The load generated by the character manager service was causing extreme amounts of load for the MyEVE server, so much that it was assisting in other MyEVE pages automatically disabling, such as the forums. The character manager service has been temporarily disabled until better load balancing and a hardware upgrade have been made.

The person responsible knows what is causing the load, which doesn't mean there is an easy fix for it.

Originally by: Natiri There are at least 3 threads for Character Manager, and each one has a link asking to post in a different one. Also had a hard time finding it cause there is no search function for this forum (which would be nice). Since a lot of people actually use the Character Manager as they have a real life and real job, and more than one account, can we at least get one of these threads stickied so we can check on the status of making the Character Manager available again please?
It wont be available in a long time. Search function is being worked on as well.

Originally by: Ticondrius Just give us the ability to change skills from the character sheet and we'll stop spamming the page with EVE Character Manager update requests.
I believe devs in the past have said they will never allow people to change skills without logging into the game itself

Read the thread and the stickies? I know it's farfetched, but you never know it might actually answer your question. No really, I'm serious this thread contains information ( even at the first few pages) and the stickies too!

Seen there is lot of confusion about and a LOT of speculation on how the charactersheet works, let me clarify it once and for all so we can stop the second guessing.
There are two database queries on opening the charactersheet that get every piece of data needed for your character(s). The main query is executed once a day and cached, the secondary query is executed every 2 hours (note that if you're not using the charactermanager or the charactersheet on the myeve website, we don't query the data, saving memory and db resources).
Instead of Output caching I'm using Data caching so we can re-use this info all over the website if we need to. A couple of months ago when we were faced with quite a few performance issues, I rewrote the whole application to be more smooth, resulting in a nice perfomance increase and everyone was happy. Opting for memory caching was an obvious choice as it's more flexible.
Myeve was running on two machines but is running on ONE machine as we speak due to loadbalancer issues (that are beeing looked into). The loss of myeve02 (this loss occured somewhere early last week) resulted in myeve01 getting quite a lot more load on the MEMORY (CPU, I/O, ... are all quasi-idle).
Hope this clears it up once and for all.
