Amen. My internet went out for a week, came back for a few days and has been out now for almost another week. So far I've lost about 12 days and a night of training...
..i'm not losing any sleep over it either.

Originally by: Rhyslin No matter how well you schedule things, the point is that you end up having to plan your life and your online time such that at 8:52:46 PM you need to start training a new skill. While it becomes less frequent as you train longer skills, it doesn't change that fact. In fact, many times I've been playing the game when the time came, and missed the notification.
Some might say, this is just part of the game. I guess I'd counter with "Let's have weapons and modules not autofire." It all just comes down to ease of use. A single-length queue just gives you the ability to control your gaming time better, and concentrate on the game, not the mechanics.
A good point well made - and coming from an older char maybe someone may listen?
Do you want a manual weapon reload? How about removing the auto pilot? Plot all way points manually? Of course not, all those things are tedious and automating them is a welcome relief, most of the time.
Do people in this forum object to a queue because they feel they gain an advantage from getting up at silly o'clock in the morning and having a PC at work / school to sign in with?
Or is it your all just fed up of the thread coming up again and again, knowing the devs have zero intention of ever doing anything?
I think the devs to listen, sometimes, with enough whining anything gets nerfed / buffed eventually :)
The argument that it would cause lag - well yes if it was running on the main database, checking for finished skills every minute - but why do that? Why not run it on a completely seperate database, a small database with 3 fields (playerid, time, newskill) that could be scanned once a minute, or even once an hour - give people a max queue (maybe 5 skills) and the table size is max 500k rows, probably much, much less.
So assuming the devs know this, why don't they do it? It really does smack of grinding to punish people for being away from the computer for a few hours.

I don't "object" to a queue per se. I also don't log in at silly times. I swap skills intelligently and I don't care if I lose a day or two here or there.
The reason people are fed up of requests for one are that CCP have apparently stated categorically that it's not gonna happen and that nothing will change that. I'm sure they've thought of all the possible implementations and if they still say it's not gonna happen, well, it's not gonna happen. No amount of *****ing or whining or "I'm an experienced player" is going to make the remotest bit of difference. They're aware that lots of people want it. They have shown no signs whatsoever of having changed their "No." stance. Threads such as this are therefore wholly pointless.

I just wish they would put up a sticky at the top of every forum that said "THERE WILL NEVER BE A SKILL QUEUE"

This DOES work, you know. And if this issue crops up time and again, maybe it IS a very nifty feature to implement.
To all ppl whining about why a thread like this starts u again and again, why read let alone respond to such threads? Act your age...or maybe better don't.

100 ppl moaning does not make it right - CCP have stated their position. Adults listen to that. Children whine on about it.

This is not about right or not, Dejah. It's about convincing ppl that this should be implemented. If you think 'whining' will not help, then you don't know ppl..

If there's one issue in Eve that is fixed in stone and coated in Titanium, it's that there will NEVER be a skill queue, EVER.
If you want one, I suggest you buy out CCP and install your own devs. Short of that, it's not going to happen.

AFAIK CCP's position is that regardless of whether it's a nice idea or not it's not feasible. No amount of "convincing" is going to magically upgrade the servers for free, and thus it's a moot point.

Originally by: Sadist You know that after a certain point skills take at least 2-3 days, while the most time-extensive ones - more than 3 weeks, so a queue becomes kinda useless in that situation.
Yup. I only have to change skills every couple months now. :P

Devs have never stated that it wasn't possible. They've stated that it isn't going to be implimented. They don't WANT to do it.

And similar remarks...
I am stupid, and many with me as well. If you keep asking and arguing why, there always is a chance. Again, you don't know ppl that well. But if you don't like the asking, or if you don't agree, why bother to read this thread and respond? Or are any of you decisionmakers within CCP? In that case your words weigh more heavily.

you dont even need to be able to que these skills all we need to be able to do is access the account online from work (without the full program) and change the traing that way, afterall i can see what skill im traing now but i cant change it - simple and i believe generally popular solution.
