Edited by: BrightCandle on 27/07/2003 01:30:41 Today an alliance of three corps attempted to take over fountain and force all others to retreat. Those three corps are Xanadu, Evolution and Outland Emperius Command. A large battle took place and the combined forces of the 3 were defeated.
The corps who took part in the defence of fountain have agreed to defend against future attempts to take the region by force. These corps are: Lost Prophets Independant Manufacturers Homeworld Technologies Tycho Heavy Industries XenoTek Corporation Generals of Destruction Syndicate The Corp Unsteady Corporation Damage, Inc. X-Factor CoRM Blade runners Technell corp Rona
This is not another stain alliance, but an alliance to allow all those with peaceful intentions free access to the fountain region. |

It was a good time had by both sides I think. Oddly enough, some members on their "safe list" have no idea they were even on it. This was a very poorly planned campaign on their part if so. Not to mention the 3 corps involved could never hold fountain alone to begin with. Oh well, whatever, hostilities are continuing as I type this, back to work. Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

The dozens were killed prior to a proper conflict, many of them solo players. But hey.. who gives a...
Tomorrow I guess we'll see an even bigger battle... I have insured my battleship and am sure it'll be laggier and even more fun tomorrow!
For those wondering most of us are having a good time. Local chat is not filled with "my gun is bigger than yours" but with opponents congratulating each on their achievements and swapping tales.
Fountain will be free and fun as before

Revolution............. dozens? Can u say that without laughing? Or is that some misplaced toughguy act? Once we were joined and came after you u got spanked. Ganking solo players in the middle of an instaspawn at a roid belt, with a damned fleet, and that poor dude in a shuttle, well, if that is your idea of inflicting dozens of losses so be it. I look fwd to tomorrow. Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

If it's one I like, I may get over to join in the fun.

Spanked? Nah, not spanked. A smart fleet knows when to pick and choose it's fights Prophet, any decent leader knows that.
And Rid's right, this is a hell of a lot of fun, can't wait for round two:)

One thing I find strange is that TTI is at war with Evolution (just read that somewhere) but share a major treaty with Xanadu.
Did I get something wrong here. What gives?

Interesting how we get mocked in local when they had a fleet camped above a home station, trying to pod anyone undocking, yet when the tables are turned, they too played the dock/undock, warp in/warp out game.

Evolution using pirate tactics, smart. Not as stupid as the other 12 banded corps. Shows truely how much combat experience the others have had. ANYTHING more than 12 ships will lag the battle. The server can't handle the content that is produced. I am startin to like evolution, and I thought they were just some pansy mining corp.

Edited by: Omniwar on 27/07/2003 05:55:12 Hmmm, perhaps you could tell us why we are so stupid? I really cant see it you know since we won the big fight.
But then again I guess you would call anything stupid, but who has any plans here, you or we ? I really cant call it a plan to strife for the next kill and hope some big bad mofos wont come and kick your ass and the big bad mofos being the stupid 12 from the Fountain

Oh, maybe. Basically I want bigger corps to engage in battle and see how crappy it really is, so when they start whining how, it took em a week to train large turrets and they miss every time. The more people that whine = change

about 10 fps is as crappy as it really is... still you can play its no worse than my mates p500 with geforce 2 and he still manages.

athlon xp 2000+ (with coolermaster aero 7+ cooler, very proud of that!) 512mb ddr ram ga-7va mobo leadtek a280le tdh (geforce 4 ti4200 based)
experience: bout 10fps, not to bad considering, could'nt really moan considering the circumstances, i think a battle like this is viable in such a state as everyone has probably got equal lag so we are fighting under the same conditions.

Well Ywev my large turrets did just fine! Did you train up your gunnery skills?

I have a Pentium 2.4, 512 dram, Sparkle GeForce 4200ti 128mb.
FPS wasn't very high.. I tried to zoom in and out and it was a proper slideshow. The bigger problem was targeting and punching keys to shoot.. the result was visible some time later so you didn't know if you had managed to get a lock (or if the other player had docked) and if your turrets were shooting at the target.
This was not as laggy as the big battle on Chaos though so that's something.

The way guns are programmed is like this. Large guns are supposed to do more damage against bships. Medium = cruisers. It doesn't do it. Let look at projectile guns for example. The rate of fire is doubled of what med guns are, the damage is doubled. Tracking speed gah, dunno how badly its been tuned. So basically your doing the same amount of damage.

I have an athlon 1400mhz, geforce4 ti 4800 and 640mb sdram, and my fps was plummeting after the battle started. The first seconds or so I might have had 5 fps, but at the end I had several seconds between each frame. |
