Edited by: Shin Ra on 23/10/2005 16:53:20 Everyone was using Caracals after the first couple of rounds. However everyone was using 2 ballistic controls in the lowslots. So I simply put 2 signal amplifier IIs in the lowslots and would lock anyone and dampen them before they could do the same to me.
Obviously the Final had no EW so I had to come up with some new setups for that.
I wonder if they will give me an imperial apoc.

Great Job Shinra, I have the handle ordered, all we have to do now is mount it on the back of your head. So you can hold your own head up with it. Because your head must weight 1000lbs by now.

No, but nice try
Any of the "standard" faction ships are up for grabs, no Fed's or Imp's. _____________________________ "There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?" |

Mmm I was instructed to contact Valar about the prize ship, don't think Oveur is the one to talk to about it

Lastly, the Caracal that seemed to pwn the tournament for the most part is one of the test set-ups. Most likely, that extra mid slot won't make it to TQ.
*Cough* ..warp out?... *cough* ..lol.
This is just. An unfortunate thought.

My 2 favourite fights of the semi-finals:
1. Tyrrax's high-speed chase in the semis. 2. Shin Ra's vampire fight, the first of the finals.
Awesome - the first one for the excitement, the second for the pWn4g3

The tournament was a big headache with the Devs because they did not pre-register people and as it went on, they found a lot of people watching the fights instead of attending the lectures.
Sorry, I went to learn about the future of EVE, not play it.
Next year, they will do pre-registration and put the focus on teams. (3 on 3, 5 on 5, etc...) They will also make sure the gaming is done at different times than the lectures.
With respect to people who were not there, the Caracal simply PWNED everything with EW. Shin Ra was right about one thing - putting ballistic controls on the things was silly considering the characters had 380 million skill points.
More than anything, the tournament was a module fitting contest and even sheer luck in some cases.
Regardless, for the first match of the final, Shin Ra had all of his modules hidden until right before he warped to the combat area. Tyrrax's Maller looked pretty damn scary... until Shin Ra's modules popped up and you saw the five medium NOS fitted to a Thorax.
The collective groan of inevitability in the auditorium was just priceless.

but seleene, you know as good as I do that the reason for the good caracal was the stupid no warp out rule
in actual combat you fight like this for your first time, then you learned to warp out and in till you are in your prefered range --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OFC, Nafri. But, then again, I think arranged 1 vs. 1's are stupid anyway. -

Hey while we're at it, some suggestions for next years tournament
-Fights taking place in obstacle rich environments like asteroid fields
-Fights over a whole solar system (with a small number of warpable objects)
-Objective based fights (capture the smorgleblaster?) -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

the caracal needs 2 more slots anyway
5/5/3 would be best, it has same number of slots then the osprey --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that Shin Ra should get a fedthron because it would be nice if someone flew one.
/me glares at DigitalCommunist.
On the upside it has 8 lows so you can't ask for more than that, right?

Edited by: NTRabbit on 25/10/2005 17:19:29 Yeah I totally agree with Levin, he should be able to get a Fedathron if he wants. It would be great to see one flying around, and those 8 lows could be very useful.

Awwww Oveur, that's not very nice The Amarr Empire IS a Faction and the Imperial Apocalypse IS a Battleship, so that makes it a Faction Battleship, right?
Had I won, I would have used that argument, as it didn't say anywhere that some factions was out of the question. And yes, I WOULD have asked for either the Impoc or Fedathron, who wouldn't?

The Imperial and Federal ships count as event ships not faction ships, space-lawyers. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |
