Regarding the T1 ship role changes proposed, I think the Gallente Exequror already has a unique role -- that of armed mini-hauler. If you agree this ship is fine with its current role, please chime in.
The Exequror is already valued for its ability to carry a good bit of cargo and still defend itself. With relatively low skills, a player can get more than 1,000 m3 of cargo in an Exeq. It's great for players doing lower courier missions or picking up loot in gang ops. On the flip side, the "logistics" bonus that would replace the cargo bonus is really crappy and would probably never be used on an otherwise weak light cruiser. A bonus to tracking link modules? Hello??? There are already "logistics" T2 ships that are underused, so why lame a perfectly good, unique ship by giving it that role, and further make the T2 logistic ships less desirable?
I know players who have considered learning Gallente Cruiser skills just to use the Exequror.
If you want to define a shared role for the Amarr Augoror and the Exeq, make them both armed mini-haulers. They'd be FAR more useful than what's proposed, and wouldn't take away from the existing T2s that are overlooked.

I don't use it and I thought it was the armored transport you got if you were to lazy to train for T2 haulers
leave it please |

I' going to have to agree it's one of the only cruisers that already have a role and it does it well it may not be used much but its used, I think if they want to make some ships healers they should just give one cruiser from each race and extra bonus as it does'nt make alot of sense to only give 2 races tech 1 logistics.

I agree with the OP. I currently use mine fitted with a AB2 or MWD and pick up loot cans far faster and lessing mind numbingly than I would in my Domi. I also use it for the odd courier missions I get that require more hold than a light frig. Now admittedly a grid boost would be good, but leave the cargo aspect alone.

while I agree the exeq is a good ship, I find all the roles its useful for can be done as well in a sigil or a badger II

think its good as it is... my 1st cruiser to be honest...
its a good pre-thorax miner and a perfect ninja miner...
and i just heard of this amazing cap booster tank setup...
dont take the easy way and totatly redesign an allready good ship instead of making an entirely new ship...
we need new t1 cruisers anyway...

I wouldn't mind if the bonus were changed if the cargo capacity was raised to 1000m¦ standard.
In general the Exequror should get a big HP boost though in my opinion. I mean the ship is huge! Purely by size its more of a battlecruiser really, but nothing about that ship reflects that.

No not so much. Both the ships you mention (i must admit i really like the sigil design) can mount one light weapon where you can mount various heavier weapons on the exie useful for offense and defense. Secondly they don't have nearly as much grid (sigil 70 base and badger II at 80) and therefore cannot fit class appropriate MWDs to boot.
Both of the ships you suggest are woefully easy to kill, and one of the exie's strength's is it is a cruiser that can haul and defend itself. Certainly not the massive amounts of a fully realized industrial, but enough to be useful for low sec courier missions or dangerous loot run while posing a signifigant threat to frigates while still having escape potential. Something an Indi cannot muster.
Now if they want to give us Battle-type transports with 3-4 weapon mounts and cruiser cpu grids / slots for dangerous hauling stints (with lessened cargo space OFC) then losing the exqueror won't be so bad. Seriously, i would love to fly one, expecially with the sigil hull.
Of course this does raise a different question. When I started I worked my way up through a couple frigates, then up through a couple cruisers and have finally reached BS and will soon be moving into several elite ship branches. Now with all these changes is CCP gimping up and coming players by setting up bonuses to pigeon holeing them into a type of play they may not favor. Granted you don't have to take advantage of bonuses, but in some cases it's mad not to. And i think often times people and CCP forget not everyone is a long time player who can just toss in a couple extra mil for a better ship.
Genuine noobs (points to self after a 2 year abscence) have basically low level ratting or mining to generate isk, both of which aren't all that profitable and a 2 mil difference in cruiser price is huge! So just ponying up the extra isk is not always so easy. I used an exqueror for mining when I came back (600 cargo and 4 turrent spots for lasers) because had no idea what can mining was and using drones to defended myself so I could get some kernite was a gonna make me rich! ::sigh:: nostalgia.
I remember going from reaper to burst (better cargo for mining) and then the glorius day I made it to a probe with soooo much room for mining, and then the rifter! It (in beta) had 4 turrent spots (4 mining lasers!) and could use expanders, glorius, and so on. I think the current set up allows for greater forgiveness to newer players. IF CCP wants specific classes of ships they should create new ships. Not meaning only new elites, but make a taylor made non-elite scout frig etc.. Or hell go elite, just leave the current ships in a state where they are generally effective and flexible for different playstyles, and create special ships for those who wish to go into certain aspects of the game. just my iskies.

CCP should feel free to add to it, but nothing it has should be taken away. ------ I generally assume the following: 1. 95% of Empire Carebears don't get 0.0 PVPers. 2. 95% of 0.0 PVPers don't get Empire Carebears. 3. 100% of Ore Thieves steal just to upset the Miners. |

not really, again the blockage runners have neither the grid nor the firepower to pull of the niche jobs the exie had seemingly settled into. But i have to admit i am so gonna train for a proator, pity i've never seen one for sale.

Edited by: madaluap on 20/09/2005 08:22:47 yeh exequror is a sortof industrial ship, which doesnt mean its bad. in my noobdays i used that ship too and i just know that its an important ship for starting players.
its better to have a good industrial cruiser than a crap pvp ship...because in that case Nobody will fly it.

I mined in an Exequror to get a Brutix. With the sizeable cargo hold it can mine heavy ores with ease, as you don't have to empty your hold every 30 seconds. Don't touch the cargo bonus!

That's exactly the point. The Exqueror does it better than the transport ship in many ways. That's messed up.
BTW there's Prorators for sale in Domain, at least last I checked. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

I agree. The Exequror is a useful ship as it is right now. I know I'd fly it even less if it had it's bonus changed.

yeh leave it as it is. also whil we are on the matter, leave the imicus as a hauling frigate too. when i was on my first few days i used one to save up for a hauler so i could use it to get a cruiser (which was the exequor too) used it for ratting but still, changing frigates and cruisers in this way so they are move viable for use in fleets is just silly. how many noobs ya see running round in fleet battles trying to remote repair people or using ecms. not very many and then even less performing special tasks.although i havent used any of them in years and wouldnt unless i needed a specific task, noobs do need em the way they are so they can progress. its nice that the vets are being thought of and ccp are trying to make more ships accesible for us. but i think they are needed more by pilots who arnt gonna use them for pvp _______________________________________________

The cargo bonus is unique and incredibly useful for new players trying to mine in lowsec. They can't jetcan mine in case npcs come, and they can't secure can mine because if npcs come they may have to wait hours to be able to retrieve the contents of the can.
You can mine incredibly small amounts with zillions of trips home in a vexor, osprey, scythe etc. but its horribly inefficient. The beauty of the exequror was that you could actually use it mine a whole load of low-sec ores without losing time making endless trips.
As a miner is was a great little ship and totally distinct from the miner ships of the Caldari and Minmatar.
And yes, it is superb as as mini-transport ship too. It's a sophisticated ship fulfilling a highly unusual role and it would be tragic to see it go.
