Hello
Star Citizen. okay I just started looking in to this game and so far I like it from what I saw on Video it has a nice Video also when I first started playing eve way back then I got in to it because I liked the videos they made and when I played the game it was good.
BUT
Now what do you think of Star Citizen Compared to Eve online think it be Good ? just something that will die out fast like other games in the past ?
Don't get me wrong I love my Eve. but I also been looking for a better game that has what I want in it. Eve has served me well over there years. but like an old toy you have to put it away some times and try something fresh to keep wanting to play with it.
So again what do think of the 2 games ? I Really Love LIKES.. -á PLEASE Sir / Miss Can I get a Like :)-á Thank you |

Star Citizen isn't even a mmo but some semi-persistent on-thy-fly instanced something, it's like comparing apples to onions.
Will it have interesting combat gameplay? Possibly.
Will it have a persistent 300k character universe? No.
This is the spaceship counterpart to comparing Wow and Skyrim and is mostly irrelevant. |

Star Citizen will be behave like Guild Wars 1, it will be heavy instanced but mainly will be playable in a single shard (probably be divided per continents since the games looks like it will be sensitive to high pings).

I'll just treat it like all the games I've played since Eve came about. It it's good you can always keep the skill training going. If it's not you can always keep the skill training going. It's healthy that Eve has competition, sadly there isn't one that can fully threaten her in depth so far that I seen. |

Nope. The game hasn't come out yet, it sounds promising but the scale and scope of eve is far too vast, I think what your looking for is elite. Not star citizen, star citizen can offer something like a battlestar ish adventure type, but EVE is about politics, wars, thousands of players fighting over control, stories being told from many different corners of the universe. There is much more going in EVE to even try to compare these games.
Elite is going to have something like this though, the new game that is, If CCP really wants to take a look at what their competition could be, it would be Elite:dangerous. Chris Roberts had already stated that the most you'll see is a handful of players at any given time, due to the insane emphasis on graphical features and content. However in the future like 5 years down the road, the number may increase. |

Star Citizen is limited to 128 players per server. Star Citizen allows custom servers, basically making sure the community is as fractured as possible. Star Citizen is a twitch game focusing on smaller ships.
You'd be better off trying to compare Tekken and Minecraft.... Literally the only similarity Star Citizen and EVE have is that they're in space.

Ill check it out for sure. However it won't replace eve. There isn't a game coming out anywhere in the near future either that would threaten eve. This game we play is kinda a slow grower. A sleeper if you will. It's gaining customers everyday. A steady increase. All good signs for ccp. With the branch out into dust and other ventures we will see eve forever I'm sure of it. It will be the longest played and maintained game ever, at least in our life time. I plan to play it even when I'm 90 years old. |

I think Star Citizens will be a a cracking game, but as many people have said it is not a competitor for Eve, there are 2 different types of games, Star Citizens is more freelancer.
However, the one area where it might effect Eve are those players who love the Industrial side of Eve and hate any type of PvP, those types of players who are more then happy to do nothing but mine and build and get very angry and shouty if they lose a ship. |

If Star Citizen can pull off all the things they are saying they will achieve then I am afraid it will probably be better than Eve in most aspects. However, what they're saying they are going to do just sounds like boasting to me. They have one game play demo they have been playing over and over again at every convention and it hasn't been updating since they released it almost a year ago. I think it's probably going to end up a mediocre game with many broken promises.

The only way it will be able to compete with EVE is by providing a more realistic sci-fi experience. That and the fact that it will be released with WiS will probably make it quite popular for roleplayers.
I think EVE has the upperhand when it comes to politics, strategy, size of the galaxy and the fact that it's all on one shard.
When I first started playing EVE I was looking for that "Star Wars Starfighter" experience but I grew to like EvE for what it is. EVE may lose some people who only play EVE because it gives them that sci-fi spaceship experience but that's only if Star Citizen can provide it in a more realistic and entertaining way. Both games are quite enjoyable.
One thing to note is that Star Citizen is being designed with Freelancer and Privateer in mind. This is all with "proper" physics as well. (I seriously miss good physics in space games. Anyone remember I-War?) Trade, combat, piracy, exploration are all ambitious goals that Star Citizen will attempt to offer.
With not so much as pre-alpha footage being shown, it's really difficult to say if it is "better", but it may appeal to people who find EvE's slower pace for combat (which I love) to be lacking. That's not to say that the alternative game mechanics wouldn't be appreciated by EvE players as well.
We'll see where it goes in the long run. It still has years of development behind it, and I hope it'll turn out well. While I've put up $260+ on the thing, I have been paying more for EvE during it's lifetime so far. |

