I guess 10 years of operations killed the server :/ aye it's backup but this all reminds me of the issues regarding Apocrypha deployment, and the server was down for like 36 hours. Skill queues didnt exist back then and we were never reimbursed for SP...could I have the SP I lost then on top of the free 50K??? |

Actually, you doing what you are suggesting everybody do does NOT help the situation. CCP needs feedback from various people all over the world to ensure the connection is reaching them, along with some witty comments, this is exactly what the players are doing. It's important to express problems ith the connection as it's being fixed so they have conformation it is fixed...walking away from the computer for a while nullifies any attempt at obtaining that conformation.

That's 5 hours. So, you either don't want to tell the players anything about the cause of the problems, or, you haven't a bleeding clue. Either case is quite baad mmkay?
I understand most people's wanting to know a little briefing about what is happening, but with all due respect, you cant expect someone to explain step for step what is going on as they are attempting to ascertain the problem. Techs need to focus on the problem at hand. I would rather they spend their time focused on getting at the issue and solving rather then taking time out along the way to explain what has happened and how its being fixed. Its better to put that in a post after its been fixed.
Until then you will just have to be patient, knowing what is happening will not make it be resolved any faster. If you feel you can provide valued tech support on issues arising like this, I suggest perhaps applying to IT for CCP Games, then you can get your hands on the scenario when it happens :) |

The issue isn't the launcher, it's networking. London is wher e TQ and SiSi servers are hosted from, the ISP that host them have been having issues keeping Internet service up in the area. As a result, a lot of people keep getting disconnects. The ISP has a slight packet loss enough to kill the connection. CCP took servers down to determine if the issue was on their side, but it appears that is a third party connectivity issue. This would explain why the other servers managed to still accept connections even when TQ and SiSi weren't but were still online.
When you have an Internet outage, you don't blame your computer, you blame the ISP. The launcher is irrelevant in this matter. The massive reports of it displaying in Russian is most likely the server's attempt to reroute the network through working dns hubs that pass through those frequented by Russian users and the server misread that as a Russian client. Eitherway the launcher isn't to blame here. |

That just sounds like a computer issue...when in doubt do a system restore to a date before you had the issue. |

Dust uses CREST to connect to TQ...it is possible, while unlikely that CREST was interrupting the TQ connection to the rest of the world. You can imagine an egg, TQ is the yolk and Dust through CREST is like a shell around it. If it's acting up then TQ could as well. The priority is to fix and rule out any connections to TQ, which at the moment is dust and CREST. One that is fixed, if the issue still exist, then tackle the actual TQ heart. Sorry, but that will usually be the case in troubleshooting eve connection problems. Don't like it? Too bad that's how things are. If dust had its on server and TQ was linked to it through crest then eve would have taken priority as its the easiest to solve and rule out. |

nah ive seen this before from ccp, thier weekend crew is just there to mark the time, customer service at iceland doesnt exist on weekends. cant help but say again, launcher was never broke before it was improved... maybe if its not broke shouldnt fix it... -imm
If these issues revolved around the new launcher I'd agree, but they aren't...as stated many times before this is a networking issue not a software issue. The launcher is working fine as its designed to, the network aka Internet in the area isn't. So in this case launcher was never broke true, but it is now improved and apart from the issues on day one with it, there have been none. |
