Can not see any fault with CCP at all in this situation. Training was inactive for about 6 hours, CCP was working their asses off to make sure all was good with eve for a lot longer, no complaints. Keep doing what you are doing guys, you are awesome. Raevyn Enderas > wasn't it Jerky Boys where they were talking about blasting someone in the ass with a vasoline potato? |

I know there's people in here that played Face of Minkind. Quitte smaller then CCP/EVE, but still , paying monthly to play the game. Thy crumbled, and went bankrupt, after sequential DDoS attacks, making me start playing Eve in November 2007.
Remember that w/e info is posted by CCP, CAN be altered to not show their full hands.. A DDos (or Dos) attack happened, they where aware, and decided to take all services down to PROTECT US. And got back within 24 hours..
Kudos CCP, you rock !

Since this was down to an attack on CCP's infrastructure I personally feel they did the best, and probably the right, thing. Whilst I missed my 'Eve Time' I feel that is far preferable to risking having my account trashed etc etc (whether you believe it technically possible or not in this particular circumstance is not the issue here) So, in my view, the 'compensation' numerous people have been calling for is unnecessary (nice though, provided it's not actually costing CCP real money) some SP are always welcome :) Thanks CCP, great game, shame people want to screw with it but perhaps it's part of the price of fame. |

Thanks for staying up and fixing it! I don't blame you all all and am not mad or anything. I just have one question. When compensation is announced, will it be in a post in eve news, or just given in game? Thanks! |

Excuse my poor english, in Mother Russia we try again and again to improve it.
Thank you, guys and gals in CCP, for your hard work and swift reaction to the problem! As sad as it was to have the whole server down, it was the best call. As a member and full-time subscriber, I only want to express my gratitude to all of you, who worked high and low to resolve this issue. You're the ones who brought it offline and got it online in most swift fashion. Great job!
To all, who brag about rights and compensations - this is EVE. **** happens in EVE. Ships lost? ISK lost? Structures lost? So what? All what is CCP even in theory is obligated to provide - 1-day PLEX card for 1 day offline. Most people knew that EVE had problems that day, in my NPC corp every one was aware that something was happening and that we play at our own risk. If you play, knowing that you may be kicked anytime - it's up to you to ensure your safety. So they are under NO OBLIGATION to compensate anything more then the time we payed.
Yet again, my pure joy goes to all of CCP employees and off-site-staff, who was at any time involved in it's creation, and even more to that team, who investigated this problem and patched it to the kingdom come. You are simply THE most amazing people.

I cant figure out how a company as big as ccp did not put any safe guards in-place to stop this from happening. Its not like it was the first time they were attacked via DDOS. I think this is the second if not third time (I know there was one in 2011)
I am not very happy with CCP right now...Depending how my petition goes I may just cancel my account out right...and NO you cant have my stuff.
Please cancel your account, your mom will be pleased that you are not using her credit card to pay for a computer game.

I can't get past my launcher, once I put my information in, it keeps telling me that the format is invalid and shows the station in the background like from the older versions. I can't get to any of my characters and would like to know why this is happening. is it because of the server issues or did the update my launcher automatically downloaded just fail? I uninstalled EVE and am now reinstalling it in the hopes that I can get my mining frigate back to the station before it gets blown up. if I don't get back to it soon, that's the last ship I have and I REALLY don't want to start all over again or have to buy a plex just to jumpstart my character if and when I'm able to get back into EVE. |

Hey, it could have been worse. Sony network was down for 24 days and customer info was compromised. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Network_outage)
Thanks CCP for the Good Fight and Ultimate Victory. May your shields stay strong. Now if we can get the Bounty system to work in RL.
Waiting for Odyssey with all my turrets crossed.

I think that we should buy some plex so Guard and the other 10YR+ employees could cover the cost of meeting the party or parties responsible for the DDOS and baptize all those swords they got. PS If you guys have not thought about it you should give all the 10 year players an ingame0 account bound Viking Sword for their character creators. PPS since he already runs around the office like a madman was it really a "good" idea to give Guard a sword, he probably went on his luch break to get it sharpened :)

You don't need to read a forum thread. There was a news post about it that said they will be working out how to compensate. Bienator II: "You can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose." I play in highsec. |

********* My English is not so good, but just to understand with crystal clarity, did
1) this back-end service vulnerability actually allow a DDoS to take place, or
2) did the DDoS not take place, and in reality the problem was something different, something related to the back-end service? |

Seriously people, this was mostly annoying for CCP folks than for us.
Ok you might have lost your prime time gaming and mined some less of ice or whatever crap me or someone else could have done, doesn't matter.
All it matter is that this DDOS shite attack does not influence my trust or faith in CCP, in Eve or its players. Ther's nothing you can do about RL jerks and shite, let them be and return deep down in their mom's cave get some e-epeen and internets from someone else, just ignore those fecking idiots, deal with your little repercussions and move on. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

No single device was able to protect 100%. NOT a SINGLE one.
Even with combined devices, only 3% of all combinations manage to stop all hacks/exploits.
And yes, this where 37 devices from 24 manufacturers tested, all used in the professional environment.
I guess you're one of those self-proclamed ICT experts that think if they run an anti-virus program they're 100% safe.
