Well since I only speak English, chances are high that you do. I am working as part of Team Stonehenge, and one of our tasks is to transition TQ to the new localization system.
As part of this we are making it so that the chat channel names can be translated. But we have come up against a small problem, there is a lot of languages out there. And while CCP is a multinational company we don't have native speakers for every language.
So here is what we are doing, we are making certain chat channels have both text of the language you have the client in and the language of the channel. In the format of XXXX (YYYY) where the XXXX is the language of the client and YYYY is in the language of the channel. The YYYY part will not change language as you change the language your client is in.
For example: Help Chinese Help (pâÿpâ½pâù) English Help (Help) German Help (Hilfe) Russian Help (-ƒ-+-+-+-ë-î )
So we would like to ask you multilingual pod pilots to help us translate these few lines. The translations fall into three chat groups. The corporate are recruitment and help channels are in English, German, Russian, Japanese and should . The language channels are in MANY!
Please post your translations into this thread, I will be cross checking with Google and other resources for obvious mistakes. So please post the original line with your translation on the next line.
Thanks - Team Stonehenge.

Ok i guess i missed one bit, we are translating the bit that is in the () not all the messages.
Ie: XXXX (YYYY)
I need the translations for the YYYY part, the XXXX part will be take care of the by the German, Russian, and Japanese translation teams. It is the YYYY part that we don't have translations for.
Sorry for the confusion, and thanks to those that translated everything.

Hate to have to point this out... but in Fact Recruitment in English still has a 'U' after the second r, and hence is still spelled "Recruitment" in English, as it was written in English the first time you wrote it. (Just saying). <- worst speeler on the planet is working on localization, i know ironic.... :)

Cool, thanks, not that i only need the part in the () translated. Our goal is that someone that sits down at EVE that doesn't speak/ read good XXXX can spot the YYYY part of the channel name and find people they can communicate with easly.
Do to players request we are adding the Brazilan language channel :)

Just curious, any reason there is no Arabic speaking channel?
You may not necessarily support the Arabic type font (not sure on this) but most Arabs are accustomed to using romanticized typing anyways using the roman letters and arabic numerals.
You may not find a lot of subscribers from Arabic speaking countries in specific, however there is a pretty large Arabic speaking Diaspora out there all over the world.
Noted: i will pass the suggestion on. Programmer on Team Stonehenge Stuffer of brains into NPC ships. |

Just pointing it's not Chinese, that's specifically Japanese transliteration of Help in katakana. "Herupu"
Thanks Fixed.

Good job all!
Below is the ones I do not have validation of the translations on.
Note: I don't need all lines translated, just the one that are specific for your language. For instance I don't need Aribic for every line, just the "Languages - Aribic (+º+ä+¦+¦+¿+è+¬)" and then only the part in ().
Google has problems with distinguishing between the name of the country and the name of the language. So some translations could be the name of the country and not the name of the language. I am learning a ton about the difference between languages :) For instance Japanese done's have capitals letters, other languages have them but they are not used the same as in English.

Eleanore en Marland wrote:Languages - French (Fran+ºais) Explanation: -> "French tongue" would translate as "langue Fran+ºaise" -> but putting it the way you did, "Language - French" then translates to "Langage - Fran+ºais" . All this because nouns have a gender in french.....
The 'language -' portion is the group that is chat group is listed in. It is not actually part of the line if that makes a difference.
Language * English (English) * French (Fran+ºais)
Is the translation still correct in that case?

Anyway, in reply to above post: Multiple language names are legal in portuguse, especifically regarding "afric+óner"/"africano", "polon+¬s"/"polaco", "tcheco"/"checo". Im not saying it isnt :) im just saying everyone portuguese will feel more confortable with the ones I posted cause everyone use the ones I posted instead of those of the wikipedia, is more practical to use those I posted as they are the most popular ...just saying
Interesting
The only Portuguese translation I need is the following, we are looking for the name of the language the channel is in, in that language.
Languages - Portuguese (Portugu+¬s)
A German client would see: (from google) Sprachen - Portugiesisch (Portugu+¬s) Programmer on Team Stonehenge Stuffer of brains into NPC ships. |
