If you went overboard back when you said you had the high res textures, just say so. I think you can admit you don't have them instead of beating around the bush all the time.
Don't get me wrong, all those shader- and effects-updates are nice and all, but the textures do still look bad - especially the normal maps. If you have them, please put them in the client, if you don't have them, just say so. |

From what I have seen so far, the client downloads the lower quality textures first (unless you tell it to download everything), so you can start playing, and then downloads the high(er) res stuff later. It took me a while to figure out why I couldn't get half-way decent textures with triexporter after they did that cache patch thingamajig. I had textures for most subcaps, but all supers and titans were missing, so I assume they get downloaded as you encounter the ships that use them. |

The one thing that does seem plausible to me is that it wouldn't make all that big a difference, and they could improve the visuals much more by doing other things. No amount of shader magic and fancy compression will be able to hide the fact that you are stretching a small texture too far. |

Everything with CCP is a multi year project for some reason, and those "projects" get forgotten more often than not. Let's make sure they don't forget. |
