The Red Moon Rising code has been deployed for player testing. Tranquility will be mirrored to Singularity over the coming days. The Red Moon Rising features page will be available within the next few days. Keep an eye on this thread for further information.
New skills, modules, items and blueprints will be seeded to the market over the coming days.
For those that wish to test and preview the new content and features offered in Red Moon Rising, set-up instructions for test clients can be found on the Test Patches web page.

Yeah can we please get accelerated skill training back on sis again so people can test stuff better? I haven't see this since Shiva was in testing. Implants just don't cut it because it still takes several weeks to get to fly something that needs advanced skills and I feel this hinders the progress of testing feedback from players. How are we supposed to test the fact that lvl 5 skill bonuses for some ships are working right if lvl 5 takes 20 days to train still?
Before we used to set a skill going, relog and it was set at 5 mins to finish. Can we get this back please? ------

The new "Advanced camera menu" is great !
Can we get a key binding to activate/deactivate the "set as interest"? it's confusing when your camera tries to keep looking at something that's warped away... still, a good way to track people

They should just put a special implant on the test server. Like plus 1000% skill training bonus or something. That would be easy enough to do and wouldn't require any special coding to do.

Your cache has nothing to do with it. You have to manually patc a second client. (Make sure you copy the EVE folder somewhere else and rename it so you know which is which.)

No, I understood perfectly. Did you follow the link? It gives you two test patches on the eve website.
When you click the menu to go to the patch menu, another list of options appears below it once you are there. One is called 'Test patches'. Click it. (The link I posted goes there for your convenience.)

Right click on something and see the new camera options menu. Set one as a parent, and one as an interest. (Like two police ships orbiting a gate) and watch the camera follow them. Same options that Zond3 used in EVE Never Fades video. ------

I hope they don't introduce the skill because it would just be a stupid timesink for something that works pretty damn well. I tried the 0ms warp in several times and I usually landed within jump range or very close and nothing a MWD/AB couldn't fix.
In my opnion it keeps stupid travel times down, espically since it works with autopilot, but stops the dependance of people just running past us 's using instas. Sure you could risk it, but if you get that dreaded 7km-15kms out I could be feasting on you.

I am probably only one who dont like stacking nerf. Saying it would effect ganking because gank setup will be nerfed is just wrong. 10 BS focusing fire will insta kill no matter if there is 4 or 8 damage mods in ships and the nerf will also effect some solo setups too.
I bet there will be lot more 4 damage mods and rest wcs after that nerf...

mmmm the warp in changes will make it much more random and kill instas (some wotn like it esp if u are trying to outrun a pirate camp and coem in at 15km anyway) though pirates will get a boost and not a total nerf because the odd player is going to get the shaft in terms of the randomness and get right in the middile of a gate camp.
The 0m option also works for stations - i think before we had a 3km as it stands now randomness in insta jumps - so this is a bit more to the left but i guess it also is a pretty good middle ground - making use of youre own corp and hiring of scouts to scout ahead for pirate camps is a good thing - the offset are the new stealth modules which reduce youre sig radius making it harder for others to lock u (this works well iwth the new warp in changes even if u are far out and have 3 stealth modules stacked its going to take longer to lock u up. These changes are for testing so can be altered in future if its to oen sided in any one regard

Unfortunately, I think this change will make people use a completely new set of instas. Now they will make it so that your would normally at 0M end up 3K beyond the gate so that there would be a maximum chance of an instant jump. and this way even with you ending up 15K, short of your target you will only be 12 away, not 15.
Warpin-----------------gate----------target _____________|______0______|_ 12Km ---------2.5K---------------2.5K Notice the instant jump range is now more than a third of all possible ranges. Any Misjump will be a lot closer to the gate.
Verdict - this will not stop people using instas, it will just make them make whole new sets of them.

I still think a 90% chance to make it through a gate is too high.

The point is, even if they are made completely random within 15K, using an insta to slightly go past the gates will still make it so you hit the gate a lot closer on average with most being insta jumps.
This method will not cause the elimination of instas unless they remove bookmarks completely, and I think that would be a grave mistake.

So far, what's cool: new character sheet interface new NPC spawns  warp to within 0m (when it works as stated ;p) criminal countdown timer  the new manufacturing interface
What sucks: the new font - it's just not as legible as our current selection warp to within 0m (when I end up 12km from my destination)
I may need to work my sec status up a bit faster so I can run back to high sec empire when my instas no longer work. Gate campers = win

I got criminally flagged when a NPC rat attacked my ship. I didn't fire back (seeing as how I didn't have weapons). Is this working as intended or a bug? If it is working as intended, who or what do I get criminally flagged against? ----------

During my testing of of the 0m warp in, it veried anywhere from 5 to 17km. The same can be said for the instas I tested. Is this how it is planned? If so, I fail to see how this will help the "Exodus" to lo-sec space. Quite the contrary from what I can see. The gatecampers will have a field day.

