What a novel idea, replacing something that is really broken with something that's even more broken..

Nope, fix whats broken so that people dont have to use exploits.
Yes, fix what's broken by applying the broken part to everyone.
Great logic sleuth..

What amazes me about ideas from you and Discorp and those of like mind is that you dont seem to realize that 99% of the time there is no camp on the gate you are using. The answer is togive PvPers more ways to stop people, not slow down the entire game for that one in 100 gates that is camped. Fortunately the devs seem to realize this.
The answer is to add more opportunities for pvpers to stop people at gates without needing to resort to tactics that they themselves find lame (sniping from 150 km). The answer is NOT trivialising travel to the point where people make suggestions like I KNO LETS GET RID OF GATES LAWL.

If they removed instas tomorrow and made everyone warp right on top of the gate, it wouldnt trivialize travel anymore than it is now. Anyone beyond the very new to the game has instas to the places they travel.
They do? wow, that's news to me. Why don't you go ahead and prove it.
Originally by: Derisor In fact doing this would only make it easier on newbies that dont know about instas. It wouldnt do jack to the alliance pilot or other experienced pilot except reduce their data consumption in the database drastically.
Ohh yes, it would make everything easier, wouldn't it. Except, it wouldn't actually be a good change, would it, reducing travel like that.

I dont have access to the database nor to the customer list to prove it statistically or irrevocably. However, I have known hundreds of alliance pilots in my time in eve and hudreds of other pilots as well and I have never met a pilot over 3 or 4 months into the game that didnt have all the instas he needed and only had to travel in the cold when he either 1) didnt care because it was empire or 2) had never been there before. Certainly every alliance pilot I have met has isntas for their entire territory.
You've hung around in newbie chatrooms and npc chatrooms lots then? Spent an hour or so at a well-travelled gate and counted the people that were isntaing and not isntaing? Surely you have something other then "Groups of well-trained, dedicated players have instas"? Or, gasp, diD you actually mean "Everyone in 0.0 has instas" instead of "Everyone not too new to the game has isntas".
Pray tell.
Originally by: Derisor However, I do have a great deal of supporting evidence. If instas were rare or just moderately used, the devs wouldnt care. They dont like them because there are horendous numbers of them in the datbase. I remember seeing a quote from a dev once that said something like every eve player on average has over 1000 bookmarks. I regret I dont know where i read that but I believe in a dev chat.
That's where your alliances come in. 20.0000 people having all regions bookmarked (avg of 300 bm's per region, I estimate) means ungodly amounts of bookmarks.
I have never seen the 1000 bookmark avg claim and I read Devchats religiously. Source, please.

Sure it would. Still takes a long time to cover the warp distance, jump and accelerate out of a gate. Even with instas a 10 jump route is still 20 minutes or so. Combined with giving PvPers more tools to set up enforceable blockades, it would be grand!
For you. Not for Eve.

they'd have done it allready :(
