I was wondering how many of you played the game fullscreen compared to the standard window? Thanks :D

I play windowed while downloading a torrent... while studying japanese usually while mining. When I get bored of mining I minimize Eve and play Dawn of War: Winter Assault. ( Yes it works, go alienware! ).
So yeah, windowed for the win.

Windowed of course.
Usually I have bittorrent running, Firefox up so I can ***** the forums, and if I'm not forum whoring, some sort of anime episode up on Always On Top. Or Stargate, or Battlestar Galactica. Or Family Guy. - Proud member of the [23].

Weird, exactly the opposite here. It takes like 2-3 seconds to switch from full screen to any other app, and often hangs EVE. Windowed is instant, and never hangs EVE. - Proud member of the [23].

3 Instances, all in windowed 1280x1024.
Will Alt-Enter into full screen when doing big ass NPCS or PvP, don't know why, but I feel safe knowing theres no accidental clicks on the other part of the screen.

im not saying it doesnt take 2-3 seconds cause it does to change from full screen to windows, but when i play eve in windowed the computer lags so the time it takes to load say... internet explorer is 5-6 seconds! I guess i just have a slower computer than you ;)
And in response to the guy above me... god i wish i had a computer powerful enough to do have all the things running that you do! lol --------------

Do you have:
a) A gig of RAM? If not, get it. RAM is cheap nowadays. b) Firefox? If not, get it. c) Windows XP? If so, hit ctrl-alt-delete, and lower the priority of EVE. This should lower any lag that happens when EVE is running. - Proud member of the [23].

windowed, I'm usually doing like three other things while playing.
winamp/photoshop/firefox/trillian, pretty much anything that distracts me haha.
The worst part is when I'm reading the news or forums while in the middle of a pvp op

Edited by: Admiral Keyes on 05/11/2005 02:19:17 Windowed here but at 1280x768 resolution so its widescreen, i then use the bottom 5-6 inch of my 19 inch TFT to surf the web, talk on msn, download etc... while talking to corp mates/running missions.
If im feeling like an eve-only session, then i'll fullscreen it at 1280x1024.

Also, laptops generally are a lot more sluggish when multitasking, due to their slow hard disks. So that would explain any thrashing. Of course thats a great reason to get more RAM... and of course laptop RAM costs an arm, leg, and your firstborn - Proud member of the [23].

Well I know what i'll be selling first then... I mean, I really need my arm to play eve, my legs to get food and drink in between playing eve... that only leaves........ muahaha
I guess at this point its a good fact that I havent got any kind of "born", let alone a firstborn.
Anyway - Another problem with RAM + Laptops is that its a bugger to install onto it without accidentally voiding any form of warranty! --------------

Yeh I run windowed as well, due to wanting to be able to multi-task. Use 2 accounts, surf the web etc.
Would be interesting to know what works for people who are running Dual Accounts at once. I used Ricdic as my mission runner, with Ricdics (second account) running behind as a loot collector. My biggest problem is having to shut down Ricdics while Ricdic is fighting in a mission.
It would be great to be able to leave them both logged on with minimal lockups (I mean one fighting, and say the loot collector 1 gate behind, so not inside the same combat field).
I have tried a variety of things to optimise performance, however I cant seem to get anywhere
Basic System Specs: AMD Athlon 2500+ XP, 1 gig ram, Ati Radeon 9600pro (128mb), and a few hard drives of various sizes, but all high speed.
I have followed ancient advice, relating to turning sun oclusions and trails off, disabled the sound on the loot collector account, but I cant really see any other options. Hopefully some of you other people will have some lag reducing advice. (and yes I have read the thread about it, however that is old and outdated)
Sorry for mini-hijaak, but kinda on the same page.

Full screen at 1600x1200, but cut down when to a lower res window when running vent or fraps. **************** Pain is a way of knowing yourself; Death is the ultimate in self-discovery.

If you dont have hyperthreading on your chip, or dual core if you are luckey, then running another app while running eve is gonna be a problem. I have HT and i can run eve, 3 broswer, a movie and torrent at the same time (azureus takes up lots CPU)

This is what Intel wants you to think.
You can multitask just fine without HT, or without dual core. Computer chips have been designed for decades to be able to do this. HT in particular does basically nothing and is simply a marketing gimmick. - Proud member of the [23].
