It just occured that something that could be a LOT of fun in eve would be mini-games.
What better way to kill the boredom of a 30 jump haul, or jetcan mining in highsec space than to challenge someone in local or corp-chat to a game of tri-dimenensional chess, or galactic-tetris!
It would be pretty easy to code this sorta stuff in and the devs and players could have a lot of fun with it IMO
Me and my buddies from the first time i played EVE years ago (pre-castor) used to play nintendogames over TCP links while mining in high-sec space
mini-games are something you see in a LOT of offline RPG's, and even some other MMO's..
just a suggestion! ;)

I dunno, I don't think that mini-games would really fit EVE's atmosphere or it's UI very well. Besides which, whenever I'm travelling many jumps, or there's nothing going on fighting-wise, there's always lots to do - for me it's the business of the corp to run, talking to clients/targets, negotiating, keeping the hangars topped up, managing its finances. EVE is a fantastic game for social interactions - when you're not doing someting else, you can always be talking, by both the chat client and TS/Vent to your corpmates.
Failing all else, EVE runs windowed (thank CCP!), so there's lots of internet to browse. Starting of course, with these forums. ---:::---

I think turning mining into a mini-game would have two major benefits:
- It would stop macromining. - It would make the long hours of stripping pyro out of a belt a lot more interesting.

Now what if mining was like playing Arkanoid!
The asteroid you are mining will be represented with a bunch of little bricks, each time you "kill" a little brick you get more ore in the cargo
Rare roids would need more "hits" to kill a little brick. The more "mining lasers" you use, the faster the ball moves.
Then being an uber miner would have new meaning, not everyone could do it.

Yes, as the story goes, this would be good in the Caldari Regions.

I think CCP wanted to implemented casinos in game but they got shut down by real casinos, who probably lobbied local government against CCP use of such features.

'
AS long as you play and pay with ISK, there is no law against it.
Heck, CCP is based in Island, their servers are in London, if that was a problem, they could easily find a server park in some very casino friendly part of the world.
I dont think anyone have lobbied against it, i think the icelandic goverment would pull up a heafty laugh, if some casino came whining at their doorstepp , but then again its a crazy world and i could be wrong So Say I. Einheriar Ulrich of the Bloodline of Einheriar.

i would be nice to see some mini games for when you have a corp mine going or or when on a long journey. Though i tihnk it would be better to see some eve specific type games instead of games we all already know.
Think along the lines of Pazaak from the Knights of the old republic series or the card game that was so successful in Final Fantasy something or other. Even Blitzball in FFX was a game that could only really exist in that world.
Eve deserves its own such games.

Well said that man, Casinos would be really cool, playing for isk on minigames or against other players. It would be great to see weekly organised races we could all bet on.
Too much isk in this game....lets distribute it among the masses........viva EVE VEGAS
Back on topic...yeah minigames would work well in EVE

As long as it's an option not a requirement. Hard core miners don't need a diversion as they are quite happy either to enter a trans-like state for the duration or find something else to do like chatting or surfing. I know this is something that a lot of players don't understand but mining as we currently know it is liked.
Speaking as a miner I'd be happy for CCP to drop the default yields by 25% and introduce a mini-game to give us +25%. I don't mind working a bit hard for better yield or getting less money for being lazy. -- (Battle hardened miner)

OMG, stop mining and doing the same mission again and again.
Get into 0.0 and forget about stupid mini-games.

For more than 2 years have I been wanting to give a Casino to the EVE populace.
- The games are "fairly easy" to make - The tracking of *everything* (to catch people trying to cheat, or to reimburse if the software barfs and general admin stuff is a lot of tideous work) - The *security* of it all (again to prevent cheats etc) is a pain to get right (the IGB quirks aint helping - Well, that goes for everything really ). One little hole and *booom*, youre out 10B or more (well sorta)
But overarching it all is : Wallet tracking!
People paying deposits, and having to pay out winnings.
In just a modestly successfull Casino, it would be a full time job (manually) administrating this today - Given the (non-existent) tools to do so (like something as simple as a wallet export feature...)
This - Is the only thing that is, and have, been stopping a full blown BIG Casino. A concept test on the possibility of multi-player games, say like Texas-Holdem, or BackGammon or whatever has even been done. And while not entirely 'pretty' (No chance of "real-time" (DHTML/JavaScript) updates of the IGB - Gotta refresh it) its doable.
Lack of tools to at least help with the admin is holding it back sadly...