The new font could use more tracking and weight. Also a change in the contrast between the color of the font and background on drop down lists for things like skills and bookmarks would be an improvement. Right now it seems the contrast needs to be softer between the white font and grey background. |

If they increase hp 10 bs might not insta kill another bs it might take a few seconds.
Second 10 bs will kill you fast but 3 bs wont instakill anyomre wich is the point.
I say finally:).If they increase the overall hp the battles might get longer.

It pretty much works like the 2.5km random modifer on TQ, with the difference being that the the modifier is now 15km. This applies to any distance, which means that a warp to 100km can drop you at a distance of 85 to 115km.
I think this implementation is nowhere near final. It is probably a work in progress that simply had to go to SiSi for testing. I can not imagine that the way warping currently works on SiSi is anywhere near what the devs intended. So in my opinion there's no need for panicking and no purpose in starting any balancing discussion based on this.

well as it stands the SISI build at the moment is very buggy (will be worked on quite rapidly im guessing) otherwise this thread is about the stacking changes (why CCP didnt start a general RMR thread including instas and new NPC changes etc is beyond me but ah well) so is anyone testing the stacking changes ? to reduce lag by encouraging players to have more specific setups instead of having 1 of each little thing ?
Seems the lag busting business is moving ahead much quicker than i thought with other featuers possibly making the cutting room floor for a janurary or feb or kali patch. Interesting tiems ahead 0 the main issue is larger slower ships more exposed by random warp in at 0km - what id like to see is those ships with larger sig radius and slower base speeds have a reduced margin of out extreme ie maxiumum of 5km from gate isntead of say 15km for frigs and 12km for cruisers (this will still make these large ships useful in 0.0 and low sec and wont mean frieghter trips to 0.0 taking 12 hours isntead of 3 hours as they do now
Either that or give us mini freighers with 40,000 m3 - 75000 m3 but still maintain reasoble speeds.

just a thought stacking overdrives will now give a higher speed bonus add a afterburner or microwave drive to that and things could actually give a bigger speed boost for industrials (hope that is left in due to the insta nerf) how about overdrives that give a speed boost to frieghers if the insta changes arent tied in with sig radius the bigger the sig radius the closer the 0km to gate feature will work

I just read am outstanding idea by Russo in a differant thread.
Why not make:- Warp to 2.5k Warp to 5k Warp to 10k
The warp to at 2.5k means you need to activate warp and then a 20s timer counts down before you warp. RP Point being that it takes time to calculate the exit distance on a warp - Also meaning your a sitting duck for 20s.
5k - 12s 10k - 5s
Great idea tbh.

SISI is really a a buggy setup but thats the idea of SISI is to test new features get bug feedback then the devs can get to work its still 4 weeks approx before RMR comes out enough time to throughly bug test the product the SISI was very buggy and after dt its taking forever to log into TQ as well. Another node crash looks likley within 24 hours.

some need a formula to start comparing existing setups to future one with say 2 mods that are affected by a stacking penalty...
As I recall I heard the stacking penalty wasn't as severe for 2-3 mods...equal for 4 and worst for more then 4...well I'd like to know if the formula is out there ... satisfied ?

Next patch, more then two is pretty retarded to do. Sure, you still see some effect for 3 but it isn't worth it. 4 is just sad and after that you see nothing really.

I would if I could... + logging onto Sisi won't give me the formula... I would think CCP could clearly state the formula it uses on Sisi...rather then us guessing it over and over by testing 25 different setups...
BTW CCP is known for being a little math retarded so them giving the formula might be a good way of confirming they got it right and no glaring mistakes are involved in the math which will have to be hotfixed 24hrs after they release the patch... (like we haven't seen that before)
PS: no offense Oveur but we all know the only math you can manage involves cigarettes and beers...

Ok guys. I have been fooling around with instas, warp in points, etc for about 20 jumps now.
Firstly, when autopilot is enabled warp in seems to have a 5-30km randomiser. thankfully I was in a frigate, but many a time I had a 28km approach to the next gate.
When simply warping to location at 0km without the use of an insta, the randomiser seems to still be in place.
When using an insta, the warp in point seems to be almost dead on top of the gate, just like the old days.
I am currently searching the market, expecting to find modules or skills that enhance the randomiser, but have so far come up unlucky. I will continue my search and report my findings.

I logged in to Singularity last night. The new camera views are excellent! The market didn't work at all. The warp-in distance seems like a half-measure, and a new IJ bookmark making procedure to defeat it has already been suggested. The idea about warp delay for a closer warp-out point looks very good.
The new font is much better then current on Tranq (I'm playing @ 1280x1024). For those that think it's unreadable I suggest an investment in quality optics.

