I skipped from page 2 onwards because TLDR.
OP, to many people in this game, myself included, kill mails are worth more than isk. Many people do not try to maximize their efficiency in activities like you do, or rationally go about their business. Some people just want to watch the world burn (I don't know who said that, but I know it's a quote). So to those that killed you, they "won" because they destroyed your ship, pod, and scooped some nice meta 4 loot. A victory in their eyes. To you, you "won" because everything you lost was easily replaceable and you had already accrued enough isk to cover any destruction of your ships.
So in your eyes, they wasted their time hunting you down and killing you, when they could have been out making ISK. To them, they accomplished their goal, kill a ship for the kill mail and lulz.
In the end, we hang out in a sandbox, so go, play in the sand however you wish, and HAVE FUN I wear my goggles at night.

Get out!!!
Seriously I'd purge you for being such a whinny twit if you were in my corp.
You live in null, you rat for isk and you takes your risks. That risk is that neutrals coming through are trying to kill you. It's ok though because we're trying to kill them too so it works out. If I were out roaming hostile space I'd be as quick to kill their ratters as they are to kill ours.
I lost two Ishtars today, one stupidly to rats by forgetting to turn on my tank before warping to an anomaly then a second while I was sorting that character out and I forgot to keep an eye on intel and missed the hostile gang that came through and got me. It happens, they're not the first ratting boats I've lost they won't be the last. As long as I can make more isk than I lose then it's just the cost of doing business, if I lose more than I can make then I change activities.
But you will not see me cry about it, hell some guys got one of my ratters a few weeks back and contracted me the corpse, I sent them an evemail congratulating them on the kill and thanking them for the laugh.
Basically lighten up, it's a game it's meant to be fun it just so happens that sometimes the other guy gets to win and that means you get to lose.
You gambled, you lost, simple as that. You should have warped out the second you noticed the hostile in local, you got greedy and stuck around to finish off that BS to make that extra mill isk and that cost you your ratting ship and clone, What should you do? You chuckle about it, send them a GF in local and try to make a better choice next time. I mean you would't accuse the other team of being psychopaths if they beat you in a basketball game would you? So why are you getting all bent out of shape because they beat you at spreadsheets in space? |

No the OP's mentality is not the standard for most "NullBears", Most "null bears" accept that a certain amount of risk is inherent in any activity and take actions to mitigate those risks as best they are able. The null bears I know get a chuckle over losing a ship, because if we couldn't shrug it off we'd have moved back to high sec already.

Sure you can, see my earlier post about the guys contracting my corpse back to me. That was a nice touch that could certainly get under the skin of people like the OP. Plus it's more killboard padding particularly now that implants are included on the mails. Hell I've lost plenty of pods worth more than the ship I was riding.
In null sec it's simple. If they aren't friends you shoot them. that's all the reason one needs. |

people do it for a number of reasons
You're not blue
exerting control over a region or system
loot (nobody knows what sort of filling you have unless they crack the egg) and no, no one is going to fit ship or cargo scanners in null, and ratters usually pack faction or implants
KMs just because ratios & bragging rights
tears
potential extortion
booting trespassers out of the anoms and sigs
NBSI (not blue shoot it)
quite honestly heres how it appears from various points of view:
what you saw: you think they went out of their way to take personal action against you for whatever reason and deprive you of your ship and pod
what they saw: they were roaming around, saw you in local, saw wrecks on dscan and said oh hey a ratter, lets get him they got you with the long point, killed you and your pod (without a bubble, so shame on you) looked at the KM and then said "meh.. ok lets do a few more systems then I gotta go eat"
killing you is not a thought out process, its an automatic reaction, its what you do in null nobody is going to pop into your anom and offer to help for a cut of the loot, they are all there to kill you, because you are not blue to them

I'll say it again - I'm not sure who's posts you read, but it certainly wasn't mine. If you want to respond to anything I've written, by all means go ahead, but it would be nice if you ACTUALLY RESPONDED TO SOMETHING I'D WRITTEN, not something you imagined I wrote, or something else someone wrote on another thread.

