Why are somme of my skills rank 2? what are these ranks and how do you raise rank? Also this forum needs a search tool

Rank is the skill training multiplier. A Rank 2 skill takes twice as long as a Rank 1 skill to train, assuming the same Primary and Secondary Attributes.

I dunno, some skills at rank 1 have X2 multiplyers, is there some way to increase rank?

There are two things to keep seperate, rank and level.
Here is a table of how many skillpoint it takes to train a skill of a certain rank to a certain level (more sp = more time to train )

You can not increase rank and even if you could you would not want to as i would only make it take longer to train with no benefit.

ok i gtta say it tho... the higher ranks r more efficient
like 2% bounus is to rank 1 as 5% is to...

Not always, the large tech 2 gun specialization skills are rank 8 and give 2% per level, to be compared with with the normal large gun skill that is rank 5 and give 5% per level and surgical strike that is rank 4 and give 3%.
I just depends on what skill it is and what it effects.

Rank has nothing to do with how effecient a skill is.
Rank is a direct multiplier to how long it takes a skill to train. This is the ONLY effect of rank. This is meant to reflect that some skills take more to learn then others. It does not in any way imply the skill is better or more usefull.
Rank never changes, and is a fixed value.