I love how every other forum apart from this one actually defines General Discussion correctly. Here it seems people get upset at reality and other things not related to Eve intruding into their headspace in the general forum. Says a lot really.
And yes star citizen is going to be awesome. A lot more wild west/Firefly vibes which is a huge plus imo. Also at the same time as the truly lame/non existent eve content at fanfest I get an email describing the 10 different classes of EVA suit that are going to be in SC. Go figure. |

The main threat that SC poses to EVE, is that it is a classical game. SC is the "main thing" to many people who settle with EVE because that's what it's on the market and not because after years of space freelancing, they just dreamed of EVE.
As for SC, it is not an MMO and will lack EVE's massiveness, but if SC had existed in 2008 and worked as hinted, I would never have tried EVE and would had stickied with my joystick controlled WW2-like space dogfighting...
Seen from EVE, SC will have permadeath, avatar gameplay (ship boarding), avatar social spaces, interactable ships (up to 1.5 kilometers long and 30 million polygons), embedded live events, instanced multiplayer in a single permanent universe, private moddable servers, and so. They're not attempting to imitate EVE, but to use the market real state that EVE doesn't fills. The Greater Fool Bar-áis now open for business, 24/7. Rovinia is absolutely right. Everything looks nice on videos. The game publisher will only capture the "best of moments" for public and most of the times, the videos fall far short of all the promises made by these video game makers.
From time to time, other game developers will take us to high places where all kingdoms can be seen, and whisper us with promises of great glory.

Development wise not really. A lot of Eves coding is ancient and not really modernized. The main reason there isn't much competition is because many don't see it as a good investment. It's a very niche market with an already established filler.

From the very small details we have on the game mechanics there are already 2 huge issues
First: instances. Ok, you can't have an Asakai battle rendered in realtime with the details of a singleplayer mission but this brings to further troubles. How to organize different fleets and reinforcements if the system decides who can warp into an instance and who cannot? Try to imagine how often in EVE fights escalate. There won't be much of an escalation at all in SC. Never, ever.
Second: it won't be a sandbox. There will be mining, planetary production and manufacturing but the market fluctuations will be compensated by NPC's who will be selling the same goods as the players at a variale rate and price, in order to avoid market manipulation. Yo Jita alts, I feel your pain!
So even if I threw quite some money at Chris Roberts and I'm waiting for something to play, I really wish that we'll have some EVR environement to drool on in the near or even not-so-near future. I will happily sell my SC account and worship CCP till the times are fulfilled ______________________________ just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean they're not after you |

This was done in Eve early on as well. Most of the mineral market was seeded with buy orders. Now if SC is going to keep it later on once the market stabilizes is unknown.

Well, they'll have that and a matchmaking system. SC will be a much better game for PvP than EVE if you enjoy combat with targets that shoot back and have a reasonable chance of winning, e.g. there's real risk to the attacker as well as the attacked party. It's another area where the above comparison to GW1 is apt -- it'll be a lot easier to find/enjoy competitive PvP matches, albeit in a much more contrived way.
We're really comparing apples and oranges here...
For the record, Kerbal Space Program is better than EVE. ;) |

I have no desire to play a fighter sim game nor do I think my computer can even handle running Star Citizen at minimum specs, but....
It has gained over 9 million in crowd funding from people who are looking foward to the game and the mechanics are pretty much state of the art.
Also the start citizen devs mentioned that they thought EVE clones were too lenient as a way to avoid suffering because of death. I'm sure I can google that statement but I figure I'd let everyone else do the work for me. "Entitlement" is a euphemism for "I hate the way you play and it makes me cry like a baby". If you fantasize about being immoral it means you enjoy being immoral deep down. |

don't tell CCP I said this but I like a game that can be scaled in terms of clicks and inputs per minute depending on how bad my ADD flares up. a brilliant stroke of luck that the EVE client is so manageable with multiple instances. Second: it won't be a sandbox. There will be mining, planetary production and manufacturing but the market fluctuations will be compensated by NPC's who will be selling the same goods as the players at a variale rate and price, in order to avoid market manipulation. Yo Jita alts, I feel your pain!
This was done in Eve early on as well. Most of the mineral market was seeded with buy orders. Now if SC is going to keep it later on once the market stabilizes is unknown.
Its not a MMO so won't be anything like this. Small tiny shards, nothing of any importance.
Its just X3 with some extra people in it. |

Mhax Arthie wrote:Kids these days maybe have no clue about who Chris Roberts is, but for those who played the epic Wing Commander series and also Freelancer, Sir Roberts is a God. SC is a very ambitious project, but since Sir Chris Robert is on charge, I pledged to SC through kickstarter and now Im a proud owner of a Aurora ship that I will able to fly maybe even this summer on the alpha test servers. Just the fact that I will be able to sit, walk and sleep on my iown ship makes me count the days until the beta begins. SC will be apic, no doubt about it.
He also did the Wing Commander movie.
I wouldn't go too far with your praises.
