Simply put my reason is the good friendships I've developed over the years. I've shared many fond memories and awesome fights, triumphs, losses, risks and keep coming back for more.
Maybe it's because I've surrounded myself in the past and now with good peeps but hey it's always nice having someones back whom you consider a friend.

For me it's #1 spaceships. I love the sci-fi genera... and I love spaceships... just the concept of them. Right now EvE has the best spaceships in a game. I foresee a time when that may change, but until that happens: one shard? We all play the SAME game? Best game there is. I haven't been particularly active of late, but for me if there is some virtual space s*** going down, it only matters in EvE. #2 is the single shard itself. You stand in this game as an individual against a lot of people... but nothing about your RL reality matters save what you can make happen here. Best chess game ever.
So that's why. It's one universe. One arena. If you "win" a game of EvE you really did something. It's real. No excuses.

There are a lot of different ways to play this game, but one of the best ways to play it is with other cool people. Hanging out by yourself in hisec, autistically missioning or mining has to be soul destroying.
Find a group, get on comms, and do cool stuff together. This is an amazing game, and Eve history is being made. And it's not by the guy rescuing Damsels or PvPing Veldspar. Will Fountain be Goonswarm's Waterloo?Read all about it in COAD. |

I love how you begin as a total noob, make all the noob mistakes, learn, become less of a noob and stop understanding why other people are making such utter noob mistakes.
I also very much love that the people who at one point are your worst enemies ( war decced and stuff ), turn out to be the nicest most helpful people in the game.
Also, the duality of the game. I love that you can just spy and steal things and i hate that people can just spy on you and steal things. I love how you can form up a blob and whack anything and i hate when a blob attacks me and leaves me with no chance.
This game is just great, the fact that it's in space with cool graphics makes it just that much better. If a man speaks his mind in the forest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong? |

The problem is when I'm playing any other game, it's basically about the PvE and pretty soon I get to thinking "man, if I'm gonna grind PvE then I should at least get ISK for it..."
Also tbh the people. EVE punishes stupidity, and it's OK with CCP that it does. That's such a massive difference from every other community.

I did some research and maybe I have some good news for you, Malcanis:
Quote:
Ownership
There are no laws in England dealing with the ownership of lasers in the UK. It is therefore legal to own lasers in the UK of any power.
Use
I recall reading in many places that the use of lasers is "illegal"; in the UK. However, I cannot find any law or regulation to this effect. I recently did a search for "laser"; in a collection of all UK statutes and statutory instruments in the last 30 years and did not find any relevant entries. I have also searched the Health and Safety Executive website. Again, there is nothing to show any specific laws dealing with the use of lasers.
The position therefore seems to be that the use of lasers in the UK is merely subject to the general law. For hobbyists this means that it is *legal to use lasers *in public places (fields, parks etc) as long as you do so safely.. It might possibly be a nuisance at common law if you were to dazzle large numbers of people, but that is about it. Of course, that said, you should always use your common sense. Don't go shining high powered pointers at planes, police cars, people or through windows.
So, the ownership and use of a rack of Megapulse lasers seems to be perfectly legal in the UK...now the only problem is where to get one?
Just think of how bad an average post by me is, and then realize half of them are even worse |

This game still hasn't fallen prey to the 'more accessible' disease that plagues MMOs.
Though admittedly with the incessant urge to ret-con fluff module names, the increasing 'exploration-for-idiots' and the never-ending boosting of CONCORD, even EVE isn't completely resistant to it. |

Training while offline gives me the sensation that I am playing video games without having to play them. I enjoy knowing that even though my life is going nowhere outside the internet, I am slowly progressing to the ability to operate a TITAN in EvE and with that goal in mind my dopamine levels remain elevated and depression nearly eliminated. My next step is to create a massive scam corp to collect taxes from thousands of players and convert that isk into plex that I can sell on my website for a discount.
Money laundering and meta-gameplay mechanics keep an intellect such as myself stimulated, inferior players will claim to be champions at gas harvesting, but men like me are the ones producing the gas. When the DUST is settled, everything will change.