You don't need to hunt anything, as I already posted the information on where I will be ratting so another guy could have a go. You are more than welcome to come have a go yourself, if that's what floats your boat. I would recommend using a non-blue alt, however, as I will report blues who do this up the chain of command (assuming your corp or alliance cares about such things - they may not). If you don't have a non-blue alt, I'm sure someone you know might be willing to lend you one. |

THIS! THIS IS WHY I LOVE YOU GOONS!
@OP: Let me make it even harder to understand. Or maybe easier, depending on how you read this.
In my ~6 years of playing i never once posted a killmail. I've never dishonored a ransom. I never tricked anybody to fight me on unfair grounds. I did however, repeatedly, blow random people out of the sky, even in highsec. I've camped the same system in Nullsec for more than a month in a stealthbomber, never docking for anything than new ships or ammo. I've spent weeks upon weeks in my onyx on nullsec warproutes. I've spent a couple of months with RvB. I've done hauling and big buisness. I've done missions for a while. I've done a ton of things. One thing I always return to though, is blowing **** up. Cuz, you know. Asplosions are perty.
Did all this time fighting or looking for fights cost me ISK? Very probably. Does that constitute a loss for me? Not at all. ISK is not the goal for me, it's a tool to do whatever I want whenever I want in eve. The fact that what I wanted to do for a long time after I first started made me a crapton of ISK is just icing on the cake. This is a game about percentages and spreadsheets for some. It's a game of "castlebuilding" and "goldhoarding" for others. To yet others it's a game of thrill and adventure. Where there are people who build sand castles there will be people to kick them down.
For me personally. It's a couple of things.
It's about finding that one perfect fight. It's about getting than one crown jewel in your collection. (I'm looking at you State Raven) (Also looking with wild envy at entity, but that seems unrelated) It's about making that perfect call on a business opportunity. But mostly. It's about having fun. If what I'm doing isn't enjoyable, I find something else to do. |

I don't get it. Are you saying that ratting an anomaly is 'carebear' activity? Every single high-end PvP'er I know does it.
Or is the term 'carebear' just a generic pejorative thrown around whenever you read a post you don't happen to like for whatever reason?
Quote:what you saw: you think they went out of their way to take personal action against you for whatever reason and deprive you of your ship and pod
I keep reading this sort of thing in people's responses. I never once said, or implied, that it was personal. In fact, I don't think it was personal at all. They didn't even know me.
I just figured it was a couple of guys who do this as a routine, cruising around on non-allied turf searching for ratters to blow up. My question was simply why bother? Are they getting bounty ISK? Are they making more ISK looting the wrecks than they would be doing something else? They answers seem to be 'no' and 'no.' But my point to you is simply that people keep reading stuff into what I wrote that I never in fact wrote. I don't understand that. For me it is a relatively easy task to read what someone wrote, and understand it exactly as written. It seems most people here can't do that, or this place is infested with pretty bad trolls.

They were trying to be helpful. They were sending him back to his clone where he could refit and get out there and start out immediately again rather than making jump after jump.
Asmodai, what you are doing now is the icing on the cake. They found you, destroyed your ship, made you ride the pod express and you posted about it in a rant on the forums. The only way this could be any more perfect is if you mailed them as well.
As to why? In this game you only need to make enough isk to do the things you enjoy. Anything after that isn't efficient. These people were on a roam, they saw a ratting drake and took a gamble on whether it would have friends or expensive mods. There is no inspect in this game (unless you can get scanners on them but that requires them to sit still rather than run), so everything is as is, all guess work. This time they would of lucked out. By your own admission you had no expensive mods or augments. Then instead of keeping it quiet and moving on, you came on the forums and made a long winded I didn't want/need that ship anyway thread. Then you started answering the thread, making the same incorrect assumptions again and again.
I skipped breakfast for this. You would probably think this is :inefficient:, I think it was well worth the cost. |

you should have been able to welp at least one of those guys in a drake, that is if you fired on them instead of shaking you fist at the heavens while shrieking "WHY????"
but even if you didn't shoot, you had no chance, you were dead the moment they landed and you were still on grid. this means you had tons of time to pick a celestial and get ready to get your pod out. but you were busy doing what????