No modules/skills found to improve warp randomiser. Might just not be on market yet, cant check FC corp hangar.
Found another cool addition: Blueprints bought off market now seem to show their required building skills and minerals in the info window (before you buy them) On tranq, it doesnt show their details, just a stupid blank window with the m3 amount. Enable advanced camera controls (or some such) in the escape game settings menu. You'll see new camera options in the right-click drop-down menu.

Having already "invested" 300+ USD in this set of quality bifocular optics, the font still looks angular, blocky, and crowded.

The font has spaces between characters on my monitor.
People complained about the current font when it was introduced, now it's time for complaining about the new font. All this proves is that you can't make everyone happy all the time, and canÆt make some people happy at all.

Just a quick thing about the font, I think its ok, but you know what? Everyone complained when they switched to the one we have now but make a wild guess, we got used to it. Same will happen with the new font so relax and enjoy all the new goodies coming in RMR. Thanks CCP.

This is just my opinion:
The nerfing of insta bm's is going to kill those of us that play and enjoy this game as industrial characters in 0.0 and that subsequently support PvPers.
Again a game manufacturer is testing a standard that will make the game geared towards PvPers only, if this is CCP's intention then they should make that known and give those that enjoy the other modes of play in the game some chance to be refunded some money that we have all wasted playing a game in the manner which has been provided.
The game has always, since I have played, had insta bm's available if you take the tiem to make them. This was not an easy task especially in 0.0. CCP has made changes to routes for traveling and messed with those of us that rely on those paths for our income in the game.
My question to CCP is this:
1) Are you trying to stop people from being industrial players in 0.0? 2) Do you want this to be a PVP only game? 3) Are you willing to compensate those of us that have dedicated ourselves to NOT being PVPers?
I believe with the NERFING of the insta bm's will kill 0.0 mineral and high loot carrying which will hurt those players and accounts that do so. Currently having instas DOES NOT provide an advantage to those that travel 0.0 with large amouts of valuable mins or loot. Proof of thios is when warp bubble are used OR you have a good group with the proper ships to stop travellers.
CCP please respond so that those of us involved in something OTHER THAN PVP can mak esome decisions.
Also, I understand and appreciate that CCP is and always does add new features to the game but I can not see the logic in this change except to handicap those that rely on them. This will in no way EVEN out the game it will give PvPers and Gate Campers an UNFAIR advantage.

The big complaint about the current font as I remember was that it truely was unreadable in certain resolutions, but CCP fixed that. ...or am I thinking something else?

With the changes currently on the test server while using autopilot for a multi jump path, I ALWAYS land from 15-30K from the gate (usually 20+). This is using a single waypoint for a multi system jump and using autopilot.
With this change, My travel will now have to be multiple waypoints from insta to insta warp to 0 to make it so I land within 15K of gate every time.
Is this how it is supposed to work? Multi system jumps using autopilot land you up to 30K from gate. If it is, this change will convert me from not using instas ever to using them always.
P.S. I also had my default warp in range set to 0(just in case), it did not affect these jumps, still 15-30K from gate on autopilot warps.

People complained about different font than the current, iirc. And the amount of complaints was so high the original monstrosity was changed to what we have currently.
I don't really care if you can read this new font easily. I can't, and this is one of *few* computer fonts i've seen over the course of dozen years or so, that's gave me this kind of trouble. There's literally hundreds other fonts of the same size and smaller, which i can read perfectly well. Which leads me to believe the problem is with the font itself, not my eyesight nor my display hardware thankyouverymuch.
And really, if you have no problem with reading it... why do you care about this issue at all? Your ability to figure out this new writing without headache doesn't make slightest difference for these who cannot. So stating "_i_ can read it fine" is rather pointless...

Why change it at all? Is this some new lag reducing font? Does it add to the depth of the game? Does it require a module or skill to read effectively?
So why was it changed at all? To take focus away from the other changes?

PS: Another issue is the time taken to find and switch to a new font. I think this time could be better spent, even if it is just an hour of employee time.
I think it has something to do with this, as shown in the 'in developement' section of the website:

Edit: Out of about 25 warps 3 landed me withing 7km, the rest at that 22-23km spot from the gate

Since they haven't annouced it, one could assume they are playing with the deviation. Espically on day one instas still worked.
Also, what size ship are you using? I find the bigger ones tend to get closer while the smaller further, but of course they also fly faster.

