Frankly I'm just a little irked by all Im hearing about how critical the real big ships are going to be, especially now that I hear that Titans will essentially get weapons that allow them to destroy everything on a grid without having to actually be in system. This whole Death through a cyno field is just too much, the scale of the game is just moving too far past the individual pilot in the field making contributions and sacrifices for the cause. Heck if Titans come as advertised fleets will become smalltime exercises. I just think that its ridiculous, werent titans suppossed to be unarmed ships fulfilling a largely logistic role?

That looks better BTW, Titans are basically Carriers with lots of hp, XL Turrents, and a really big super weapon, and a final note, the cost of Titans will be done so that there will be around 10 of them in the game at a time, so I wouldn't call them all encompassing of combat

Heck if Titans come as advertised fleets will become smalltime exercises. I just think that its ridiculous, werent titans suppossed to be unarmed ships fulfilling a largely logistic role? Seems to be that the Titans are not designed to be anti-POS, but could be used in that way. That super-weapon hasn't even seen the light of day on our test servers, so don't go all "the sky is falling" on us yet. They will be GIANT investments and will need escort just as Dreads do now. I don't know where this "doesn't need to be in the system" part came from... seems like that super weapon is a last-defense kind of thing and not on par capable of killing everything in the vicinity. We don't have solid data yet as there is a lot of functionality these will represent - hell, they've been in and out of development since beta so they'll release em when they're done and no sooner (ok, well, maybe a little sooner :D) While they mentioned planetary action (or was it just walking around? can't remember) I'd bet they're secretly working on getting a planetary economy going (i.e. owning planets and "harvesting" them) so having such large logistical power will be required. As it is now, POS and outpost are as big as it gets for players as Freighters and Dreads seem to have focus only dealing with those, BUT throw in planets and true territory control and you've got some more to work with. Just feels like another attempt at expanding this game into another dimension of complexity that will take a few major steps. I'll be quiet now :D -------- I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

Let me help you with a little concept problem you seem to be having... Eve = MMOG = teamplay. Getting and utilising a titan is going to require the pinnacle of teamplay, so what's the problem?Eve Blacklight Style

Well you need teamplay on the front AND the back ends of the experience. We dont want to reduce individual pilots to being just minions. The individual player needs to be able to affect events in a more meaningfull way then just looking at a titan and going "I mined 0.0001% of the trit for that".

Hohohooo, damn I didn't know those worked! ... ... ...REALLY HOT AND SEKRET INFORMATION: The devs are going to release super-ultra Titans which will be even bigger versions of the ones people are talking about. Except they'll be a secret! SO SECRET IT MIGHT EVEN BE OUT ALREADY :O And the only people who will find out how to get one are BoB and 5, because they're all devs and GMs. Planned features of this super-ultra Titan, hereby referred to as the L.A.G. System ("Large Annihilation Gun" System) are: - the ability to make hundreds of people on the same grid not see anything! - the ability to pod people when they're in the middle of warp - the ability to shoot right past shields and armor! ... totally f***in true. The L.A.G. cometh for you. ¼_¼ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning.

Honestly, I had heard that the Titan superweapon had come in just for effects at Fanfest really powerful; it was set up overpowered so everyone could be like 'oooh. Aaah. Pretty.' I doubt that in honest terms, you're going to be able to fire some missiles through a little wormhole and wtfpwn anything on the other end - as in, destroying a whole grid worth of ships. ------------------------------------ Humbug !

So, end of EVE? Like... Dreadnoughts, Highways, Tech 2, Castor, Shiva, POSs, Insurance, Mining Barges, Lag, Taking the highways out, Lag, days of DTs(several times), and all those bugs? Cause if Titans are the end, I guess that means we are hitting 100k subs soon :D The scale has been beyond the individual in fleet battle since the first one where it was at least 10 pilot involved. Doesn't mean that all combat is like that. Noone is going to drag out thier Titan to wtfbbq that frig gang, or the guy running around with his 2 buddies in BSs or HACs. ------------------ Silver Night Director -Production and ScienceHelp the State, Make tens of millions! But if that isn't the current intent of the developers for the Titan's superweapon, then why would they show a titan doing just that? I don't care if a titan costs a trillion isk to obtain and needs the concerted coordination of 500 people to operate. Nothing in this game should fire once from outside the system and kill anything. That idea isn't in the realm of silly, its standing squarely in the realm of stupifyingly absurd. If someone is gonna fire something that's gonna roast dozens of ships, in one shot mind you, every potential roaster should be able to see that ship and have an opportunity to move to destroy it.

Likely it is expensive to fire the weapon, and there might be warning as well. If it has to fire to a cynosural field, that means that there hass to be a friendly ship at the other end generating it. Enemy fleet will have to know something is up. ------------------ Silver Night Director -Production and ScienceHelp the State, Make tens of millions! The Summit

lol that would be funny IF it could shoot through cysonural fields... can you imagine the hilarity at using it to break up hostile fleets camping gates? 1. Charge up the weapon 2. Send frig with cysonural field through into gatecamp 3. Activate weapon 4. Pick up cans
