This would be the storyline for the RPG Heavy Gear. Same thing happened, Earth was head of a huge Empire and some colonies got cut off for a long time. When Earth was able to come back and reclaim its lost colonies, those colonies had their own technology (Gear tech which is mech/walker) and government structure and of course resisted. The terrans had bioengineered soldiers and advanced hover/antigrav technology. Very cool storyline. I would like to see the Eve Gate open, a massive Earth Fleet come in and wreak havok and then the Gate collapse again trapping the Earth fleet here and they become another faction. WOuld be great fun for Dust and Eve. Actually that is also the storyline for Warhammer 40k lmao.
Warhammer 40k was more along the lines of Earth blowing itself up first.

If we assume that Earth never suffered from a dark age like EVE did, then they would be 16k years ahead of EVE and most likely no longer human. I think the Jovians are still in contact with Earth, wouldnt that be interesting.... |

Maybe we have no control over our actions in New Eden. Maybe the Humans on Earth have advanced so much they are controlling Capsuleers and Mercenaries alike via a network of computers called 'The Internet'.

i have a theory the only our side of the eve gate close. and it opened somewhere else. and this somewhere else is where our wormholes go. hence the sleepers are actualy true terrans. |

The more I think about it, the more I want to believe that the Terran Empire / whatever you want to call them was destroyed. So if the EVE Gate ever did reopen.. well hello to another immensely huge addition to an already giant map.

Maybe the Earth and all the other civilizations on the Adam side collapsed as well due to the Adam gate doing what the Eve gate did to the Eve cluster, in addition to the Adam worlds running out of the resources they needed to sustain their advanced way of life. Maybe we're the remnants of said collapsed civilization. Maybe we recreated part of our own back story, one including our colonies, and don't even know it.

Kirjava wrote:Well, heres a big one with regards to the fiction only CCP can answer, and its a specific part of the knowlege of Earth I'm curious to know.
Does CCP know what happened to Earth and the Terrans? Not asking to be told, I don't like spoilers if they are part of the overarching plot I hope is there.... But I just need to know, is there a sealed vault with an envelope sealed with the blood of TomB containg what happened to Earth, that the knowlege exists in a plot Bible somewhere that is never to be revealed fully.
I suppose ultimately this is like a worshiper asking a priest if God exists... but still.
tl;dr
Anyone at CCP know what happened to Earth, no need for spoilers.
I'm writing a story right now, it quotesQuote: On the opposite side of the wormhole, the wars of our greed brought an end to our race. World by world we fought for land, resources, and power till the worlds that sustained us were no more than uninhabitable rocks floating in depths of space. Those who survived soon starved or suffocated in the empty void. Many colonize in New Eden shared the same fate.
That's what i think, but no one knows. Hell CCP probably did not even think of this. But what really happened to Earth and the milky way is what you think. |

Something that no has yet to mention is that fact that the universe is infinite. Scientist have yet proven that there is an end to the universe. There are millions if not billions of galaxies out there. What if the case is that terrans after the EVE gate collapse still has been able to find what galaxy it went to. That the EVE galaxy is also so far away that they just haven't been able to find it. |

There are many theories, though what I liked to see, is the eve gate opening once again and the Terrans coming through it because they spent this 16k years trying to develop the technology to leap great distances like using the Eve Gate. I imagine they don't need stargates to travel anymore, so they spent their time trying to develop Eve Gate Travel.
Imagine in a expansion where the eve gate opens and they come through. All the wars stop to focus on the eve gate, They gather around the new highly advanced ships that reappeared. They open comms with all the ships and empire around the area only to say one thing. "We have come to reclaim what was rightfully ours." |

I prefer the idea that something like the Columbian exchange was going on, and that the Terran side needed New Eden badly as a core interest more than as a component of a colonisation program of the Milky Way. However having done back of the envelope calculations I don't understand why the Terrans would have needed Stargate technology as an absolute necessity, nor that they didn't colonise the entire Milky Way.
We know our current tech is inferior to the Terrans, but we could take a vessel and cross the entire Milky way in under a century, even accounting for pausing to recharge capacitor and picking up new fuel. No, I think that the current backstory is s theory that the people of New Eden have, not what actually happened.
It would be interesting to go back through Eve and see that a similar dark age / collapse occurred on the other side, maybe introduce 8 or so new races from the rubble.

That is indeed a good question. Considering the short time span that the EVE gate was open and how quickly and how far they got in New Eden, the Terrans must have had more advanced ways of travelling than we do. At the very least jumpdrives that don't require a lock on beacon or warp drives a lot faster than ours. It's the only way they could have gotten out there quick enough to build a stargate network seeing we need a gate on either end for a connection to work. Unless of course they had gate tech that eliminated the need for a partner on the other side.
It's possilble though that because of resource reasons it was just easier to still use a get network, so not every ship needed to have that jumpdrive or whatever. Could even have been a form of control. It's been suggested in Templar One that the powerful factions of those times kept strict control over the resources needed for warp travel. Planets were being sold for colonisation in New Eden afterall, so I can imagine there being factions trying to keep a measure of control over everything.
In this dark void we are like brilliant stars, holding within us both the creative and destructive power to bring a new dawn upon worlds or plunge them into eternal darkness. |
