Originally by: Zster I played Guild Wars when it was in the Beta stage. The graphics were in inspiring, until the Char came and made my world burnt and red lol. Guild Wars has a great idea for $0 a month, collect items in missions while trying to attain lvl 20 and get all the skills you can to advance to GvG. I agree though that Guild Wars is a short term game for the reasons listed above. Lack of teamwork with people you really don't know and competing in a huge ladder all the time really sounds boring after maybe 3 months. I got bored after Beta ended, that's my attention span for Guild Wars.
I have been playing Eve for 1 year and 3 months. I have searched for other games in the $14.95 range per month to end my obsession with Eve, but none have come close enough to the graphics; the people you meet in Eve; the wealth of info in the forums and help channels ingame; the huge skill structure; the open possiblility of Industry, PvP, mission running; searching for hidden complexes; hauling stuff; mining roids for isk; researching to maybe get a tech 2 BPo; traveling hundreds of jumps for that rare item or PvP fight; the great variety of ships and tactics; Player owner stations and bases; being in an alliance; gate camping; declaring wars on those you hate; omg I can't stop listing things. There are even more things to do than I listed and the main point that hits home- Eve keeps getting BETTER! You have one tactic down and Eve all of a sudden changes with a patch. Pure brilliance.
No I can't justify playing Guild Wars again after playing Eve, even if Guild Wars is free and I was a homeless poor bum. I would recycle cans and travel with my laptop to pay for dial up and Eve. Someone please save me.
Zster,
You are clearly in need of help, and thus a perfect candidate for our corporation.
We've found our best members are those who have an addiction problem, but don't really care to do anything about it.
As for the author of this thread:
Make sure you join a good corp. Joining a corp that doesn't do stuff together and has no goals or strong leadership will ruin the game for you, at least for that month till you get your next dose.
Enjoy and have fun in EVE.
Apostles of Insanity is growing again.
