Yesterday I was contacted by the CEO of a small Corp filled with noobs. He told me that a corp has war deced him and asked me for advice. So I started to solve this issue and send his ppl around.
While we had a quite amusing (for me! :) chat on TS he got a eve mail form the attacker corp stating that two of his noobs where suspected to commit macro mining. I have some concerns if players are allowed to do the jobs of GMs but anyway I explained to the poor nooby CEO what macro mining is and why it should be avoided. (I had to tell him what NPC means but that's another story) As we talk about that issue he asked me also if buying ISK for RL money is allowed. I told him that I will come and shoot him if he do so after I have petitioned him.
So he leard a lot this day. The point is:
Why the hell is Aura spamming 16MSP chars with lessens about insurance but is unable to teach new players importent knowledge like:
1) Player who shoot you in low sec are called Pirates and not idiots!
2) Buying ISK is bad for you, mkay?
3) Macro users are cheaters and have a short *beep*!
Please do not try to argue with the EULA. Every company who is selling software _knows_ that users see the an EULA as something that has to be clicked away.

I don't see how you can possibly justify declaring war on someone just because they are Ignorant. That would be like declaring war on someone just because they are Stupid. Or Stupid and Ignorant. Or maybe Ignorant, Stupid and Obnoxious. Either way, I am against ignorance as an excuse for acts of gratuitous violence. I recommend reading books as a way of overcoming ignorance. Perhaps you should escrow some Pax Armaria instead?

Well he was ignorant in the sense that he wasn't aware of the mechanics of the game, and the rules.
There is nothing wrong with ignorance, you can't know EVE as soon as you start playing, though after one month said n00b should have at least a bit of knowledge of the game. Guess everyones learning rates are different..

A short dictionary lookup proved my wrong. You are right, he is ignorant! We germans have the same word (ignorance = ignoranz) but use it in a slightly different way. Sorry for calling you a troll.

It is frequently used as an insult in English, too; strictly speaking, it just means you don't know something yet, but most of the time people use it to mean stupid, or lazy.

well i am guessing that this CEO didnt realise perhaps has played WOWO etc where items for RL $$$ is allowable - but yes we need to tell new players that macro mining - RL ISK and items to sale etc at least on TQ is against the rules and they need to be reported.

The point of this thread is to make clear that young players are not prepared to play eve properly. Some simple issues like macro mining and ISK selling are not clearly described and written on a visible place. Even the basic rule that you can shooten everywhere in space is not revealed. Thus young player will get in trouble like the poor guy I had to help yesterday.
If I want to make some poor guy look stupid I would write his name in clear letters.
And I learned something new about the differences of english and german. :)
