They were nerfed somewhat, yes (the whole sensor compensation skills that you probably trained to IV when they came out). That's why we shifted our ECM from jammers to dampeners/disruptors. But TEST likes using old doctrines I guess? I don't know, we blew up an ECM fleet today and I got a Scorpion kill. Unlike our old alphafleet scorpions though, it was mostly ECM and armor tanked. Which is sort of amusing since it was in a fleet with (expendible) blackbirds and griffons and whatnot, a bit expensive to be thrown away. Oh well. I am a nullsec zealot.

I'm not used to the buffs they received and I don't think I ever will. The idea of people pointing at caracal losses as some kind of metric by which to measure success in a war is very hilarious to me. They're also cheaply fit cruisers you can shove a relative newbie into, and I've witnessed caracalfleet do significant damage to much more expensive doctrines, and that is again very funny to me.

The skills of Mr vee played a large part but it's a highly effective doctrine.

During the last Fountain campaign after the fall of 6VDT, and Imperian was helicopter-dicking structures everywhere, Boat led an Alphafleet 17 jumps one-way to shoot some SBUs. Several people cried out to Boat that the SBUs were 2 hours away from being out of their timer, but Boat insisted that we were not traveling down the pipe to some dead-end system to kill those SBUs. Well, we got there, and the SBUs still had 2h left on the timer... So we popped and podded Boat and went home. He was in an insufficient clone as well. Ah, good times... On the other hand, I personally witnessed Boat in a perfect composition Alphafleet take on a Tengufleet and AHAC fleet and come out with probably ten Maelstrom losses. He simply kited them so bloody perfectly, and for some reason they weren't shooting Huginns. Boat also got said Huginns to web the AHAC gang's anchor, which left them practically dead in the water, while the Tengufleet pissed off after losing half their DPS (50-60 or so). The AHAC gang got annihilated because the anchor/FC was too dumb to realize why he had no transversal. That was when I was flying covops, and it was a JOY to watch.

This was about 3 years ago. He's matured into one of Eve's best, it's great fighting him.
