Edited by: Roark on 27/07/2003 18:41:20 Yesterday a pirate corp called Going Limp used an exploit to attack Taggart in empire space. Today they have used a new tactic people should be wary of. I would not call this an exploit, but certainly something that goes around the game design to make Concord an ally.
Shintai undocked in Malkalen (0.9) surrounded by bestowers. Shintai finally joined a corp we are at war with, so now we can shoot him. But all to no avail, because he was being fed energy by his cache of bestowers around him, who we were not allowed to target because they were in other corps.
Furthermore, we could not fire missiles at him because the splash damage would hit the innocent bestowers.
Is this how the game was meant to be played?
Again, we see Shintai, Femme Fatale, and Ganja going around the game design to make Concord their ally by employing the use of innocents. Roark - Taggart Transdimensional - www.taggarttd.com |

Wuuhaaaa
Roark The Master Liar strikes again.
You might have noticed the white cloud surrounding me. And there was alot of newbies and miners passing by. Many just wanted to see a battle. Nobody whatsoever feeded me with every or cap. The point that you are so clueless about what modules exist is terrible when you even fly an apoc.
Maybe if you learned to fight instead of mine you would have known.
All your sucky fighters use lasers, not that hard to defend yourself again. And missiles with all the newbies there? For gods sake, we got a Darwin Award there!
Slander is the way of TTI, nothing else.

Yeah it was pretty sad... I wouldn't call it an exploit either, but if your gonna fight someone do it like a man... Concord is supposed to help out newbs and people that don't need/want PvP. I just hope this gets fixed before more people add it to their tactics...

"But all to no avail, because he was being fed energy by his cache of bestowers around him, who we were not allowed to target because they were in other corps."
How much effort does it take to jam a bestower?..
"Is this how the game was meant to be played?"
I think it's very much the result of how it was warped by constant cries to have the NPC protect the clueless ones.
One could also make a point it's not uncommon in real world for the officially uninvolved organizations to support side of conflict with resources.
The solution to these being, war would be declared on the supporters as well allowing one to shoot them freely.
... oh wait, this ickle bit of gameplay still needs to be fixed.
My bad.

As much as I would like to take credit for this... I cannot remember us having any bestower friends much less any transfer cap. Sadly I arrived after TTI had fled the scene, but it apparent incompetence is trying to get justified by whining again.
I am currently trying to scrape remains of this bestower off the megathrons windshield, while talking painkillers.. I was obviously laughing too much..
TTI gang warping in with like 10+ ships after organizing it for 2 hours, just to fire missles at a battleship standing next to a station (waiting for the 2 apocs to undock which had been hidding there for a while) only to get attacked by Concord for their stupidity is certainly no reason to whine...
Unless your desperatly looking for an excuse for your incompetence... but hey look at it as valuable training

No matter if this happened or not, things like this are unavoidable if a game relies so heavily upon stupid NPCs. It doesn't matter how many times CCP alters how CONCORD is triggered or whatever, there will always be problems like this occuring.

Shintai - quite often you don't see the "white cloud" (dunno whether it's a graphics bug or what) but this thread has me quite literally rofl'ing
Note to TTI : ermmm try mixing up your damage eh? You might see more (ie better) results that way. Oh and using any splash damage weapons in Concord areas is really really stunningly dumb

Can TTI please get over this and move on? You are acting like you are the only ones who have ever had some flaw in the game design used against them. Woe is me... adapt and move on. I have a lot of respect for your Corp and what you guys bring to the EVE community, but this is just getting ridiculous. Ive counted 3 seperate posts made by you Roark, Ragnar, whoever you decide to post on. Enough is enough. Bump the old ones, stop making new ones.

"Why didn't you just ignore concord, take a few shots to decimate the Bestowers, then take out the bad guys?"
i would guess its because they're not pirates, and consider themselves 'good guys'? Does honour mean nothing to the rest of you? Hmm, suppose not seening as being honourable rarely got people to the top...
But firing missiles near to onlookers was something of a bad move on TTI's part.

We are not yelling exploit on this one.
It is certainly not the way the game was designed. If we could have declared war on the bestowers around the coward's battleship, we would have.
All we were saying is the game was not meant to be played like this, using shortcomings to make Concord your ally. Agree or disagree, your choice.

