As the electronic frontiers expand, international boundaries contract. What is unacceptable in one country may be the norm in another. Old becomes new and the cycle repeats itself again and again.
We live in an age where political correctness now rules. People take offense to the words or actions of another at the slightest provocation. What once was the exception has now become the norm.
Over the past 10 days, we were just as culpable of bringing political correctness into EVE as anyone else. Based on the actions of one player and incomplete research, we changed the name of a corporation. In the process, we did something that accidently offered insult to that corporation.
So, here we stand on the 11th day. After further research, some discussion with members of 4S and more internal discussion, the name of the 4S corporation will be restored. You can read more about this in Oveur's new Dev Blog.
We are doing this because of the reasons Oveur stated in his blog. We are not doing this because of the protests staged in Jita yesterday or on the forums. Those that broke the terms listed in the EULA, ToS and forum rules have been punished and those punishments will stand. There are other ways to protest a decision, including e-mailing myself. Breaking the rules is not in the list of acceptable ways to protest a change.
Effective immediately, the 4S Corporation will have their name restored. The open topics of old discussion will be locked. New discussion may continue in this thread.
To those inadvertently insulted by the name change, I offer an apology. As I stated, our intentions were based on current policies and humanitarianism.

It's the policy of CCP, GMs and even ISD to never discuss warnings, bans and other actions with any third parties. So unless you were banned we will not discuss it with you, or publically at all.

You do allow your isd people to put the blame for a server crash on 4s. I cannot see how they can be responsible for that server crash. The dev response looked like a network problem to me. Could you please get someone to verify it or get Eris to post an apology. That thread had almost 40k pageviews and I am not sure 4s deserved that.
If you have a problem with a moderator you are more than welcome to email [email protected] and we'll look into it. However, I would appreciate it if you didn't post about it on the forums. Mainly because it violates a forum rule and that means we would have to warn you, something I would like to avoid myself and I think you would like to avoid as well.

I usually find your posts either funny or interesting, but you are going too far this time. Get away from the computer, relax, have some tea and come back as a nice person again.

Cool, I had no idea you have spycams at CCP HQ, please share all info you can get on what they do with me, because I want to know as well.

There you go and ruin it for me, I was really hoping someone had spycams at CCP.

Originally by: Weco Of course i don't, and i also need to alter my statement changing it to "web search" instead of "google search". My misstake. Even so, theres no way to tell if a source found on the web is reliable or not, unless its a official website or such. Regardless if how they serched the web, its obvious that it was either, a to small search, or found sources with "wrong" information, or a combination of both. The fact that the web is largly a "western" media has to be tacen into account. However, how ever you look at it, the search was faulty and now corrected.
Kudos for that though.
Yea, sorry, I probably took the joke a bit too far, happens sometimes.
Though I honestly wish that there were spycams at CCP HQ, at least sometimes.

Originally by: VeNT but are those who where involved in last nights jita abuse going to be banned?
I was under the impression they hadn't determined what caused the outage yet. Of course I could be wrong.
Either way several alliances had wars in Jita to induce lag about a week ago. Shouldn't they get banned too?
The information regarding that can be found in kierons top post in this thread:

And thats about all information regarding that issue that will be released I think.

Yay at 4S getting their name back, but tbfh anyone involved in the crashing should be permabanned...
Read up.. read kierons top post.. should be fairly obvious that was not, is not and never will be tolerated.

Good lord, I forget to add one word to a forum post, which I included in a Dev Blog, and the entire effort by CCP is null and void. Avon, take a look here, quoted for clarity and intention.
Originally by: kieron from Dev Blog This decision and EULA enforcement will not be popular with players affected by the change. This is unfortunate. However, I would ask that spurious petitions, e-mails and forum posts cease.
Bold is my addition today. Pardon the omission in the forum post yesterday.

Ok, we need to calm down again. It's ok if you are angry about what happened, no matter what "side" you are on. But please don't start fighting each other over it.

It's time to return this thread to its original topic. Time to stop the arguements. Time to get along.
I'm going to leave the comments in the thread up to this point alone. If the arguement over treatment of those punished in Jita continues, the thread will be locked, and warnings issued.
Time to leave this alone and move on.

Kieron is the Community Manager and works for CCP, he gets paid. I'm a volunteer and I don't work for CCP, so I don't get paid.
