I've been playing for about two months. Great game! I was just ending up a 20 jump trade run, which would have finished my goal of reaching 600 mill. (I've been trading in tech II goods.)
I reached the gate in Oursulaert, and my Indy V was taken out by 3 suicide Kestrels. 80K in Megacyte gone, and now I'm frozen in my pod by lag. There were over 370 in system, and concord's response froze everything for about ten.
Kinda have mixed feelings about this. After playing UO for 5 years, I kinda like the way things are set up here. But losing a quarter of a bill sucks. So now I'm whining to make myself feeeel better.
I've moved into 0.0, and will set up shop there. Watch out here I come.

.... thats a lot of mega... if i were transporting it it would be in a Transport at minimum, or more likely in small ships and several runs.

Yeah, live and learn. I ran to the first store I could find, and bought a transport ship.
Killed by Fear Enterprises. But I have a very long memory.

That an expensive lesson to learn.
80k megacyte would have fitted in a decently tanked cruiser with expanders. Kessies wouldnt have killed it.

Bought an occator. Gosh they are expensive! I put the offending members of Fear Enterprises on my buddy list. I'm gonna study their habits, while I start another venture in 0.0.
I thought it would be fun to try and bust into the middle of claimed space, and set a roadside stand.

Sorry to hear that. Oursulaert is becoming a major pain in the ass for traders and all players nowadays with the lag and terrorists are attempting to take advantage of this.
Always happy to help a fellow Gallente out - send me a mail in game and I might consider giving you a trade route that will make you that amount back quite quick, but having said that, if you are trading in 0.0 - empire products you will make a fortune anyway.

Edited by: Captain Stern on 28/09/2005 07:41:14 Think about it, he's been playing for 2 months... first of all, it takes longer than that to get the skill training for indy 5 no matter how much you play. And I ask the same thing about that much money. You have to have capital to begin trading and I mean a LOT of capital to gross a high profit. I know, I trade NPC commodities regularly. A typical run costs 12 mil. to buy up front, and profits after selling 600k to 1 mil. (2-3 short-jump runs). To get 600 mil. in 2 months... That much money and Indy 5 in 2 months... sounds like a story to me...
Edit: And yes, maybe you could get Indy 5 if that's all you trained, and nothing else (though I still doubt it).

Congratulations. You don't suck.
I've lost *everything* at least three or four times in EVE. It always stings, but you soon learn to just suck it up and move on. Good to see that you learned that lesson straight away. Alot of people don't. ---

Just keep a note of the alt kestrel suiciders character names and see if they get trashed soon.
If they suddenly become "Doomheim", petition.

I've got 1.4 million SP and I've not even hit the 2 month mark yet. Indy 5 is EASILY doable in 2 months. Maybe even in less than a month.

Getting hit by suicide kestrels/caracals is NOT an isk sink.

Lost 300mil myself a week orso ago, so I know how it feels.
Only thing to say is: isk and items aren't that important, as long as you have your character, patience, endurance and stamina, you'll be fine .

Edited by: Snake Jankins on 28/09/2005 11:54:53 Sorry for your loss, but that seems to be typical for EVE: Learning by loosing expensive stuff.
I'd also not have expected something like that in a high sec system. I think they have a nice income with that at least until people are more cautious.
/edit: At the moment I'm wondering about if that tactics is not just plain lame. I don't like it, if you can't fight back. You can't declare war on kestrel suicide nubs. I think piracy is fine, but you should be able to fight back, declare war or whatever.
