Edited by: Talos Darkhart on 29/09/2005 09:06:35 I can mine roughly a full can of ark in an hour in my osprey which sells when refined for roughly 17mill. But I only mine once every 3 months or so and get most of my isk from PvP those northen alliances drop good loot so on a minining day about 64mill on a PvP day fairly random but average must be about 10mil a day.

Edited by: Wrayeth on 29/09/2005 09:16:15 Man, I wish I could stand mining - guarranteed income as opposed to the pure chance you get from ratting.
My income varies from two or three million per hour to more than 20 million/hour depending how the rat spawns are on a given day. The rat spawns suck on most days, so it's usually towards the lower end of the spectrum. The only time my income dramatically increases is if I'm able to devote two or three hours to prepping the system (killing off all the cruiser spawns repeatedly until most have been replaced by battleships), then however long actually making real money.
Ah, well. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a ballistic control II in the next lottery or somethin'. It'd be nice to be able to PvP full time. -Wrayeth

Or you can combine the two. A couple of months ago I logged on and decided to spend an hour or so mining kernite in a local system. When I got to the belt I saw four rats and since that's a bit too many leave flying around I decided to take them all out. I happened to notice that one had an odd name - some kind of rank I think.
After taking them out I needed to position my ship and flew close enough to grab some loot. In one of the cans was an item that gave +11 power core or somesuch. Turned out it was worth 37mil. Not a bad find in a 0.7 system and it pumped up my hourly average for that session :) -- (Battle hardened miner)

30mil an hour from complexes and an incidental 500m from faction loot which sometimes happens twice a day and sometimes not once per week.

I make about 1-3m an hour running level 3agent missions, inc bountys. I'm trying to get into trading as that seems to be where the easy/decent money is, and I can do that while missioning, but can't find any decent routes as yet and don't have remote trading skils.

As a noob (less then 21 days) .. I was thrilled to make about 600K per hour on mining Feiry Kernite in some 0.6 system including the bounty for the rats, from which I sometimes need to run to repair (rocket-spitting rats).
With this hard work (first making smart-warp-bookmarks to the fields, refinery and highest buyers) I was able to make my first 10M in one week time.. to buy my first cruiser (2.2M on insurance ).
To read that others make this in less then 3 days is .. .. is both a shock as inspiring.

I make, maybe 1 mil a day if I push my agent. Its enough to keep me and my Rifter happy.
Hopefully in the next few months I'll have spare iskies for a Jag, then its onto high quality level 2 agents (also heard its possible to do level 3's in an assault ship).
I dont intend on moving beyond Frigs, already seen too many asshats from my wanderings into lowsec. Losing a cruiser would just not be my idea of fun, a frig stands a fighting chance of warping out. ------- Bringer of Squirrelly Wrath - Foaminian Card Cult

Those'll be Sansha's Enslavers :)
I remember them being a PITA back when I was a noob. Even now I choose not to try and passively tank my Apoc against one of them and wouldn't dare fly my hauler into a belt if I knew one was there. Vicious little swine. They have an even more vicious cousin 'Sansha's Butcher' in 0.4 -- (Battle hardened miner)

I've been here awhile and this topic comes up every few months it seems. I'll repeat what I said the last time... All of you guys that are bragging about making X amount of ISK per hour should seriously rethink how you are making and managing your money. This is equivalent to the guy flipping burgers at the local fast food place bragging about his $6/hour salary. Let's say that you then become a high priced consultant or something that makes $200/hour. This doesn't matter, as you are still a slave to your work. Even if your hourly rate goes up, you're still making an hourly rate.
The real money comes when you think in terms of percentage growth and investments. Instead of thinking "X ISK/hour", think in terms of "X percentage per day or week". If you can have 25% growth per week, then you'll find that your wallet will grow exponentially. While 25% of 10 mil might not be that much, 25% of 200 mil is a good amount. When that new amount is reinvested, and then reinvested again, and again, you can quickly see some serious money flow in. Imagine 25% of a billion? With this kind of growth, one billion is only a few steps away from 200 million. Obviously you'll want to be spending some of that cash on items and ships, but if you can keep growing your money, you'll have more to spend.
And no, you do not have to start with billions to have good growth. And you don't have to have OMGWTFUBERSKILLS to do it, either. However, a good combination of hourly work and investments can often be the best strategy for a brand new player.

