Just remember we had extended downtime today, maybe something was changed that did this, it may not all be on 4S. While I do think it was a crappy way to protest, it was quite effective tho.. I would hold my accusations until we get an official word. Remember the eve server has gone down before and it wasnt because of raining shuttles.

There is more civil ways to protest and the name change isnt that old that 4S would had time to use all the proper channels to try communicate with CCP. Causing server to lag or try crash node isnt proper way to do it and anyone should know it before they even install eve.

There used to be similair types of protests in SWG, albeit for other reasons. The players involved got a prolonged holiday from the game.
Now, I don't really give a rat's ass about whether the name change was justified or not. That is a thing to sort out between the corp involved and CCP. However, if my gameplay is hindered by such protest actions, I'll have to say, hit them fast and hit them hard with the ban stick.

Anyways, I don't know how long the servers have been out of commission, but it's still a fact that those chumps are causing an outage which costs CCP money which comes from us. Usually, when you cost a corporation lots of damages like this, you're not going to be on good terms with them - don't be surprised if their assets are frozen and they're banned or suspended for a while.
Lets just hope, for all our sakes, that none of them have any of the good T2 BPOs

Protests are nice and all, but do it in a appropriate fasion. If these problems (ie. i cannot connect to keep playing) are their fault, thats an attack and ban the whole lot of em.

I can understand being upset at having a long-time familiar name changed that means a lot to you, just because theres a clause in the EULA you didn't read.
HOWEVER, I can not understand the need to make other people who have nothing to do with said action suffer. It's basically the same as blowing up a busy train line just because the government tells you to name your shop something else.
Senseless acts of willfull disruption only get you negative attention, and unlike at the age of 5 where your parents eventually give in, negative attention gets you a negative response.
Good job preventing the rest of us from just getting on with our EVE lives, idiots. I sincerely hope every one of you is banned for such lack of regard for your fellow players.

This was a planned event, a bunch of players decided to protest the ridiculous change of their corp's name, we knew this was comming yesterday.
To be honest, I say "good for them". Their original corp name was a 3-letter acronym which at least several RL organizations use. The ridiculous move by the GM's (after such a long time of this corp's name being in existance) to change their corp's name deserves a protest.
Perhaps CCP should publish a list of 3-letter acronyms which cannot be used and then give corps using one on the banned list a chance to change their name.
For the love of gawd, this is a game, not RL. If I wanted to name my corp Microsoft or FedEX or UPS or IBM, I should be able to.

 The Server is still up for those still connected, but there seems to be a fault with the login server
(i tried connecting an alt account, get the stupid error; I still have a character ingame)

there are plenty of COMMUNITY oriented venues for expressing ones dissatisfaction with something that may affect your corp or self, engaging in what amounts to an act of vandalism that adversely affects tens of thouseands of people not only alienates your cause but is also amoral, a violation of the EULA, and mayby even illegal.... a form of DoS attack using graphics instead of direct pingfloods.
many people dont have the luxury of devoting more than a few hours of time a week to enjoy a service they PAY for. and this kind of grabass stunt will only garner negative feelings and HOPEFULLY the wrath of the team.
