x2 accounts canceled.... I cant play anymore for the first time in 6 years
If EvE doesn't want my money due to the fact that like others I have motion sickness then more power too them....
I am not asking for it to be removed just give us the OPTION of turning it off...... I also find it really surprising that not a single internal Dev gets motion sick...... |

CCP Sisyphus wrote: Simply adding the ability to "turn it off" is a cop-out, and leaves us in the position where we have a sub-optimal animation in game that some people are unhappy with and choose not to use. The jump transition, much like the warp tunnel, is here to stay as a replacement for loading bars, and therefore it has to be good for everyone, and has to function as intended.
We will stress though, that we hear your concerns and we're in the process of exploring various avenues for resolving them that include work on the camera and work on the animation itself to smooth it out and alter how it flashes and scrolls, however this is something that will take time and won't happen overnight.
Again, thanks for all the feedback, both positive and negative. It's being taken on board, and we're looking to make changes based on the things that you guys are concerned with the most, without removing the transition completely.
The process when jumping is as follows:
Player gives the command to jump while in range of a stargate. Client sends notification to the server. Server starts moving you, and relays this back to client. Client starts animation. Client unloads information about previous system. Server finishes moving you to new system. Your ship appears cloaked in new system Server informs client of arrival in new system, and what is on grid. Client loads information about new system into overview/local and begins transition end. You are ready to move.
As a Temporary feature allow a black screen with no loading bar... I dont care if it is something that you have to manually set in the config so the vast amount of players won't even care about it. Just a small block of code that says if flag = true Override animation with black screen. Just KISS it....No fancy animations... No loading bar... Just black it out until I am ready to move...
If it means that my screen goes black during gate jumps and then it is like a light switch is turned on I don't care. If it means my reaction time is a bit slower on a gate camp I don't care. If it means I get killed due to it because of said gate camp again I don't care. What I do care about and many others on this thread is that currently because I was born the way I was born I suddenly can't play a game I have invested quite a bit of time in and would continue to like to play....
As for a cop out which is worse... accepting that some people can no longer play your game and giving people a temporary work around to give you time to adjust it so everyone is happy...... Or not admitting you didn't think something through all the way and holding fast while you lose customers over something very trivial like a jump animation..... |

Malcanis wrote:I quite like the new jump animation thingy.
Of course I also remember when CCP proved their hatred and contempt for the players by dooming EVE to die within a couple of months by changing the font.
Changing the font didnt make people PHYSICALLY SICK.....
It is one thing to say I don't agree with the Devs because I don't like the way xyz looks. That is a personal preference that outside of the screen unless it is hard to read due to my eye sight doesn't impact my gameplay or my PHYSICAL well being.
This animation DOES MAKE ME SICK as well as others...... Please before this thread gets to 75-100 pages understand this. THIS IS MAKING PEOPLE PHYSICALLY SICK AND UNABLE TO PLAY.
This is not a I don't like the way this looks BUT I can still play it is LITERALLY I CAN NO LONGER PLAY THIS GAME DUE TO HOW I WAS BORN!!!! |

One last quick note..... This is not a small percent of the population.....
About 33% of people are susceptible to motion sickness even in mild circumstances such as being on a boat in calm water, although nearly 66% of people are susceptible in more severe conditions. Individuals and animals without a functional vestibular system are immune to motion sickness.
Borden Institute Benson, AJ (2002). "35". Motion Sickness. In: Medical Aspects of Harsh Environments
In a study conducted by U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences in a report published May 1995 titled "Technical Report 1027 - Simulator Sickness in Virtual Environments", out of 742 pilot exposures from 11 military flight simulators, "approximately half of the pilots (334) reported post-effects of some kind: 250 (34%) reported that symptoms dissipated in less than 1 hour, 44 (6%) reported that symptoms lasted longer than 4 hours, and 28 (4%) reported that symptoms lasted longer than 6 hours.
Simulation sickness, or simulator sickness, is a condition where a person exhibits symptoms similar to motion sickness caused by playing computer/simulation/video games.[
The most common theory for the cause of simulation sickness is that the illusion of motion created by the virtual world, combined with the absence of motion detected by the inner ear, causes the area postrema in the human brain to infer that one is hallucinating and further conclude that the hallucination is due to poison ingestion. The brain responds by inducing nausea and mass vomiting, to clear the supposed toxin. According to this theory, simulation sickness is just another form of motion sickness.
The symptoms are often described as quite similar to that of motion sickness, and can range from headache, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, vomiting and sweating. Research done at the University of Minnesota had students play Halo for less than an hour, and found that up to 50 percent felt sick afterwards. |

Quote: Like I said, there are only three options. Deal with it, wait for them to fix it, or quit. That's the end of it. Lock this thread already.
Did that for a bit..... Got tired of waiting.... Already did the final option as well.....
Just like a person famously said above
Quote: "I know a song that'll get on your nerves, Get on your nerves, Get on your nerves: I know a song that'll get on your nerves, Get, get get on your nerves"
Well considering this "feedback" thread has 53 pages and has been going on for over a month now which in EvE thread terms for a non sticky thread ranks it as "gee maybe they are actually serious about this"...
Maybe just maybe we better bump the business priority so that this in our next sprint...... Or at least provide some feedback since it doesn't look like this one is going away.....
Who knows maybe if we have to do another hotfix or another smaller release we can stick a temp fix in to get rid of this being on the front page..... |

They have made their choice already.....
It has been over a month since I last logged into eve with either of my accounts.... Soon this one will end as well....
They only want people who HTFU and don't complain about something new and shiny they added for the benefit of all the player base even though the player base never wanted it in the first place.
Now they do the typical CCP response and ignore anyone who tells them otherwise...... We are in the minority and until it really hurts their bottom line this is a low priority issue to them put in the "we will get to it soon" this decade backlog....
They have decided that it is worth losing those small amount of people who physically can't play and concentrate on new features to bring more players in...... |

My specs.....
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Memory 16384 MBytes Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6900
State of the art.... Of course not
Easily able to play EvE on Medium or High settings Yup.....
Before you try and troll saying HTFU and get a better comp know that even a 6-7k alienware POS running stuff that just came out yesterday would NOT CHANGE HOW I AND HALF THE PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD WERE BORN!!!!!
This is not a Hardware, Software, Speed problem. This is literally we have an ADVERSE PHYSICAL REACTION to the current graphics... |
