From what I understand, the bounty pay out is 20% of the ship kill , which softens this "harsh universe game" but also the SAME 20% is applied for a pod kill?
If this is correct, shouldn't there be higher reward for a higher penalty/risk (same could be argued for a gank that takes on a higher risk/penalty too) or is this no longer the future direction of Eve? |

There is almost no risk in attacking a pod. Why would the reward be higher?

Because if one is in empire, you take on a sec penalty and get flagged/killed.

Yes and that risk/penalty needs to be balanced by a reward to encourage mini professions, especially the "bounty hunter" mini profession which seems dead on arrival in empire. |

Compared to attacking a ship in the same situation, the pod target is far less risk.

So I should be able to put a bounty on a freighter in Jita which would then flag him as fair game. Kill him and then claim my own bounty and all his stuff?
Also the bounty system counts the ship loss but not implants.
The reason it pays out 20% is to keep pirates from podding themselves to cash out their own bounty like they could do before.

Since killing a pod is not a necessity for collecting a bounty, unless you are trying to collect the bounty twice, I don't see any reason to do something special for pod kills.
If you really must kill a pod that has a bounty, and are unwilling to accept the consequences, then you need to restrict yourself to those pods that also have a kill right available. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

How can I get into Bounty Hunting if I am going to be concorded for claiming bounties? By being an intelligent bounty hunter who only goes after the bounties that are worth your effort. Treat your business seriously and stop trying to go after shoplifters.
In the case of EVE, it means trying to find me when I fly a JF or trying to find people who have outstanding killrights available on them.

To be a real bounty hunter in empire you have to abuse other mechanics to wardec them but they can use dec shields and sit in NPC corps avoiding it.
Failed feature really, I have to get permission in empire to claim a bounty really, with regards to null, its free for all in null and W anyway, so its irrellevant really, you can kill whoever you want whenever you want whereever you wantin null/w and don't really need other mechanics sure its nice to get money back, but you could do that with the old system on pod kills anwyay in null/w.

Bounty hunting should be "ENABLED" in empire. I realize you are only trolling for responses, and I approve , however I can't help but point out:
1: If you feel safe sitting in Empire, bounty or not, you're kidding yourself.
2: The point being made is that to be a bounty hunter you actually have to think about who and what you go after. The amateur Bounty Hunter will shoot anything and everything with a bounty in high sec. The professional Bounty Hunter will select targets with a bounty that he can make a profit on via suicide gank, or selectively go after those with kill rights, or (depending on the habits of the target) wait until they get a suspect flag. What the target is flying (and it's value) and the size of the bounty figure into this decision.
3: Bounty Hunting in Null sec isn't meaningless. It still pays the same, it's just the decision making process in selecting your quarry is considerably simpler. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. I agree with this. When you think about the kind of people that would have bounties on their head, logically you would think 'pirates, thieves, criminals, etc'. These are the kinds of people that somebody, somewhere, has kill rights for that you can acquire to attack them anytime and anywhere. If you don't have the kill rights, you can always just follow them into null/low, wait until they flag themselves in high sec, or wait until you see them flying something juicy and gank them.
The 'law abiding' person may not ever flag themselves (or even touch null or high sec), but if the bounty becomes high enough it will become profitable for them to be ganked. Odds are sooner or later you will find them in a freighter, fancy mission ship, or at minimum a mackinaw or hulk.
The only people truly safe are the station traders and trade hub trolls who never actually undock. |

I feel very safe in empire with a bounty. I have news for you, sitting oblivious in empire in a Tengu (likely full of juicy expensive mods) with a large bounty on your head would make you a very likely candidate for a gank. There are a lot of disgruntled mission runners that will be happy to substantiate that, and most of them got ganked without the added incentive of a bounty. I dont think that even going bounty hunting killing an tengu will worth the try, even in null sec or whatever. Just saw some calculations that give for 1B killing, you get only 18M of bounty, and I am not calculating here : - The % for your coorp. - The loot. - Insurance. If anyone have any sample where an bounty hunter get profit doing this, I will be glad to know. For me, buy my understand, the bounty system is completly broken. Bisides of that, it should be allowed to put bounty only for negative status like before, just hear histories of peaple trying to do good and get bounty for this, example, an friend that try to hunt bots get an unbelivable ammount of bounty from the bot owners... They should just turn the bounty system off... My opinion, sorry. |

Being a bounty hunter would mean that you hunt criminals and as far as I know those have kill rights even in high sec. When you are talking about claiming a 'bounty' on non criminal members of society you are talking about assasination and not bounty hunting. |

A pod is harder to kill because:
-It has a tienier sig than most frigs (and thus harder to lock) -it has a better agility than most frigs (it can insta warp) -There is a 2 sec delay in destroying ship > pod in on overview thus more difficult
Killing a afk pod in high sec is easy and not comparable to any other situation,
Therefore pods should give a higher payout |

Does not really encourage Bounty Hunting as a mini-profession in empire at all.
Some bad ideas will stay bad forever. -.-
And sadly some people will always try to implement them no matter how much time has passed. There's nothing a million chinese guys can't do cheaper. |

If this is correct, shouldn't there be higher reward for a higher penalty/risk (same could be argued for a gank that takes on a higher risk/penalty too) or is this no longer the future direction of Eve? There is almost no risk in attacking a pod. Why would the reward be higher? Because if one is in empire, you take on a sec penalty and get flagged/killed. only if you are stupid and attack without permission.
however when you podkill suspects or criminals where is the risk? |

Because those are considered penalties or risks these days... Yes and that risk/penalty needs to be balanced by a reward to encourage mini professions, especially the "bounty hunter" mini profession which seems dead on arrival in empire.
Are you serious?
Thats not risk/reward... thats investment/profit...
If you are to dumb to be able to get a pod that is going to be profitable then its not our faults. You are just mad cause your alt cant pod you anymore to get the bounty. |
