Edited by: Crusher166 on 21/09/2005 14:53:51 1. dual mwd/ab nerf 2. map nerf to make it a 30 min timer 3. the addition of missile target prediction thingy (tracking) 4. the missle nerf 5. the warp disruptor timer change (stopped flybys) 6. Jamming nerf :((( 7. When lvl4 agents were released. 8. petiions for reimbursment that arent reimbursed beacuse of "lack of logs"!!!!! it makes the baby jesus and i cry. 9. EDIT: and lag :)
If dual mwd/abs were allowed still, the missle tracking thing wasnt introduced and missles wern't nerfed then cruisers and frigs and BS would all be happily balanced imo
but, eve is still the best MMO around... just it would be about 10x better without the 9 failiures i mentioned

lag is not much of an issue but affected a lot of stuff in gemini. I guess yeah I would go for:
1)alts 2)No unique locations (some good POI's but not things to 'explore' 3)that planets and stars dont really exist (you cant land/crash on them or utilise them) 4)each race should have its own 'feel' of space. This occurs with objects to a sense, but still space is very empty. 5)the way pvp is so fast.
some other thoughts I had were stuff like Eve under different circumstances like what if questions like I think given the nature of balance now, a server wipe and fresh restart would be very beneficial imo. The other one is what eve would have been like under an RvR concept where race mattered.

1.) I don't think the adding of all this new content is such a good thing.
I appreciate the devs must face difficult decisions, as to whether they should add content to prevent things getting stale or leave certain things how they are. I think T2 battleships will be a bad move...
The games got to evolve, but i think stuff needs to be added only if its needed, and not to just please the fans.
Think of painting a picture, sometimes its best to just leave it and say its finished than to keep adding bits and making it look cluttered, eve imo is getting that way...
2.) Also Lag in Fleet battles really needs some attention, i'm not a technoferret so i dont know if anything can be done about it, but the lag can be pretty severe.
3.) soo many bugs...

Responding to the question-the lottery for tech is just wrong it doesn't fit anywhere in the game. Given that it is there why aren't the rules for stealing the design in play it seems that they were meant to go together(research in lab). I forget the proper term used. I'm not sure the game designers, and granted it is a game, have a good grasp of war theory or weapons design. I don't see the known constants of speed, armor, gun power and now electronics showing out in their racial designs. Or at this point in humanities development can they be that different. The economic system is cute but it doesn't make much sense. The basic prices for minerals doesn't match ship costs or insurance. Since the NPC"s don't sell to the players as far as I have been able to find, player buy sell orders seem to be way out of wack and this follows on into production and finding specialist items. To the controlled averages mean anything NPC's should start selling to players and rats should be dropping more high tech loot by now. The rats and their loot suck. You fight a battleship these days and most of the time it's dropping loot that you would find on a cruiser or a frigate. It must be those 10mm microwarps that get that rat battleship up to 650 kps r-i-g-h-t! Lag, no more need be said. Logs, the basis for gm petition decisions are either too complicated to be read by the gm, don't code all the material needed or are a legend made up by the gm's to account for the fickle quality of their dice rolling. And don't you get tired of thearing that the logs don't show the problem!!!

- ********** R&D Blueprint Distribution **********, should have been BPC¦s 200 run which when used up will be redistributed, and not people with 10 BPO¦s from the same agent in 2 months
- The promissed science features on the game box I so liked and created this now 35 mill SP¦s char with 27 int \o/, thnx CCP that int was so usefull

Alts, instas, safespots. The true gamebreakers. These factors makes "non-consensual PVP" a very doubtful expression. You should not be able to work your way around designed dangers.
Currently the most immediate flaw is the way Nosferatus makes PVPing in anything smaller than battleships kinda dull.

#1 - CUSTOMER SUPPORT The most contradictory and outrageous staff I've ever had to deal with. This is THE most annoying thing of this game, I've had some bad experiences with these guys.
#2 - MISSILE CHANGES Although we all changed and adapted, the obvious lack of modules such as BCS T2 is still a little annoying.
Aside from those two issues I really enjoy the game.

