I don't understand what you mean, why would you want to alin to an object, can you give me an example?

Correct me i'f I'm wrong but I 'think' he means like if your fighting someone 'align to' would point you at them? Maybe even keep you facing them?
Although if that is what he means, I'm not sure I see the purpose? Do guns track better if facing their targets directly? I was not under that impression.

Edited by: Ascuris Wurm on 21/10/2005 16:16:34 We would use it for aligning towards an object to be prepared to warp quickly when the time comes... escape or gang warp, for instance...

aHa! Now that is a good idea, miners often need to point their ships at the destination they plan to warp to in order to get away in time, in the event rats or pirates show. If you can cut down on the escape time by being already aligned to that object you have really done something useful :)

then what would the gankers do ?
the time to align is pretty much their time to lock u and start to fry your ship.
dont see CCP changing this anytime soon. TotensBurntCorpse Likes EVE, Starfleet Command Series, Earth & Beyond, Anything Battlefield, MOHAA, Call of Duty.

The thing is, people align already by double clicking near the object they want to align to... having a nav command would just make it easier. This would not give anybody an unfair advantage. It is something already possible.

This is true, and it's a good reason not to mess with it and work on something of greater priority.

Hmm, what about a match orbit or fly in formation command?

No, because its already possible and this would make it with less hassle it makes it a good idea to implement it. Plus this isn't something that would require much effort at all to code in.

The logic is as follows.
Rather than have to spin you view around to find the object, if its on your overview right click align to....
I know its a pain sometimes finding gates.
Another option would be a gang command. Align gang to same as warp gang to....

Yes, 'Align Gang' would be a very sweet feature indeed.

Signed.
Tho tbh the most annoying part is not that it takes a while to align to an object - I find this pretty easy: click item in overview, look for the square, set max speed to 1m/s, double click, stop ship.. done in 30 seconds.
What is really frustrating is the fact that you can get constantly knocked off position by your mining drones, and/or NPCs.
So for me a simple "Hold my position" command would be fine - it would just maintain your current position and heading regardless of what has knocked you about.
But align to object would work even better :)

Personally I want it for moon scanning, nothing worse than losing a probe cos it was a realy small moon and you didn't align properly.
