ive been away from eve a while and i was not surprised to see crows nerfed. Unfortunatly this is what i specificaly trained for. although it seems they have just stamped a lable on NERF CALDARI altogther. as a precaution i did train to fly the taranis. i flew it once before with blasters but on my return i hear lots about rails. i know the taranis is a top inty but how do you Equip it?

You obviously haven't fought any crows postpatch. Its easilly the best 1v1 inty now.

I have, and i chewed them all up. Mostly using Blasteranis. Maybe I just haven't fought a competent pilot or whatnot, but when you manage to bear down on a crow with MWD and kill it before it even pierces the meagre shields of a Taranis, you get pretty jaded on the crows performance.
I fly them myself, and theres no way i'd throw it against a gun ceptor now

Consider this a challenge (to bazman), name your place and time. Oh, and don't bring a blaster-ranis, I may die from laughing too much.
Back on topic: Don't put blasters on your Taranis, use t2 125s.

I'm not too bothered if i'm proved wrong, at least it will shake my belief that Crows are completely gimped. Any salvation for Caldari PVP ships is good :P

Crows are in no way gimped, in fact crows are the only inty that gives my taranis a problem. Though I think the tactics crows have to use now to survive are lame.

u must be absolutely crazy the only ranis i lost to after patch with my crow was one with 400mm rolled tungsten, dual webs and blasters and still he blew me up right as my lasts volley popped him....Props on the fight btw to DREDD. Crow is sick now for 1v1
rapid launch and rocket spec lvl 5 ftw

Youre talking about short range setups here?
Cause ive done quite a l¾t of test server duels with my long range claw and i have been defeating crows with no real problems.
I got optimal at 12km with 280mms (phased plasma) and mwdII + overdrive.
Unless a crow finds a way to catch up with me (quite difficult), i always keep them at this distance, and just take them out real quick, as their rockets dont have this range, and light missiles suck.
Cant imagine how a crow would beat a setup that forces it to fight at 11km+, same goes prolly versus taranis with rails.

Well, he will kill you while losing maybe 5-10% shields, depending on the type of light drones you use.

A crow might not beat you, but you wont beat him either, unless the pilot is an idiot. A well flown crow might not always win, but it wont lose.

Well I agree my test server scenario is of course not really representative, as hardly anybody quits a fight when facing the counter setup there.
Still, do not underestimate a salvo of phased plasma ammo or fusion(low resist on crow), often youd have to realize your outgunned very quick or its too late...
And Warp Disruptors might also be an option.
However, I agree that it is a really demanding task to defeat a crow, you gotta keep him in 10km-20km all the time and take him down really quick, as your cap will run out else. And once you get below 10km, youre dead in a matter of seconds.
Still, if you dont get lag and have a decent connection, a crow does not stand a chance IMO.

If you use Blasters, be smart about it, lure ships to follow you by warping to planets, don't engage if you know your going to have to approach your target while webbed from 10km and so forth.
Rails are nice, but you need speed, most common rail taranis setups don't have a webber, so you need to stay above 10km. If you can dictate the range of the fight with greater speed, you should be able to keep another inty within warp disrupter distance and kill him.

That setup sucks vs intys, as standard missiles do **** all damage unless they are webbed.

Becuse there range is so funky they do worst damge then 125's at just about any range.

LOL, your DPS with this setup against another ceptor is what? 5? :)
I am pretty sure that every ceptor in the game can tank a whopping 5 damage/sec :)

Only way to win crow now are long range intys... with 3 med slots.
Simply crow is not fast enough... and u slowly chew his ass while he tries to web u... but somehow u need to have better web/navigation than he has.
Also crusader with 400mm plate and gatling guns might be able to do it, but there is no way to scramble... and no web is way to die.
