know full well they'd get no sympathy. So they point as ISBoxer which everyone else uses legitimately and say, "I got banned, and I was using ISBoxer", which is not technically a lie. They're still lying through omission though.
As much as I dislike keystroke broadcasters like ISBoxer, I'd suggest that if ISBoxer was earning people bans, we'd have heard a lot more noise about it by now.
Just be careful about using ISBoxer to advance faster than normal game play.

You make a good point, but like I said, I did petition, and well, I guess I need some clarification from CCP now :/
As an aside, when I'm missioning I mainly use it to make switching clients a lot easier, but for people using multiple clients it WILL make you 'advance' faster since you don't have to repeat keystrokes across all the clients to fire missiles at a rat for example. |

As far as I'm concerned a lie of omission is as much "technically" a lie as any other. Yes, I'm an alt. Congratulations. |

depends how you define a lie.
omitting the truth isn't a lie, for nothing false has been said. being banned while using isoboxer is true. being banned because of using isoboxer, though... most likely a lie.
i do love the subtlety of the english language. Want miners to move from high sec to null sec? Then give them a reason to join player corps, and stop null sec grav sites being worth less isk/hour than high sec asteroid belts. Really isn't difficult. |

Something is fishy with this guy.
CCP Dev said there's no change of policy, thus nobody will get banned. This guy comes up and spreads hearsay about CCP banning people from ISBoxer. CCP will not have a Dev say 1 and act 2 just a few days later without notice.

Probably is the same when they say "so now client cache scrapping is illegal? i was banned for it, need a clarification, so also using EvE-Central can get you banned now" and forget to say they were:
- scrapping cache to get market data in real time - passing this data to an esternal software they wrote - redirect the output on some other auto-keyrecording software - using this to send command to EVE client and change market orders while AFK - sell the isk on RMT sites
But the only thing they remember is the cache data scrapping. And pretend to assume that since CCP said is ok then means anything you do involving it becomes legal.

I used to run 5 accounts without any extra software or special keyboards, all on one PC. It really isn't all that difficult. Buying third party software is kind of silly, and I do think it shouldn't be allowed. I really hope CCP does start doing something about it. If you want to have that many accounts, then manage them like you are supposed to, and not be lazy about it. They could banhammer it at any time pointing to the EULA, chapter 6 paragraph 3. Programs like ISBoxer are a violation of it.
So far they have just not taken any action against it. |

Yes, they have said as long as you are at the keyboard controlling the clients, even if you are using program like synergy to broadcast to multiple computers, that this is not botting(and it isn't) and is not a banable offense. There was a guy who taped together a bunch of mice and keyboards to prove that he could just do that to control multiple clients at once, but that it is obviously quite silly not to use a program that does the same thing more effectively, and ccp agreed at the time and allowed synergy and isboxer etc. |

You say that as if multi-boxing being banned is a bad thing, hell, even Blizzard have just stopped it working in WoW. Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them. |