Cap DraŻning and Cap Neutralizing have visible animations that you can see from 20-30km if your looking for it. Afaik shield transfering and cap transfering have an even more visible graphic... I am pretty sure that those bestowers or other ships did not in any way send cap or shields over to the battleships.. infact the powergrid of a proper transfer device is a bit steep for a bestower since anything less than a medium transferer would have been a moot point anyway.
Sad to see TTI sinking to lies now, but ohwell we will se what lame tactic we can employ tomorrow. See ya in the next whine thread guys

Pathethic, 200+ man corp can't kill 1 guy. And why post it in forums, btw? This is 3rd or so post about TTI problems with 2 people. What did you expect them to do? Show up in an empty roid field for a 2 vs 200 battle?

Umm. I can only assume that TTI "fighters" really don't have the first clue about what they're doing here. Despite Shintai virtually telling you why you couldn't take his shields down with lasers (hint - ever heard of a ward? ) you still don't get it. Then you go use splash damage weapons in a Concord controlled area and get blown to pieces
Can we all say "Learning curve"?
NB - I have no affiliation with either side, I just find this damn funny

Edited by: Mark A on 27/07/2003 23:29:27 There were a variety of weapons employed. The real issue is that Shintai just sat outside the station and docked every time his shields got low. Guess he's a new breed of "afk combat pilot".
Since you'll have a hard time killing a frigate that's using this sort of tactic, there was little we could do to a megathron if he wasn't prepared to come out and fight.
Anyway, if Shintai does find his stones someday and ventures more than 15km from a station, we'll be only to happy to come help him join his friend Femme Fatality in our meat locker...
l8r.
*edit* BTW I think the cap-transfer thing is a bit of a red-herring. TTI aren't "lying", but its possible Shintai was using an ECCM or something which has a similar graphics effect. ____________________________________

"The real issue is that Shintai just sat outside the station and docked every time his shields got low."
... ram him out of the range with MWD-equipped ship or two, then pin down with good webifier(s) so he doesn't get within the docking range again?..
.o( no idea if it'd work, actually; for one thing it seems so obvious it most likely wouldn't... :s )

Yeah, we tried to ram him, but didn't work as he was too close to the station, but as always he could insta-dock easily if threatened in any way, including starting to be pushed out of docking radius.
I guess if the members of Going Limp Inc. want to hang out in a station and only come out to make snipe attacks in a megathron against indys mining for trit, then fine, just don't pretend its big or clever.
BTW in the interests of fairness I'd point out that the missile splash damage thing was indeed a f**k up on our part, but guess that's what comes of not hanging out in these noob systems for so long.
If someone does want to fight TTI for kudos then I suggest we do it up in M-OENA, no stations, no cops, no momma to cry to. Not sure if GLI's paymasters would like that one though, although I guess they'll have to show some TTI losses at some point...

Edited by: ImEasy on 28/07/2003 00:25:51 Well har har on this thread.
I was one of the Bestowers outside the station watching, in the end, a rather boring battle. The 3 Bestowers watching are all mining in that area and we went to see what we thought would be a blast. As this is a new character and is only trained to use an indi ship: gunnery level 2, frigate 4, engineering 2, electronic 1, spaceship command 3 I DONT have the skills to transfer energy. What about the newbie there "MrWizzard"...gonna accuse him too? I was even accused of trying to "disrespect" TTI by stealing loot (as no ship was blown that was a hard one to do) I was rammed twice to try to remove me from the scene and even told to dock once...but as i didnt want to miss any podding I stayed...now unless theres a law stating that i cant sit and watch the battle going on right outside a station, im going to do it again.
I have no feelings either way for either corp..i just wanted to see some action that i would never take part in myself...im too pretty to be a fighter and i just love the carebears! So Roark...get over this. We dont all love (or hate) you and your corp..we just wanted to see the action.

Edited by: Mark A on 28/07/2003 01:21:55 It seems likely now, IMHO, that other modules Shintai was activating were mistaken for cap transfers. I guess this was further exacerbated by the sheer unlikelyness of random indy pilots hanging about so close to a ship under attack.
Note that by doing so you've now been BM'd and marked for KOS, so that was a rather dumb thing to do really. I'll try and straighten things out, but next time stay out of the way (>100km is fine) if you don't want to be seen as current or future targets.
Y'know, I'd always wondered who were those people in RL who stand by the side of the road during rally driving events, guess I know now...
*edit* Of course if there is a next time, you won't be given the benefit of the doubt again. ____________________________________
