I've been using my Gistii fitted Harpy for lvl 3 Guristas missions for a few months now. I'm about ready to move into lvl 4s (training for the Ishtar but it is more than a month and a half away) and was wondering about the viability of using my Harpy for them.
My mission char is reasonably specialized for using the Harpy, with very nice cap and shield skills, as well as all the gunnery skills to at least lvl 4 including small railgun spec.
I'm using 125mm Railgun IIs, Gistii shield booster and afterburner, t2 hardener (varies between Em and Kin depending on mission) cap recharger II. Lowslots vary between 2x mag stab IIs or 1x mag stab II and 1x PDU II.
I can easily take out Guristas battleships in 0.0 up to the 750k Destroyer, the 1m Conquistadors are possible, but take a lot longer. Of course the battleships I can tank all day long.
I'm sure its possible for me to solo some of the easier missions. And for the harder ones I have a buddy also in a harpy (though not quite as specialized for it as I am).
So, what do you think? It's possible I'm sure, but how viable is it? I don't expect it to be nearly as <yawn> easy as the level 3s are.

you could probably tank a lvl 4 missions if yo udid it right, but i think practically it woudl take way to long, me and a buddy did guristas extravaganza in a cerberus and sacrilige and it took to ages

a single ship cant do all .. you have to match the ship to the lvl and damamge type being delt, harpy could solo serpentis and gurista probably, but not angels or bloods.. or drone hives it might but there is a high risk of it dying due to the massive EM damamge type being delt to it. thats wjust what i think

Think you should be using a Raven instead of messing around with an AF that can't get the job done.

Thing is that particular account will likely never be a BS pilot, and if she ever gets one, it won't be the Raven. When I made her it was my intention for her to be a frig only pilot, highly specialized. I've since decided to branch out just slightly and get into HACs as well. She's also meant to be a gunnery char, not missiles, thats what my main is for.
I don't intend to do LVL 4s all the time, just for fun every now and then, as I can probably make isk faster chaining LVL 3s, which I probably get done faster than most ravens.

I'd say it's possible, but it's going to take a large chunk of time for any mission and use quite a bit of ammunition. I tried one for kicks the other day and drew Mordus Headhunters. My damage stalled out on the second wave with a 600k and 800k Raven and Scorpion. Just could not get enough to break over the hump and ***** the shield tanks on them.
Your results my vary and better gunnery skills will add a bit more, but I still don't think it's enough to make them worthwhile timewise. In the time it takes me to kill a 300-400k ISK battleship I could have taken down 5+ 150k ISK cruisers so they aren't worth it to me. They aren't any more challenging because I just alt+tab between EVE and Firefox occasionally to see if the guns need reloading, the tanking is all but trivial once it's down to battleships.
All I can suggest is a HAC or BS fitted to deal with the battleships quickly and without much ammo and use the Harpy for clearing everything else, that tends to be the more challenging aspect.

There are also missions where you will come up against 5+ webbing/scrambling intys. Even with a gitsii sb you will have a hard time tanking them + several crusiers when going 0.5m/s
