Edited by: Deacan Wildfire on 30/09/2005 02:20:31 I've tried connecting to the proxy on all the ports that my uni's firewall allows, but no luck. The closest I can get is on port 110 the loader gets to "performing pre-authentication handshake".
Here's a website with all the services that are supposed to work under this firewall, and the ports they use: http://www.kent.ac.uk/is/computing/sbs/availableservices.html
Am I screwed or is there a way around this?
Cheers

I'm having the same problem now, despite having it working fine the last few days.
Chribba; is your proxy server still running or is it a problem at our ends? Thanks.

Heh, I've just started at Kent, wasn't aware that anyone there played EVE. I managed to get the proxy working via port 465, all the other ports I tried gave me problems.
PS. I have sent a port request into the computing department. They are going to consider my request, but not until the middle of the term.

Well I've just logged on fine, so I have no idea why you cannot connect.

Kent Canterbury?
Guess I'm just unlucky...
Anyway, you should get on the uni's IRC server (irc.compsoc.kent.ac.uk) if you arn't already. Havn't met many people here who've even heard of eve, let alone played it

EDIT: Its working again!
EDIT2: Chribba; what are your plans for this proxy server? Is it going to be a permanent feature or just a temporary test?
Yep proxy should still be up and running, but I have been on vacation for a few days so I dunno the past status yet.
As of now it's perm but I haven't taken any decisions yet, am still waiting for my new server then I should know for sure.

I think it must be the UKC network. I've just managed to log on, but I tried a couple of times during the day and it just would not connect.

doh, and now it's stopped working again.
maybe it has something to do with how many people are using the proxy at once?

There isn't any limit, at least not any limit that has been reached. I have set my firewall to allow 25000 connections at the same time and so far it has not been near that limit so I highly doubt that that is the issue.
But I will try look into it, but it should be available 24/7 unless TQ somehow limits the connections coming from the same IP?
Any DEV know anything on this?

Edited by: Callistus on 04/10/2005 17:41:05 It hasn't been working for me since yesterday, but I have a feeling its a problem at my end.
EDIT: Well its been working since downtime today, I've no idea why seeing as I have changed nothing. Also I emailed support and they replied that there is at present no limit on the number connections from the same IP address.

I attend Auburn, in my dorm I can access eve no problem through my lan. But I would like to keep an eye on whats going on during class.
I set up a second eve and changed the prefs.ini file so that I am able to change the port on the log in screen.
I am currently using http-tunneler, but not sure it's the program I need. Can someone please give me a link to a better tunneler program? and maybe some more advice about over comming the Auburn wireless system.

I'm at uni of Plymouth and I am having no luck with the proxy he set up. We have to dial into a VPN to be able to browse and our proxy is configured with a script. If you want I could post the settings of both so maybe you could work out what I have to do? I miss EVE loads.

Your proxy does not work for me unfortunately.
The trouble lies at my end but I am running out of ideas as to what I can do.

If your uni does not allow outside connections on any port without it having to go through the vpn/webproxy there is not much you can do as my proxy does not support http-connections, but sure if it allows outside vpn connections I guess I could think through and set up a vpn server that would allow you EVE access.

Edited by: Dasiris Cahl on 07/10/2005 10:49:52 It worked yesterday after the extended DT, then went boom. Since then I cannot get it back up.
Edit: best I reach on port 80 is the pre-auth stage. Most other ports yield no result, I guess the firewall is burning them.

Chribba I can't afford at the moment to give monetary donations, but If you'll accept ISK ingame then I'll donate some when I have it!
This is going to keep me sane for a year of Uni!
(Obviously when I'm not out drinking and shagging girls)

whenever I change the networkadvanced to =1 I then get the black screen, whether I delete the pc.dat file or not. So agh what can I do!? been a month now without Eve due to this problem and I would infinitely love anyone who helps me resolve the issue :)

How can I find out what ports my uni's server isn't blocking? I'm at Durham btw, so If there's anyone there who has managed to connect via ensuite-online I'd like to know. -- Remember: Pillage, then burn