Same results here. My instas, when used at warp to 10k, still work more or less, but either AP or manual warp to 0km is anywhere from 12-27km from the gate. Something needs tweaking. ---------------------------

I think it's just tweaks done in the latest patch.. The ship size didn't matter at all. My old instas worked fine though, left me a bit behind the gate but nothing that couldn't be handled by changing the warp to distance.

How's "the font is unreadable" a "frivolous complaint", when being readable is the basic function said font is supposed to provide?
This is not issue of "i like it" or "it's not pretty enough". It's a matter of "i can't read easily what the text is supposed to say due to shape of letters, which wind up uncomfortably similar to one another"... a completely diffrent thing.
If anything "i like how it looks" is a frivolous reason to keep a font in, because it's purely aesthetical preference. It's not as important as making the information the game is trying to convey actually accessible to the players... --;;

If subjective reaction to font aesthetics causes the individual to have trouble with reading it, then it still boils down to part of player base having trouble with reading the font, due to its shape. As such, the claim the font is unreadable is anything but "unsubstantiated".

ship size the larger and more exposed speed wise the closer on average they should land at the gate i had a thread going last night with that idea so frieghters wouldnt end up totally borked by a lag reducing insta nerf. Lets hope its considered

Well, there was the part when I was about to file a bug report about drones being able to be used over 90km when I realized that 8 and 9 (oh, and &) look almost exactly identical on the test server...

Ok, next topic. Are Heavy drones, with a total size of 25M3 supposed to have a signature radius that is roughly 3 TIMES the size of the average frigate?
Less drones, easier to kill, by a long shot, even with more shield/armor.
I mean, come on, they are just shy of the sig radius of CRUISERS!

dont forget they give out cruiser sized damage now (the new and improved ones) and hence they are easier to hit. Its overall looking a bit weaker unless u have the special drones or t2 heavy combats but heh if it reduces lag so be it - same as insta nerf. If a few more low sec pilots loose their ships going solo so be it

Ummm, only the Moros drones do anything near cruiser level damage. I am talking normal Heavy drones that do less than frig damage, a lot less.

Didn't they plan to add feature that you could manually select font by replacing a .ttf or similar file in the /EVE/something directory? Seems like a good time to do it. I can read the new font, but I find my attention fixed slightly above the text for some reason, meaning I tend to miss out on some of the meaning. A reason for this is that the text is a bit cramped. On a passing look it looks like some sort of line instead of actual text, and that is bad.
Last but not least, complaints that players have serious problems reading the text should be taken very seriously and workarounds or fixes must be of top priority. That some (few/several/many) can read the text is a moot point entirely - good for them, but they don't have a problem. Metaphore: That most people in an area have electricity after a storm doesn't mean you shouldn't fix the problem that some people doesn't have electricity.
Random 0-15km deviation on warp-ins? For the first time in 2 years I'm considering cancelling accounts. |

From time immemorial (ok, at least a year), the sig radius of drones has been: lights 25 mediums 50 heavies 100
This sounds pretty much like what you are saying, so I don't think anything has changed. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will point it out.

Then if everyone remebers there are things called mobile warp disruptors and i think the T2 destroyers will also serve a similar purpose. So traveling around 1.0 - 0.5 should be fairly quick as it should be. So we let those who want to play in 0.4 - 0.1 they can possably use the Mobile Warp Disruptors just they have to be set up out side the sentry guns range or something, so they can be happy . Well in 0.0 everyone is happy with the new change .
Also the countdown timer could make it a fair solution, but 20secs is a long time if u r in an indi, well probably wont make it to 5sec hehe. Somehow i always feel that CCP make life simple for and well more interesting for the rest of us.

u keep saying that the 0km warp in should be 0km - not going to happen though 22km seems a bit strange u would think ti would be within 15km purley because the instsa allow that now and the closest warp in is arleady 15km.

"The lack of substance" only refers to that which was ~2 pages ago, as I've explained, and should be plainly obvious by the location of my original comment on the matter.
It seems we finally agreed on something.
As to the quality of the font, it may be a work in progress and I hope the minor (IMO) illegibility problems will be dealt with.

yes im working the test server also and been doing 30 warp jumps sets out of 30 only 14 get me into warp range of gate. most 11 to 15 km away i say it sould not drop you at gate every time but less than half the time in 0.0 means you dead 11 out of those 16 times in any choke points area. if out of 30 you are left at 11 to 13 km even 9 times would give the pirate his do and i could live with also. but other than that i like the new build very much
talk is cheap the cost of action is enormus

However, in other game windows where the font size is not adjustable, it indeed is somewhat too small and therefore blurred.. maybe this font would be much better readable if there was some option in-between the large and normal sizes, which would be used everywhere...

What would be really good is if the mirror included automatically changing everyones corp to fight club and granting hanger access. Maybe also moving everyone closer to fight club :)
