Picture that used be used for vilifying Jewish merchants a long time ago used in economics lecture.
It's used in modern political science lectures a lot as well for various reasons. Mostly to laugh at guys who think it's something more than a propaganda gone silly.

47 million?
Four times the total armed forces of the commonwealth in WW2? Almost the entire population of the UK in 1939?

So what? the Russians lost 168,524,000 ******* people and they don't complain when you make jokes of them? in fact Russians are all a joke on the internet nowdays and you don't see them complaining about it, be it for their excesive love of vodka, DIY fixes or extremely large military things they don't get all butt hurt about a joke.
this is just someone being extremely sensitive.
Wow did someone tell the Russians that they lost their ENTIRE pre-war population in WW2?
Are you guys actually checking what that first column on the Wikipedia page is listing? |

You're quoting the first column....
"Total Population 1/1/1939"
That's how many lived in the UK, not how many died....correct answer to how many died would be 450,900 souls... |

Republic of Ireland was a non-belligerent and lost only 200 people, Northern Ireland is included in the UK figure. |
