I am pissed. This watering down of the rules should not be allowed. It is a dark stain on the reputation of the urine alliance. We beat the odds and are clearly number one. This results which drips with favouritism will leave a mark upon the rest of ccp's competitions. It is a splash in the face for everyone involved. Without a doubt this corruption soaks the reputation of CCP. This stinks.

CCP seems really good about laying down rules and then "clarifying" them after the fact. It should come as no surprise that there's a bit of controversy surrounding CCP's King of Lowsec contest.

Snuff Box, of Urine Alliance, were quite sure they had won. I'd gather they were tracking killboards, and did not see anybody come close to their total ISK value of kills. Not even their closest rival Pandemic Legion.

Yet, when all was said and done, CCP announced Pandemic Legion as the winners. Maybe Snuff Box miscalculated their kills. It's hard to say what kills were calculated as part of the contest, because CCP has not released the killmails used. A comparison between the two alliances would be worth seeing.

What we do know is that Snuff Box killed a lot of CCP employees during the contest. And we know that CCP decided not to include CCP kills as part of their calculation. The problem is that the rules did mot exclude CCP employee kills.

Specifically, the rules state:

• Whoever receives the final blow will be credited with the value of kill.
• The ISK value will be equivalent to that on the kill report.
• Only kills made in low security space (0.1 to 0.4 systems) will count.
• Only kills made after the server comes up on May 5th and before it goes down on May 6th will count.
• All kills which adhere to these guidelines will count, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them.

I've bolded the all-important rule. All kills that adhere to the guidelines. And the guidelines don't discount any particular type of kill, including kills of CCP employees of celebratory roams.

Maybe Urine Alliance did win. Maybe CCP didn't want the hassle of dealing with an alliance without a logo, even though the rules state: "In the event the winning alliance does NOT have an in-game logo, we will figure something out." Maybe CCP didn't want to figure something out. Maybe CCP didn't want Urine Alliance flying high and proud over CCP headquarters.

We'll never really know. But, it would be damned nice if CCP could create a set of rules and adhere to them, not changing and adding rules after the fact. It would be fantastic if players knew what was legal and not-legal before a contest began, and not given that information afterwards.

Also we get a lot of kills that don't appear on eve-kill or other sites so your method of "collecting data" is incomplete and CCP owning the servers has all the information they need.

No there's no rivalry. Most PL never heard of Snuff Box until today when Grarr Dex started bawwing and links to this thread made its way around our IRC and forums.

I think CCP should change the competition to 'most autistic forum warriors'

that way it cant be open to interpretation (e.g. deciding after the event that actually some stuff doesn't count, unlike the rules of the competition of the OP)
