For a long time I have been a Real Time Strategy fan and a EVE based RTS game would be amazing but before you dismiss the idea at least hear me out and I apologize for any spelling or grammar mistakes.
So space RTS games are pretty cool for example 'Sins of a solar empire' and 'Endless space' just to name a couple. The idea of making a RTS game of EVE may seem bad as it would encourage people to not play on EVE but like any other game you get bored after a while and that EVE urge always comes back so in my eyes I dont see a huge problem especially for the benefits it brings...
An EVE based RTS game could tell the story of the 4 empires in a fictional based campaign mode detailing the history of EVE and the uprising of the 4 empires, Skirmishes could include The faction empires as well as the possibility to create new Factions/Alliances with different attributes to dominate nullsec against other AI Factions/Alliances. Challenge modes could include some of the game events and expansion storys a couple of examples could be fighting off the invading sansha incursions or battle for caldari prime. All of the game play gives a small view on what it takes to run these huge empires and allainces that only a handful of people truly experience in EVE with online game play it can improve that experience by giving a more challenged approach by other players.
EVE allows its players to feel like individuals with the ability to fit there ships however they want so the RTS version needs this 'endless space' is a perfect example of how to do this. With DUST514 on the horizon it could be implemented into the game for land RTS battles to help improve industrial benefits and with the POS's/IHUBS/Stations reinforce timers could be 2-3mins giving time to react or even remove the timer.
My point being an RTS EVE based game detailing its back story and game play from a leadership point of view could seriously interest alot of RTS fans and possibly attract more people to try EVE and look further into its endless supply of fictional storys, Lets be honest everyone gets EVE burnout and have time to play other games so I ask what harm can it do?
( Yes there are EVE 'mods' out there but They do not show what EVE is about at all )
I hope some of you like this idea, I just hope one day it will be considered by CCP

actually I've been learning how to mod civ 5 cause I've been plotting ot make a full conversion mod for that. You're leaders are each of the empire navies and pirate factions (you're custom units are the navy or pirate faction ships), city states would be the different companies that produce T2 ships (and thus begin friends with them would occasionally gift you T2 units). All land would be textureswapped to be space, and water would be planet surface (with primaes as the fishing boats for planetary goods)
Cities would be POSes, workers would be mining ships. and stuff liek that
Its a work in progress though cause I'm still learning to code stuff for civ. Would be real nice if i could get my hands on the models for eveships somehow though because then I wouldn't have to model them all myself. Also theres the fun of figuring out how to implement webbers, scrams, and logistics and such. But I'll figure it out
But sadly civ5 isn't an RTS like you want. I know there was a mod workign for Sword of the Stars that added in the Ammar as a faction, but it think that group split up after making 1 working beta |

I think there are Homeworld and SOASE mods that use EVE ships.
Also, I once actually wrote a set of rules for a tabletop EVE strategy game. Wonder if I still have them. - Mission Overhaul - Bridging the PVP / PVE Gap - -áIf the game stops teaching people to fear lowsec, maybe people will start going there? |

Yeah its not havn't played swords of the stars yet, sins and endless space seem to be the best example of what im hoping for. Any eve mod is always welcomed and a applaud anybody that does them Im just wanting an actual game not a mod hoping others would agree on this idea and hopefully get CCP interested =D |

It's actually a pretty popular idea. That being said, I support. It would give us a chance to explore the lore of New Eden in greater depth, as well as get strategically thinking minds interested in New Eden. Said minds would enter into New Eden with a good understanding of what ships are intended to do what, why starbases are important, what fleet operations are about, etc. I think such a person would be far more likely to understand EVE Online if they played an RTS set in New Eden first. How droll. |

This would make way too much sense. CCP would rather spend your sub money on FPS for PS3 and vampire mmo. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

I'd just want to get rid of the rock/paper/scissors card draw or perhaps alter the system slightly.
A little bit of accuracy adjustment and some balancing fixes (last I checked projectile weapons were useless in the game) and it'd be on my "to play a lot" list. Save the drones! |

All land would be textureswapped to be space, and water would be planet surface (with primaes as the fishing boats for planetary goods) A Galactic Civilizations 2 mod should make for an obvious choice for a turn-based strategy game, instead of Civ5. The game incorporates a lot of the mechanics I would expect from an eve-based strategy game already, such as equipping different modules on each ship, research, and so on. With that said, I never really got into Civ5, so I don't know if the same features are included there.
The main downsides to using GalCiv are that there are less players on GalCiv, and that it is a rather old game by now. If you are a fan of turn-based strategy and space games I'd still recommend checking it out though. And I wish you good luck on the modding. |
