Don't worry, mate. I'm sure with technology today they can figure out something.
And yes, renewing. Been addicted since beta and the habit can't be kicked now.

Well...iam a student, which mean iam constantly short on money. Sure its not to much to spend, but to pay for a total ****up like the minerii thing, i have a very hard time seeing why i would and can find many other reason to spend those money on. Atleast there are some story going on right now and ill just have to w8 and see how that goes. One can always wish that the joves go *****-raiding TTI to equalize there earning, since they really didnt do jack **** to earn it. __________________________________________________________ |

EVE has through September at the latest for me. Sadly the potential for EVE has run dry IMO. Sure there is still potential for greatness but it can only come true under the best case scenario. I have been here for a long time and seen lots of things here. There was a great concept and great creativity back when EVE was nothing more than a forum and art. In beta there were glimpses of greatness through the blaringly obvious beta-like flaws. Somewhere around the end of beta however, CCP gave up on their game. I stopped seeing content added, stopped seeing creativity beyond the roleplaying attempts to cover bugs and exploits, and stopped seeing a true purpose to the EVE universe. The purpose of this thread should be far beyond the Miner II and Tech 2 dilemma. There is a problem with how CCP operates and how this game is turning out. Most of the community sees the problems and some have spoken out about the problems only to receive badmouthing and name calling. Players have donated time, suggestions, and effort to EVE since its beginning. Most of the concepts and strategies in EVE would not be the same if it were not for the playerbase. On the same token, problems we currently face like the implementation of new tech were addressed a LONG time ago by players on these very forums and obviously ignored. It truly is upsetting to see that CCP can come on the forums to announce an event that was obviously made to coverup their blunder, but cannot make a thread or post to inform the gamers how and why the first Miner II BP's got in the game. For once we should actually hear it from the horses mouth. Roleplaying is cute and fun, but when serious topics come up that spark the interest of the whole community, I think a more professional approach should be used. There are features offered on the game box that are still not ingame. There was a devchat over two months ago in which we were told to expect stations, mobile refineries, and other features in 2-3 weeks. These are examples of serious things needed to be addressed by CCP. I have seen the same bugs and "balancing issues" since beta that are still given priority every patch. The balancing I have seen has been to the extreme, never an actual balance. It is always a 180 degree turn from the previous problem. The CTD, node drops, lag, etc are all partially excusable if we have content and activities to do ingame. For the average gamer who is still in the struggle to move up to a cruiser or battleship, the game can still have thrill or purpose. But once you get that wonderful battleship, what to do next. You can mine more and more to get more battleships in a repetitive cycle. You can hunt NPC cruisers to equip your battleship to hunt more NPC cruisers in another repetitive cycle. You can become a pirate and be shunned and unrightfully scolded by the GM's and players, eventually leading to inevitable GM intereference. Join a corp maybe which will provide opportunities for war, likely decided by who has the better connection to the server at the time. It becomes a waiting game for players to wait for CCP to deliver the goods. Now that I have addressed some of the major concerns.... I don't want to leave everyone with a bad taste in their mouth that I am this guy who just hates EVE and CCP. EVE has progressed some over the weeks, months, and patches. The game made a good turnaround from the major bugs in late beta that made EVE unplayable. CCP seems to be trying to actually fix serverside issues and at points the server has performed excellent. There also seems to be an effort to create a storyline and player driven events (to be determined). There are positives to EVE and there is still the possibility that EVE may become a great game and live up to part of its potential. Just for me and obviously quite a few more gamers, that period of potential vs performance has expired or is expiring. To all those who have the mentality that all who dislike EVE and where it is heading should leave the game... don't forget that the people who speak out publicly are the main ones who get problems fixed, not the player with blind hope that it will be fixed. A solution can't be made until the problem is identified. To those who will continue on their EVE journeys, good luck and warp speed ahead. Hope you can continue to communicate with CCP and get this game to where it should be by now.

Venal is a fact of life, it was always going to be the case that marginal pirate "kingdoms" were going to form from regional alliances.
There are ways round this, as there are ways to continue as an independent. Whatever you chose I wish you the best. Guts and courage earn my respect m'dear. Stick at it!

Thanks for the kind words but CCP just decided for me ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

Damn it! These forums are not readable anymore. Only whiners everywhere. To begin a post like this with "will you renew if everything sucks..." is a very good way of getting good numbers (not). Since most people here on the forums seem to dislike the game the results will be also be very limited. On all forums about games and programs it always seem to be the same, if this isn't fixed tomorrow I will stop using xx game/program. Please give some more constructive critizism instead. That might help.

I already have 6month subscription and by the time that is up I would imagine (hope) all major bugs are ironed out so I will prob renew then. If it was up today I would renew just cos I can't wait to see the difference player run stations etc will make :).

Edited by: NeoMorph on 12/08/2003 17:46:02 Yup - in fact I'm going to be wiring my next 3 months worth of subs tomorrow.
Because CCP still havent sorted out the damn prepayment cards that were promised I've got to do it via PayByCash and I hope to hell that I dont have the trouble a friend of mine had when he still hadnt got connected over a week later. We were also promised that paying for blocks in advance would be cheaper... but it's a lot more expensive. For me it's $39.95 + $15.00 wire transfer fee (Western Union)... just for 3 months!
Paying $18.32 a month for a game is a bit of a ripoff but if I want to play EVE I have no alternative. If the game doesn't improve after the next 3 months and the gamecards aren't introduced I think it's going to be a case of too expensive for a game that's still in beta and I'll just cancel my subs. If CCP sorted out the payments better I think they would have a larger paying client base.
I'm not whining... I just want what CCP promised us is all.
Here's to crossing my fingers to seeing something sorted in the near future. -------------------------------------------