The number one failure in my book...is lack of exploration. There's nothing to find, nothing to discover. Other than NPC mining ops, or the occasional large bounty NPC...there is nothing random and interesting.
Why can't there be rats that drop bookmarks to some thing interesting? Like a bookmark to a Dark Blood weapons cache...blow up a structure and it drops like 20 tach's or something...wouldn't have to be "uber" just...interesting.
Or random things. Anyone remember the space dragon from Moo2? Everyone would love to see spacemonkeys!
Or spacial phenomenons that can hurl you far far away, or that hide something good inside.
Space should have at least a LITTLE mystery.... ____________________________________________________________

Alts, Alts and Alts. And Alts.
They remove accountability, and destroy many professions in the game, such as scouts and researchers. Who needs to specialise in scouting or researching when any munchkin can make an alt to do it?

Missiles both before and after the nerf.
This nerf solved the wrong problem. Missiles should always hit for full damage, but they shouldnt always hit. A torpedo for example should not be able to hit a moving frigate. A stationary frigate however should be hit, and for full damage. Read the descriptions for each missile as well as using your intuition. Big missiles should have a hard time hitting small targets.
Drones. Get them working properly before nerfing the thorax please. Make training scout drones skill a good thing, rather than a penalty.
Oh, and if the missile system gets fixed, then the path is clear for an equivalent EW device to the tracking disruptor, only for missiles.

I think the arguments against alts are invalid, even though i see the reasoning. Removing alts would just mean that the same trade/specialization avoidance and the abuse, would be done with 2nd accounts instead. Removing alts would just constrain alt-abuse to those who can afford more than one account. It's unavoidable, so no real use listing it as a failure. I would suggest limiting 'eve failures' to those things that can be fixed by programming.

My wording was carefully chosen.
I agree that Eve is the best game I have ever played but I think the Tech II lottery was a failure, a failure I benefited from but a failure none-the-less. It cannot be improved because the event has happened, in my case anyway.
These are good comments though, might even be helpful for the devs perhaps! |

Yes, but at least then you limit alt abuse. If someone has to pay (insert amount of account payment here, cause I'm too lazy check) to go suicide-alt-kessie-gank, you'll have far few people doing it.
Frankly, the whole not-fair-cause-he-can-pay-and-I-can't argument is a bit selfish. You want to keep gameplay mechanics broken because you couldn't exploit them as well as someone with lots of cash could if they were changed.
The only real problems would be trial/buddy accounts. To make it work, they'd have to be removed/limited, which would hurt the poor noobs. ___________ Nero Scuro's alt, until thursday when I can pay my damn credit card bill. |

The map showing everything at once.
All the 0.0 systems should have been hidden from the start allowing for exploration and discovery of resources. Then you would only see the systems that you have been to and where the gates in that system lead to.
I know this would have been hard to implement, escpecially when someone says "Come meet me in XYZ-12" and you've never been there before, but it would have added a sense of the unknown to 0.0. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." 1. Alts [dont get me wrong i can see why people use them empire alts for pirates for example. But it just seems s lazy to me]
2. tech 2 lottery [ should be abolished and be based on some other more intereting and more fare system perhaps one that gives bpc's and the occasional bpo ]

it would be fun to explore the map, but this is the future not medieval times, and we in the future have computer and comm channels to share the information, the people that built the gates put everything in a database that everyone with the internet in their ship could view the map.

Oh damn, I was going to nominate M3G4, but this is a game balance thing.
Hmm.
1. Instajumps - have been in the game for over two years, they have no drawbacks whatsoever, and they circumvent the 15km warpin range on all gates, and they make it impossible to control space. Need to be removed very badly.
2. PVP Duration - too short, damage is not balanced with amount of HP, leaves only ganking in fleet fights. Leaves little room for support tactics in smaller fights.
3. Environment - simply irrelevant for pvp.
If those three things were changed, EVE would be an entirely new game :/
Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning.

1. Insta's - I love using them but the game would be sooooo better without them. It's like the highway changes - deep down we knew the highways were wrong but we loved them too. However, better for the game without them.
2. Flavour of the Month (certain modules/ships being an almost must-have for success) - this was a huge problem in the early days and seemed to disappear. However, it appears it is back in force.
3. ECM - it's still not right.
4. Ship balance - too much messing about with ships is making a huge PITA out of specialization.
5. R&D/Tech 2 - nothing needs to be said, imo.
6. Alts
