Every minute I don't spend in eve am spending on the net with the possibility of finding another game that takes my interest.  we all pay good money to play this game, or put in the hours to pay for it with ISK. but i agree with you the server needs to be up or down, you guys should be able to track where the DDoS attacks are coming from, associate those IPs with game accounts either through direct matchup of time and IP from service provider or through your own logs of users connecting to your servers. the 50k SP for the what was it 36 hours downtime was kind of a slap in the face i'm not going to lie, fully mapped and 5s > 150k SP gone in that time. i work from home too, i expect the servers to be down during normal service for 15-30 minutes a day, these extended downtimes from attacks needs to come to an end, block connection to the IPs causing the problem, and if they cant log into eve anymore because they were DDoSing good, lottery off the BPOs and let the space get taken

Why even put such a message in your shutdown announcement when you have no way to keep such a promise? I understand it takes time to address issues, but if you can't guarantee that the servers will be back up in 20 minutes, its best to never give that estimate in the first place.
How many times have you told someone you would be somewhere by a certain time, and failed?
How many times have you said "just a minute" and it took two.
Really, seriously, are you being a bit anal about how much time it took to fix the problem? I would prefer they get it right rather than strictly stick to a general comment meant to give a general idea of how long they thought it would take to bring the server back up.
Just calm down, Jesus, don't have a coronary over time. I am fairly certain that you must, like all people, fail to meet the general times you state when giving other people an idea of how long you will be. Chill out.

Can anyone tell me what DDOS stands for, I can tell you, DISTRIBUTED, Denial of service, which means it sends out a massive amount of imitations of clients, emails and other IP's programmed to attack a single IP over a whole network, especially those "Smart" network guys who say track down the source? Wrong, You will never be able to track down a DDOS attack to the very root, because your tracking it to all the IP's and Networks that is has been bounced off of, which takes too much time anyways to do... And they 9/10 will not be able to trace after that point.

I bet it took about 20 minutes for people to get onto the forums and launch into their little "i'm an entitled snot that wants more sp for skill training i didnt even lose" tirades. So why assume that CCP was referring to when the servers were going back up? |

Their server is not ALWAYS going down. Someone who has less than a month's experience with EvE probably should find out the history of this game before pronouncing judgement.
You can chill, write a petition to regain what you felt you lost when the game is back online, or you can leave and never know what your missing.