Actually, you don't need remote trading skills, they are just a "nice to have". If you can't find "decent" routes, then you're looking at the wrong category of items and/or in the wrong locations. While trading is "easy" from a pilot's point-of-view, it is still difficult in terms of planning, logistics, and research.
I hope this helps. Change your thinking!

This guy has taken this question way to seriously.
I like to spend most of my time trying to PvP. I usually fly my megathron and patrol some of our alliance space closer to empire looking for things to shoot. If things are gong slow i will warp into some of the local belts and maybe pick off a few BS rats. When i realy need the isk i sometimes chain a few spawns and usually get 7-8 mill an hour in bounties then refine or sell the loot bringing it up to arround 15 mill/hour.

Make of that what you will. I'll consider it irrelevant auto-stroking and cause for curiosity in some quarters.
haha, no one said i made 1 bil. I said I would make 1 bil in the future. I also didn't want to sound arrogant in here since I wouldn't get the "normal" players to reply back making this poll an uneven one. Try not to put words in other people's mouths. It makes you much less crediable and don't hate because you can't figure out how to make money.
Right. Future tense. My mistake, must've gone scrolling by a wee bit too fast for my old eyes. Here's the log, with other people's comments largely edited out for clarity:

[ 2005.09.01 13:17:40 ] KrAyZiEz > i got the numbers here [ 2005.09.01 13:17:42 ] KrAyZiEz > they dont lie [ 2005.09.01 13:17:47 ] KrAyZiEz > i'm doing about 100mil a day now [ 2005.09.01 13:17:48 ] JP Beauregard > Yes, that's a remarkable career [ 2005.09.01 13:18:01 ] KrAyZiEz > 100mil
It's still irrelevant auto-stroking.
And if you are concerned about my financial well-being: don't be. Really. I gave away 3.5b in cash, a fleet and a half in fully fitted ships, hundreds of millions of ISK in Tech II components, a sizeable bp collection and several containers full of modules last March - because I simply didn't need them.
hmmmm automatic ....
sounds like someone is planning to use..MACROS...and get banned...I say lets let the GM's in on his planns for automatic mining setups... the answer is...42. |

Ratting in 0.0 in my Apoc - about 10M ISK per hr (+loots) if I don;t get any dread spawns. If I get some Dreads or Officers, then
The best ISK/time I ever got was 80 mill in 30 secs when some stupid n00b left 9 harvies floating around in a belt in Grinacanne -- Remember: Pillage, then burn

Average if I actually work about 10 mill a day. But I really just like to goof off, so I make 2 mill a day, even though, most of that time, i'm not actually playing. I have made 100 mill a day and if I wanted to go back out to 0 space, I could easily do that again, but I'm just hanging in empire getting a new venture going for now and chillin'. That's with one character. I think alts are evil. hehe

I think NPCing is just as boring or even more boring than mining for me. only instead of activating mining lasers you activate weapons....with barely any risk to your own health. At least with mining you get over the whole boring money making part of this game faster. NPCing is too much luck dependent. now complex running is a little bit more fun than straight up npcing.

Edited by: Jezala on 29/09/2005 18:09:59 Never thought about it until now...my average day's income is derived from 4 different sources:
1. Trading - I spend about 2-3 hours a week setting up my investments and trading routes for that week. The profit generated from this activity averages to about 4-6 mil a day.
2. NPC hunting - The occasional 750k, 1 mil, or 2.5 mil rat that I come across while traveling through 0.0 usually generates an income of 2-4 mil.
3. Complexs - Tend to do these every other day or so. Income generated is approximately 15 mil a day.
4. PvP - Like compelexes, I don't PvP every day. It tends to come in spurts. I typically don't sell the loot I get, but if I did I'd have to guess that I average about 3-5 mil worth of PvP loot a day.
So it looks like on the low end I make about 21 mil a day and on the high end I make about 27 mil. This is usually enough to maintian my fleet of ships and replace any loses to PvP while at the same time allowing me the affordability to purchase the expensive faction stuff. I maintain a nice steady growth which could easily be ramped up if I decide to take on large financial goals.

Been playing this game for almost 2 years, and i still dont even make more than 5-10 mil a day.
I just pvp, die, rat to pay for ship, get ship, die, rinse repeatx 1 year few months.
I could live off of 1 bil for many many many many many many months.
