In a couple of days I am going to run out of the clone limit. I have petitioned this over a month ago but nothing has happened. All I do with this character is pvp so I am wondering if I have to sit in a station now until they have tested???? new clone types and implement them. I would say this is a game flaw basicly as I canŠt play my main character anymore and I cant do anything about it. Please CCP, act hastily this time and try not to give a "soon" answer because that makes me feel bad.

This might be deliberate by CCP.
I'm not sure if I approve or disapprove.
Its been speculated that CCP might make a "last" clone. But if they did I'd certainly expect them to announce it "before" anyone got within 10mil SPs of its limit, and to also give us the ability to unlearn skills.

I can't believe CCP would do this deliberately. I just think they never expected so many players to hit the 40mil SP so fast and just did not plan ahead. Don't worry Kali will be here in about 6 months and you can have your new clone then . Just kidding, I really do hope CCP get this fixed, I expect to hit that 40mil SP mark within a few months and it would be a shame if they do not have a clone by that time. ______________________

it could be done VERY quickly and easily it's very simple to implement
the problem is... when will they understand that new clones are needed? and... do they want to do it?

I know a number of peopel who have expired clones, I've petitioned, and filed bug reports as requested by customer service.
Still nothing.
I've already got my character stuck in a station, or only flying freighters or something tought while travelling in empire space. Can't go into 0.0 or low security anymore while waiting for clones. Totally sucks.

Yeah new clones please (well before xmas in my case).
ALready thought if i hit the mark before they pull there finger out it will be case of luvin one of my alts for a bit.
Though with the silly skillage to run a dread seige mode there will be many in same boat.
I know CCP do drag things and you can raise bug requests and forums posts and ask the moderators all you like - and thats just to get few skills seeded from a patch thats 4 patch';s out of date and get nowere.
You could raise a harrasment petition naming CCP as the person doing the harassing regarding clones - sounds bit OTT but what I ended up doing for leadership skills in the end having pursued all other routes. Oh and did post about clones couple of months ago with the response level from CCP akin to a necrophiliacs partner :\.
Anyhow - given up stressing - there in when there in and posts asking were they are will only increase over time.
Now if they make higher clones available only at outposts - well i'd go for that and would be interesting move but atm we know nothing and until CCP state otherwise can only assume there ignoring us on the subject.

The clone problem is retarded. We had exactly the same problem a year ago before they added the Omega clones. All CCP have to do is add three values into a database (Clone name, SP saved, and cost) so I have no idea why they take forever to add new clones.

Signed, although I don't need new ones just yet I do feel sorry for the people that already do.
CCP might be thinking of doing something new for clones this time round, but in order to make the game fair (on the basis that people don't loose SP's due to the physical unavailability of a clone ranked high enough) I think there should at least be a clone that covers them sufficiently so they can carry on enjoying the game like everyone else till a new idea is bought into play.

I wonder why all these 'hardcore' pvp'ers complain about the carebear whiners that they don't enjoy the risk of loss, and when they themselves are risking somehting, all of a sudden eve becomes a crappy game?
As has been said above, abort training for a while, train up an alt on the same account, or simply trust your skills in pvp to not be podded?

Let me first say I am new to this game so I am sure most of you won't care about my opinion, but I think clones are stupid past a certain level. There should always be a penalty for dying and not just monetary. I miss the old days (and I may show my age here) of MUDs when if you died, you died....and lost all or at leave 1/2 of your experience up to that point. That made picking your battles and creating relationships on the game much more important.
Just my 2 cents.

Its a shame that the best clone in the game can reatain less than 10% of all available skill points for a ridiculous price too.
New clones aren't needed, tripling the capacity of current clones would work better long term.

I wouldn't mind if clones were a lot more expensive than today, just let those who want them pay for them.
1B for a clone that saves 50M SP would be perfectly acceptable - but then it should preserve the implants too.

He is probably right. It's not new functionality but an old one with new parameters (clone values). I do programing for a living and such things are trivial. This one is even simplier because there are no balance issues (as with changing ships stats for example) so no extensive testing is required.

If a character is 30k sp above the clone limit and gets podded, you can lose upto 260k sp on the highest level 5 skill. It's a BUG. And the devs didn't know about it until yesterday, but people have lost that much that I know personally.

Bug my ass. I have heard of that happening to people for ages. As far as I can tell the SP saved isn't a guarantee of how much SP is protected, its the limit at which you lose protection, because even getting podded with a basic clone only knocks off a level of a skill.

Would it not be easier for them to simply update the amount of SP's that the highest grade clone covers as a temporary measure?
If they don't want to introduce a whole new clone then maybe that would be a possibility?

Ofcourse it would be possible. But for some reason, they don't seem to take this issue very serious. If they did, this would have been fixed 2 months ago.

You don't understand how clones work. They don't "protect" the amount of SP listed. They stop you losing *any* SP if you are below your clones listed. But once over it you lose the same amount of SP (generally you lose one level of a skill at V) no matter what clone you had.
You *don't* lose all the SP that you have above the amount listed on the clone.

i Think ccp monitors very well how much people are over the limit, and are well aware that some percentage of people need a higher clone to cover all their SP. And on purpose they don't add a new clone till that number reach a certain barrier.

There is no skills involved in not getting podded. It's all about having l33t hardware combined with the fact of whether or not you lag too hard when you blow up.

The risks we take as far as skillpoint losses are not within our control, however, and this is why CCP need to do something.

I'm still just under 23 mil sp, but the fact that nothing has been done or mentioned about this is pretty disheartening. Chars with that many skills points have been with you since launch and and to be honest they desearve alot more respect than they seem to be getting from CCP atm. This isn't a matter of balance and it is a matter of being about to enjoy your character you've paid for (and are currently paying for) for the last 2+ (3?) years. Shame on you CCP.

Make the much more expensive tbh... Or there won't be much use for player-made clones imo. --------
FireFoxx80: If you think you can do a better job, go find yourself a datacentre to host a box, get a copy of Visual Studio, and STFU. |

maybe they want you to be good in one area and not all of them to balance the game out and thats why you have alts..

Maybe you lose skillpoints from the areas where you trained the most when you get podded.
Maybe you trained an area the most because it is needed the most in your gameplay.
See where I'm going with this?
Then maybe you should learn about the game before posting tripe.

That should be that side of the game covered for another couple of years, no?
I might get about two years of coverage out of a Sigma...unless new skills, stronger implants or boosters become available

Isn't the 38.4m SP clone 17m isk already?
Doesn't make much sense to introduce a new clone that cost less than a lower grade one
I think they should cost at least 50m and 100m and the apparently upcoming "unlimited" SP clone should cost over 500m
Anyway, once you'll have over 92m SP, you should be pretty rich by then |

All the old clones are gone, and the new ones have a new naming sceme.. And are a bit cheaper. No more alpha omega +++++ łber clones :)
