Edited by: Earthan on 24/11/2005 22:09:41 Blacklight you know i like you and respect and i see what you are saying but you are wrong.
Norad's democracy might be weakness sometimes but its also its strentgh.
Its an ideal worth fighting for and dying.
I liked BNC and you are great fighters but I dislike the face of Eve you are shaping.
PS Lol this feels more and more like Empire against Rebel Alliance in Star wars.

I could not have put it better myself Sir.

If you had the guts to fight for another order maybe it wouldnt be bitter the truth you must live in maybe it could be bright.
You shape the world in wich you live.

I know you do Earthan my friend, which is why you're back in NORAD. I respect your views but believe me I know how to succeed in the cold hard corners of 0.0 space and a democracy is not the way to go.
See you on the battlefield old friend.

Blacklight is right. there is absolutley no room for democracy in EvE universe. The only way and the RIGHT way to settle everyhing is throught supreme firepower!

Edited by: Arwen Atreides on 06/12/2005 00:36:30 Since this seems to have become a democracy vs no democracy in eve discussion (off topic, but whatever), I wonder Lagfest how you prove that democracies as a whole have trouble with having a sizable military force? Democracies certainly can and do have military might, and I can think of examples both in EVE and in the "real world." The difference is not in the ability of a democracy to keep a military force, but the way in which it is commanded. NORAD has a supreme military commander that is elected by our council of representatives based upon credentials and ability, and they are not permanent. The advantage here over a non-democratic system is that ego and personal relationships are less of a factor in deciding who makes military decisions, and if someone does a poor job they can be removed with debate in council rather than with civil war. I could go on, infact this is an entire area of study in the political sciences. Sure a democracy is not perfect, but it certainly has advantages that other systems do not have. -

i dont really agree. You actually have to listen your own corp employees opinion if you dont want your corporation/alliance to shatter, it's implicit in some cases. Of course applying democratic principles everytime to make a choice is not the best thing to do to fasten decision making processes.

Maybe, but that only works when *Everyone* in your aliance wants the same thing. Once people have different end-goals for the group, people start to step on each other to get what they want. What happens next is different for the different types of political situations:
In a Democracy -- You end up with 3 hour long Aliance meetings about 'roid levels. Slow and painfull death ensues. In a Dictatorship -- You kick the corp that doesn't want to play along with the larger group. Problem solved, quick and clean.
But, of course, what do I know. I just kill things.
Cheers, Jonny D. -----

Edited by: Kin Hanyerec on 06/12/2005 02:01:35 I have the bad habit of posting and reediting jonny I mean that individual people that doesn't share our goals just leave, as long as they dont represent the majority.
