Doens't really matter. It only takes time to train skills and as I've said before time is a neverending natural resource. ----- Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene 5, Moon 4, Duvolle Laboratories Factory. Ammo at affordable prices. |

Is there any way to aqcuire Black Market skill other than Character Creation? If not, then I find that quite strange that only characters that have it from start can use it.
Maybe available through an agent? Certainly not on the Market, I checked (and yes, with the "Show only available" unticked).
Would love to have this skill, since there are times when you can pick up cheap Spirits or Slaves, and would like to sell them for profit.
As it is now, you can fly Spirits freely in Gallente systems, but you can't sell at Amarr stations within Gallente sovereignity. More precisely, the Ducia Foundry stations. Would be nice to have a chance to sell contraband there, especially since they have large buy orders for Spirits in those stations :P
Anyhow, any cues on how to obtain Black Market skill (except through character creation) would be appreciated :)

This doesnt work anymore .. You can get caught transporting contraband this way just as easily.

What you do is not put it in a secure can, rather setup a courier mission to yourself.

the skills you get in character creation aren't in book form, you start with them on the skills tab of your character sheet...so no book you could pass to another character.
Frankly, the description of this skills makes it sound as if 40% is the most you can lower your odds of detection to, that still sounds pretty risky...unless this is further enhanced by things like cloaks and stuff (which I don't understand at all, don't think you can use a gate cloaked for instance.)
All in all, still don't understand the attraction of this skill. Sounds like you would still be caught almost half the time with the skill maxed?

It's a shame they don't make this available through an important transport/personnel mission, or from the pirate corps.

Is there substantial demand for smugglers? I've yet to see any "smuggler" missions, but I am still new to EVE.

Any frig with a MWD can get past concord in high sec with contraband...
MWD to gate
Concord webs you, message pop up "take the fine and we conficate your crap or you die...etc."
Wait a while, get in jump range (AP ON) hit "NO", and jump..

yeah 40% chance getting caught sounds bad, but having transported amounts through 1.0 space several times and not getting caught, I think its not that bad ----------------------------------------------------------------- check out 'narcotics' channel for all your questionable needs -----------------------------------------------------------------

I've been playing for some time now and I realized that I would really enjoy moving away from traditionnal trading to smuggling. The black market skill would be extremely usefull to avoid these pesky fines, but it isn't sold anywhere... It just doesn't make sense that this is the only (correct me if I'm wrong) skill that is available only through character generation. I don't want to start all over just for one lousy skill, however tempting it may be.
There's got to be another way...

People don't think :p
1) Make an alt
2) Trade gate to gate instants from your main to your alt
3) Use instants
= No getting caught w/ contraband
(Note you don't even need the alt)

You can just as easily just place them in your hold. It will be found just as easily (used to be possible, but changed some time ago) , but because there's no standing/isk-loss atm for tags you will only get a mail in which you get a standing loss of 0.00 and an isk-cost of 0.00 I brought all my tags together a week ago and all all i got was 1 mail.
