At one point tonight, and for a substantial period of time - about an hour I think - of the 18 characters in my system 16 were macrominers.
Does that trouble you ? It troubles me.
I'm deliberately bumping this thread because I think Hippo has thought up a sweet idea. It's brilliantly simple. In fact it's so brilliant and simple I'm ashamed I didn't think of it myself. I'm certainly simple enough.
I love this idea of a concerted effort by all players to tackle the problem instead of us all looking to ccp to solve it for us.
And it can be done. I disrupted one macrominer tonight sufficiently to wake up its master. He messaged me. In Chinese characters curiously enough.
My thoughts are still forming on this, but I see real potential ahead if the player base as a whole is willing to tackle what I see as a real threat to this game and all others. I, hesitantly, see something like an anti macro channel whereby players can be informed of MM activity in their locality.
I can hear the counter arguments already. Vigilanteism etc. But guys........16 macrominers out of 18 characters. How bad do things have to get before you accept the scale of the problem ?

I say that out of purely aristocratic sentiment of course. Everything within the purview of the Empire is in the holding of the Emperor. We are granted license to make use of the gifts of the Divine only in the service of the Empire and its peoples.
Poaching is ignored insofar as you don't make trouble, and direct your efforts towards contingently acceptable outcomes. This is a capricious neutrality of course, and may be revoked at any time, for any reason.
